Going back to school in the MMP

Afternoon all. Drove about the countryside today, went to Arab (pronounced A-rab) down here to find a soccer field I’ve never been too (no games due to the rain, but I wanted to know it for my own sake). Then over to Gunthersville and shopped at a place called Crazy Cazboys, which has been advertising itself recently. Not worth it, they dump large quantities of stuff you have no use for in large tubs and you and the rest of the customers play Go Fish…not my style of shopping. Then over to Scottsboro and browsed the pickings at the Unclaimed Baggage Store, which has pretty much anything you might find in, well, unclaimed baggage. Didn’t pick up anything, but had a nice browse. Then on home, 150 miles covered in about 4.5 hours, so at least I got out of the house.

FCM, take care, the soreness will get started soon enough. And hope gut settles down.

hippy, never had that happen, but if it does I hope I handle it with the class you did.

Bumba, being an old folk myself (67), I don’t disagree with you, but some old old folks do need help in reaching decisions…as I know from personal experience.

Hope the COVID tests are negative.

Nettie, that’s a pretty epic sleep. We can fool our bodies for awhile, but it’ll catch up. And happy you’re making it to church–safely I trust.

Butters, hang in there. I probably need to subscribe to a service or two, just can’t see myself watching that much TV. We’ll see.

Sunny, I could easily loan you some rain. We’re having a short break now, but more is on the way.

Now to forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.

And he’s home, safe and exhausted. Higgs is happy.

Howdy Y’all! We lazed about, napped, lazed about some more, and then made and et sup. Now we shall laze about some more. Sloths got nuttin’ on us today!

MOOOOOOM glad FCD made it home safe and sound. Ouchie on the fall! Hope you’re not too banged up and bruised.

MetalMouse sounds like quite the tour of nawth Alabammy.

ETA: Hippie you handled that well!

Hello, Mumpers. Thanks for all the kindness toward my itchy self. I was so itchy last night, I didn’t think I could sleep, but I finally dozed. Woke up at 3:30 and decided that qualified as morning, and I took the prednisone. It helped a little, but I was still quite itchy, so I added an antihistamine. I’m probably only 50% as itchy as I was last night, so progress, I guess.

Bumba, thanks for the lotion recommendation.I’m about to walk to the drug store to see if they have any. I have some Rx topical steroid cream I’ve been using. Sometimes it helps a bit, sometimes it doesn’t.

Moooom, sorry about the fall. What a sweet girl Roxy is! Glad FCD made it home OK.

Kudos to you, hippie. What a shame others are not so understanding.

I agree about autonomy and older folks, even when it’s worrisome. They get to decide where and how to live. Hopefully we all agree driving is not their call when they don’t recognize they can’t drive safely. I’m “only” in my early sixties, but I’m glad I recognized I don’t see well enough to drive. Hurting or killing someone else would have devastated me.

2nd sort ended early, so I went to pick up some floss at HT, and beer fell into my cart. I got Gordie to go out at 4, wich is good, since Delta started raining as we were walking back to the apartment. Having a G&T, but no Chinese tonight.

“And get out from under my lawn!” - Gordie, to The Invisible Mole People.

Good for you, hippie.

Good that you’re slightly less itchy, nellie.

Hope you and the wife are negiative, Bumba.

Instacarted some supplies. Since they were doing a decent promotion on Stouffers products, I ended up with enough that I wound up playing a nice game of freezer Tetris to get stuff in and semi-organized. Still mostly in sloth mode, but I think I’m going to hold off until evening to take out the trash so I don’t have to bother changing out of inactive wear.

Inactive wear right now is defined as a past-knee-length, reasonably high-necked nightshirt in a very opaque fabric. This thing is more modest than some of the stuff I see others in at work.

I’m officially beat. I think it’s time to head to bed. Try to behave while I’m in slumberland!!!

Thank you all. Charlie is La Famiglia and I will always have his back.

I’m glad that Charlie has an ally in his UncleHippy.

Ouch Mooooooooom. Hope that you’re not too sore tomorrow. Glad FCD had an uneventful trip home.

Delta rained all outdoor events out today, but I got the mending and laundry done. All this talk about chili made me hungry for it. I’m no chili snob, so I hit Wendy’s for a large, then swung through Arby’s for some sweet potato waffle fries to go with. Weird, I know, but hey, it worked for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

OMG!!! I found the spot where I hit when I fell today, and it’s not a good spot for a back sleeper. I hope the acetaminophen kicks in soon. This isn’t going to be a good night, methinks…

:sob::sob::sob:

Alos, in honor of Canadian Thanksgiving:
I am Canadian

Coasters in the dishwasher, Swampy, not toasters!
Gosh darn it, do I have to do everything?

I caught and acclimated the Mary Miller blenny and one of the emerald crabs to the KPAquatics tank. The other emerald carb climbed into a rock and wouldn’t move for shit. I could grab him, but he wouldn’t let go. He is now the only sensile occupant of the rock flower anemone tank, darn his eyes.

I had to look up emerald crab. They’re beautiful!

Well, PPP 2020 is done and it was epic in many ways. Kopek and I went every year since 1997 and this was my first one without him. The weather was perfect and the crowds were huge - good for the park, but damn!

We got word last week that the park had put together an event for the enthusiasts and we had a wonderful attendance, with 2 solid hours of ERT on Phoenix. I got 9 rides, with 2 in the front seat (the best seat in the entire park).

A lot of friends were there and said nice things about Kopek, and tears were shed on the bench in front of his beloved bumper cars while a good friend sat with me and understood. Said good friend also told me something incredibly stunning and unexpected, never to be repeated.

My Gentleman Caller was unable to make it but I told a few friends about him and they’re happy for me.

I can’t wait to get home tomorrow and see if my kitties missed me.

I said a guy bought my Bolex-Paillard underwater housing. So I went to mail it today, only to find that the Pos Office is closed on Saturdays. I drove down to Bellingham and was able to mail it from there.

I ordered a gas cap off of eBay. It’s from China, so I hope it fits. When I get the ignition switch, I wonder if a locksmith can make it so everything works with the original key?

Pulled pork and coleslaw for dinner tonight. I also had a couple of classes of wine, and a couple of Manhattans.

Hey, what’s that stuff called- it’s some kind of string that people were making bracelets with a few years ago. It’s called like… commando string or tactical rope or something. The idea was supposed to be that if you were lost in the woods or whatever, you could take your bracelet apart and… have string? I don’t know. They were popular with bro types for a minute.

My problem right now is that my wheelchair pedals/foot rests stick way out in front of it, which makes it hard to turn/navigate without banging into/scratching walls and doorjambs and such. I can (and do) take the pedals off, but that’s a pain and it’s hard to move around that way. So I’m looking for something like a foot sling- that I can hook onto the chair that will hold my feet off the floor, but not way out in front of me. I once saw something made for this purpose out of… guerilla yarn? and it doesn’t seem too hard to learn how to make those things, so I thought I might try, but I can’t remember the name of the stuff and now it’s bugging me.

Parachute cord?
Try googling that and see if that is what you meant. If I knew how to insert images, I would, but I’m lucky I got this far…

Less than your Gentleman Caller.

That’s it.

Hope the drugs work for you, FCM.

that’s it. Paracord. Thanks!
