Well, he never actually beat them or the encounter, so he doesn’t get any from fighting them before. He might have some roleplay XP from all those death scenes, though.
The others may have their character classes, but Dies
I wonder if his name really means he has a hard time dying. Survivesalot doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
Whether or not this ‘death’ counted as fulfilling Dies’ name, it looks like he sure thinks it does.
Dies not being scared is…kind of scary.
I guess Dies doesn’t need his chest plate armor anymore.
So looking forward to the next update! I want to see Dies kick some serious demon minion ass. Plus, now the Blade Beetles have been disturbed – once they focus their efforts after being scattered, what do you want to bet that there will be some serious insect nastiness going on?
Damn it, I had suspicions about that second soul taking over. Why didn’t I mention it here for my just rewards?
Straight from the Thunt’s blog post
So there goes my theory.
That doesn’t sound like something that the soul of a klikky arm would say, though… Where the heck did that soul come from?
Unless “Father” is the original gray Klik, whom Fox is currently wielding as a staff? It still seems pretty bizarre, though.
Oh, Kin…
She might also be counting on the assumption that Psimax is eavesdropping, and trying to bluff him into miscalculating.
Or she could be clueless, herself. Wouldn’t a psion have direct access to that information?
Ouch. Great line, though.
I think she’s in denial or clueless because she doesn’t know what love is/has a fucked up idea of it considering what she’s been through. I mean, she just begged for MinMax’s life. And was upset when Forgath made fun of him earlier (the teapot bit).
Jumping his bones might be the furthest thing from her oversized mind, but she cares for him alright.
She does care for him as a friend. I don’t know that she actually is in love with him, though.
What the hell is happening with Minmax this strip?
My first thought was that it was an until-now latent effect from the Shield of Wonder, but someone on the Goblins boards suggested that Minmax just leveled up and chose Barbarian. The purple color and horizonal glowing line from his eyes are identical to what Complains shows when he goes into a barbarian rage.
In any case, and pretty much as always, I can’t wait for the next update!
the only thing i have against that is there is usually a “Ding” when they level isn’t there?
There is in The Order of the Stick, but I haven’t noticed it in Goblins. In this strip, Complains mentions that they’re all fourth level now, but I don’t find any acknowledgement of their leveling up at the time that it happened. I’m not saying it’s impossible for me to have missed it, but I haven’t found anything.
Minmax could have suddenly taken a level in barbarian, but my preferred theory is that it’s a function of his armor. I think it gives you at least some of the abilities of another class, with the current color of the armor determining which class. When the armor is red, he gets barbarian traits. Black might give him rogue abilities. Pink…I don’t know. Bard, maybe?
Plaid, of course, will give him a level in Kickasso.
