Going back to school in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven a.m.! Imagine! 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and maybe rain/tstorms/apocalypse, or not. We shall see. No big items on today’s agenda and I foresee no need to leave da cave. Fine by me. Sup shall be steak, baked N.O.T., sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

MOOOOOOM I looked on the weather map and there’s a big bunch of green and red over the southeast Jawja coast. Looks like it’s movin’ inland so hopefully FCD won’t be in it for very long. He stopped near one of my happy places to be. Honey Creek is just south of Brunswick off of I95.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

He’s in SC and he got out of the rain. Roxy and I are wearing proper clothing (i.e. not jammies) and I’m thinking about running to the store for some grass seed so I can work in the yard. But I may wait till daughter reclaims her spawn.

Afternoon all.

Had to get up relatively early today despite it being Saturday, to take the car in for the airbag recall that I’ve been putting off for ages. Glad I’ve finally got it sorted at least, and it was done very quick. I decided to go the scenic route back, and mosey round the countryside 'cos the garage I had to go to was in a direction I rarely go, near the coast (though where I live, everywhere is near the coast…). It’s all pretty and autumnal out there, gorgeous in the sun. Shame it started raining just as I was relaxing by the estuary with a nice hot chocolate, really.

I should head back out, because I really do need to get the bees all ready for winter; though the temperature’s still fairly high, it’s best to have them all prepared before it gets too nasty. Shoulda got it done on Wednesday really, but I wasn’t up to carrying multiple boxes through a field with a somewhat short-tempered ram (and some indifferent ewes) in it. :sheep:

When I worked in a little convenience store, we several times had the guy who lived in the flat upstairs come in just before closing wearing a dressing gown and -pretty obviously- nothing else, not even shoes, dripping water and soap suds, having clearly been in the bath when he realised he forgot to get milk. Yes, we sniggered.

{{{nellie}}} I hope that your itch calms down soon.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of sheets and towels ready for the dryer, a load of jeans ready to go into the wash and fixing to do KP. It’s been raining on and off so far, so outdoor activity will be limited. Since it’s mostly an indoor day, I have some mending to catch up and I need to make a couple of belts (I have to go through a metal detector at irk, so none of my belts work well for daily use. I bought some webbing and plastic buckles to DIY a couple of them.).

Nelson got to sniff butts with one of the new neighbor puppies (a cutie pie of a 12 week old chi) this morning. He is surprisingly good with puppies and small children.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. The rain came down and washed out the soccer games, so I may do a little drive-about and stop at a couple places down the road some. Rain looks to be sticking around all day and tomorrow, so drying out is going to take some time. Has cooled things down some (68F now).

All y’all take care now.

In one of my less graceful moments, I fell out of Roxy’s “tower” a little earlier. She was playing with sand and wanted more, so I was going to get her some. I stepped on the edge of the top step (there are only 3) and my foot slipped and I spun around and sat down hard, then fell back and hit my head. Fortunately, the ground there is dirt and gravel, so not like cement. But I expect some epic bruises on my butt, back, and hip, and my right wrist has several small cuts. There will probably be a headache, too.

Roxy was so sweet - she kept asking if I was OK as I sat on the steps to gather myself. Then she brushed off the back of my shirt. Nice to know she’s a compassionate kid - like her mama was at her age.

We’re back in the house having lunch. Daughter should be here within the hour, so I need to keep Roxy up and entertained. She’s a slow eater, so that’ll kill some of the time. Meanwhile, I think I’ll grab a handful of acetaminophen. Preventative medicine, y’know.

Happy Saturday!

It was nice this morning at the park, but now it’s getting cloudy and supposed to rain.

Today is going to be mostly doing laundry day.
I have some other stuff to do, mostly minor stuff like some paper irk, dishes, and stuff.

Sorry about your fall FCM
I hope FCD gets home safely.

Hope your itching feels better Nellie

Happy AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! Saturday! Got up early to do some shopping and get some chores done. Nothing but frustration and annoyance. First the grocery was out of shredded lettuce in the smaller packs, which is the only way to buy it if you don’t want to throw 2/3 of it away. Then I cleaned out a shelf of the pantry (1 per weekend in October) and ended up throwing out 2 garbage bags of expired canned goods, some of which had 2018 dates on them! All the while the boy cats were darting in and out of the pantry, getting in the way and generally being pains in the butt. At least in the auxiliary pantry (garage shelving) I can see what I have and easily rotate stock. This is going to take some thinking and redesign so I don’t waste food like that.

Hope everybody is having a calmer and more productive weekend than I’m having so far!

Congrats on the sale. This reminds me that I would like to get a housing for my Canon. No rush on that. Hard to know when I’ll dive again, if ever. I want it anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

FCM I hope FCD has an uneventful drive.

Nellie I hope the meds help with the itch. It sounds maddening.

We ordered Chinese food last night. My theory was that the leftovers should keep everyone busy for a few days. I heard mumbling about the refrigerator jenga that ensued. I take it as proof that my plan to create a metric ton of leftovers worked.

On my second day of being confined to bed. It seems like forever, but I’ll blame Life in America for that.

I have rain envy. Supposedly, we are due for some. I will believe it when it gets here.

Happy Saturn’s Day y’all.

Howdy all. Have not read yet but I will. Life is much the same at Chez Butters. Cook, clean, nurse, laundry and if I’m lucky sleep for few hours. I have this IV thing down to a science. I’m even good at it now. Piece of cake.

