Yes, that comic holds a special place for me. I finally got into the game a couple months after the last of that group of friends joined. You are right (and I avoided it for the same reason) it takes way too much time.
That is a fantastic idea.

Don’t assume a happy ending even for the heroes. THunt WILL kill off a character, even a sympathetic one, if the story demands it. Remember poor Taps? Fumbles might never get cured or recover, if the story needs for him to be permanently damaged or dead.
This is a GOOD thing for the story, and the mark of a good storyteller. Too many authors won’t kill off or harm their sympathetic characters. Look at Spider Robinson, for instance. His avatar used to be consumed by guilt because his first family died in a car crash, IIRC, but then he later learned that it was someone else’s fault. That guy used to be a more interesting character before he learned that he wasn’t responsible for the deaths. Robinson’s good guys are all as enlightened and cool as hell, and they’re all boring and predictable. Pratchett, on the other hand, has characters with various flaws, that are unpredictable, and are INTERESTING. I’d never have thought that Granny Weatherwax would spoil a kitten, for instance.
Heh. You go, Minmax. ![]()
Hey, I never said they would succeed. But they have to try anyway. Can you imagine Ears going “eh, he’s done for. Whatevs, let’s get us some XP !” ?
Interesting that Minmax has gone back to referring to Kin as ‘it’ and ‘that monster.’ Also interesting that it looks as though that shiny sword, which was mounted on the beam for the entire bar scene including the vicious battle, is getting left behind!
Taking that sword would be theft; taking Goblinslayer’s sword is a spoil of war.
Considering that Dellyn’s sword was apparently actually part of Dellyn, I wonder if there are any regeneration issues in the future?
Given that in D&D, death can just be a minor inconvenience, I think we’ll see Goblinslayer back at some point (not that being a Goblin-slayer is that big of an accomplishment - they’re barely tougher than a kobold!).
While I’ve enjoyed the current MinMax / Forgath storyline, I think a comic titled “Goblins” needs to focus more on [del]hot yuan-ti[/del] goblins. But that’s just me.
Pervy snake fancier!
Okey doke, here ya go! Very funny, I think, how the tops of those rails on the bridge are just littered with treasure and magic items.
Heh!
“You are one messed-up piece of food, you know that?”
I’m so stealing that line for one of my characters.
Okay it’s been two weeks since we’ve discussed this. Frankly, although I’m intrigued at the implications of what Dies’s arm did last week, I’m not really surprised that no one found part 2 of the cutaway to the Well of Darkness significant enough to comment on yet.
But I am delighted to see Kin’s healing. Still kind of unclear to me if Minmax and Forgath are going to part ways with her, but it’s really nice to see her happy, smiling, and relaxed.
meh, I prefer story movement myself! I preferred Minmax when he was sympathetic to Kin and attacked goblinslayer due to it. I am not liking his current “Hey Monster!” approach.
Regarding the arm thing - does it have some awareness of it’s own, or has the goblin’s own sub conscious decided to get rid of what caused it such pain?
I’m not sure he ever was. Remember that Minmax is a player character, rather than a real person. To him, this is all a nice, uncomplicated power fantasy wish fulfilment adventure. I think he was upset at Dellyn, not because he raped Kin, but because he raped that fantasy. He’s currently trying to reestablish that uncomplicated view of the world he’s in, which requires monsters to be monsters (I’m not sure he’ll succeed).
Freedom definitely suits her. Who would have guessed before now that she had such a lovely smile?
New one up. Interesting turn of events.
I kind of like the idea that he reacted that way even though he thinks of her as a monster.
New comic is up
Something I just noticed: the pattern of Kin’s scales on her snake belly and the pattern of MinMax’s … er … loin-covering thingy are complimentary – his pattern points up and hers points down. Hmm.
Also, I really, really like Kin.