Cooking is a chore cause my patient does not want anything but I still cook and let him refuse it. I was trying to think what I can do with some chicken thighs and remembered The George Forman grill that never gets used. I don’t mess with the regular grill cause it would explode.

I awoke this AM at 4 to sneezing and of course there were no allergy pills that I could find but I found a bottle of Zzzzzzquil which is the same as benedryl and had a huge swing of that, took a nap and awoke with a head ache. I feel fine otherwise. I shall keep check on my temp to make sure it’s only allergies. If it’s the ‘rona one of those nurses gave it to me and they said they don’t treat corona patients. I don’t think sneezing is one of the main symptoms anyway. Fecking allergies.

So, that all the news that’s fit to print. I am still around though I am a bad Mumper theses days. I did start watching a new NetFlix series called Ratched. A lead up to why Nurse Ratched from One Flew over the coo coo’s Nest is the way she is. A good Halloween series. I shall go see what youse all been up to.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s been a busy Saturday here, we went into town this afternoon for essentials (one of which was N.O.Lunch), after which I stopped off at the pet store to get a couple of bags of urinary care food for Shadow, some litter tray liners which my local supermarket no longer stocks, and of course I had to buy some rather fancy looking bags of treats for the mogs.

Last night involved curry, cocktails, films and music…a late night, and thus a late start in the morning. Tonight has been declared Taco Saturday, just because we haven’t had any for ages so that’s what we’re doing for dinner. No doubt there will be films tonight too, and tomorrow I’m either going to a spin class in the morning, or heading to the gym later to shove some weights around.

And since it’s now nearly 6pm, I should feed the critters, and I can fit in a couple of episodes of “Penny Dreadful” before Best Beloved provides me with dinner. And a cup of tea, of course. Not iced, and not full of sugar either.

IMO, you’d be better off with something in the NSAID category, if I recall advice I got from a doctor after a car accident ages ago. I’d suggest aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Please note that I am no sort of medical professional, just going on advice I’ve received from them.

Just dragged myself out of bed about 15 minutes ago, around 11:15. I was down for well over 12 hours, and a single Nyquil caplet does not normally hit me THAT hard. I must have been running a serious sleep deficit. DH and I seem to be in agreement that sloth is the game plan for the day.

We get to go to church tomorrow! We finally get in-person meetings. They’re dividing the congregation alphabetically by last name, so each part of the alphabet attends on alternate weeks, and this week it’s our turn.

Roxy has been reclaimed. I made a run to WalMart and Lowes for the few items I needed. I intended to do some reseeding of the back yard, but at the moment, I just don’t feel like it. We’ll see if my attitude gets any better.

FCD was in NC 2 hours ago, and by my math, he should hit Virginia within an hour. Looks like he’ll be driving thru some rain there, but it just says showers, which beats deluge. Hoping to hear from him soon. In the interim, I think I’m going to chill a bit, because I can.

We’re back at the ‘big house’ in the valley. Wifey has had diarrhea all week and called her doc yesterday. Doc wanted her to have a Covid test, which we couldn’t get over there, so we drove back last evening and are getting tested Sunday morning. Both of us. Joy. I had to tell them that I had symptoms too. I do, but they prolly aren’t related to the plague. No matter. If Wifey has covid, so do I.

For the record: I lurves chili, with or without beans, with or without tomatoes. With or without vinegar. I’ve even eaten chili made with cactus ‘leaves’. Even with macaroni in it. Don’t care. I lurves it.

Don’t drink much tea, but when I do I like just a little bit of sugar, or honey.

Mom, ouch!

Nellie, I slather myself with Cetaphil, the kind with oatmeal in it, to help with the itching from eczema. It won’t get rid of it completely, but it helps me. For really bad patches, I use a steroid ointment.

Sunny, if you still lived up here, you’d have all the rain you could stand and then some.

Wifey wants Chinese for dinner tonight. It’s rare enough for her to want Chinese that I’m happy to arrange it. Need to check which restaurant(s) around here have take out.

I’m gonna say something here that some of you may not like, but please think about it before dismissing it as the ramblings of a grumpy old coot.
Old folks can be, and quite often are, grumpy and stubborn. And most of us don’t have as many brain cells as we used to, but we’re still grown-ups and we don’t like being treated like children who don’t know what’s good for us. Let us finish out our years how and where we want. We’ve earned it.

Y’all have a nice weekend, ya’hear?

All this talk of Chinese is getting to me. I shall call FCD and see if I should order some for delivery for about when he’s due home. He’s in Virginia now and barring stupid traffic, he should be home by 6.

I changed our bedding so he gets to sleep on clean sheets tonight. Because I’m nice, dammit. yeah, and it’s been a couple of weeks on the old sheets…

I have a terrible case of the munchies today. Neither grapes nor peanuts have had any effect. Dunno what I want, but I want something.

I agree

I agree agree and add “you damn kids! get off my lawn!”.

We went to an outdoor family wedding. With everyone wearing masks, I made an assumption that the nicely dressed young man who greeted us as we got to the site was likely a friend of the bride. He did not look familiar at all. Shortly thereafter, I found out that the last time I had seen this nicely dressed young man he was my grand niece. I apologized profusely. He understood. The last time we had spent together, we had a nice conversation over a glass or two of wine at Thanksgiving three years ago. She had just come out as a lesbian then and some of the family seemed to be avoiding her. I told her than that I supported her 100% and I renewed that for him.

FCD should be home in about an hour. He called and said he didn’t want supper so I won’t be ordering Chinese - leftover soup it is. Which is probably good, because the gut is making weird rumblings. I don’t have time to get sick, dammit.
