Boo, didn’t even know there was a ‘high dose’ vaccine, I just took what the Drs. Office gave me (haven’t had a case of the flu in about 16 years, so it shouldn’t matter).
{{nellie}}, itches that you can’t scratch are the worst. Hope it gets better.
FCM, gotti, good wishes on the refinancing. May it work out the way you planned.
It is licensed for those geezers 65 and older. Designed to evoke a better immune response in light of our decrepit immune systems. Also supposedly leads to fewer hospitalizations in geezers and geezettes.
Here’s an interesting snippet from CDC re: high-dose flu vaccines, what, why and what it does:
My daughter-in-law posted school photos of the grandkids today. Dang, those are some cute kids! Considering I’ve never been one to swoon over small children, that’s saying something. Or maybe senility has finally set in.
Replaced the security light on the garage this morning. I had to haul out the extension ladder for the job, which set the Ms into fits, as she thinks that I’m going to fall to my death every time I get more than a foot off the ground. This regardless of the fact that I spent my working life in the construction arena. Anyhow, old quartz fixture gone, new LED fixture installed. Woot! The only bad part is the back pain that comes any time I do the least strenuous thing. Fuck a bunch of arthritis.
Been looking semi-seriously at Costa Rica as somewhere to go if the election goes screwy. Lots of expats, nice climate, good services, reasonable costs, and not all that difficult to emigrate to. If we sold our house, we could live like royalty there.
I take it that FCD took the scenic route Mooooooom?
dot, it sounds like your therapist doesn’t have the patience for group. As far as cooking goes, I set aside 2-3 hours to do meal prep for the week and microwave the leftovers or leftovers from the freezer for supper most evenings. Scheduling it tends to get me past the dontwannas.
Next week’s menus and grocery list are done (and yes, metal mouse, bananas are on the list). Last night, I had weird dreams all night and remembered them when I woke up. That’s highly unusual. I should be set at irk for my long weekend. I want to get the bike out at least one day, but there are things here at home that need to be done too.
Put a pedometer app on my phone after last weekend’s shifts from hell. Today was a light day, for a number of reasons, and I logged 4.5 miles (about 11,337 steps) over around nine hours of work.
Dinner is boxed frozen food, plus a mini tube of croissants. Ooooh.
Determined to actually get some shit done tomorrow.
Frick. Antihistamines are not working. It’s going to be a very long night. I’ll have to try prednisone in the morning. (Hate, hate, hate that drug.) I’d do it tonight, but I’d be up all night. Of course, the itching might see to that anyway.
It’s definitely the dermagraphism not responding to meds. Here’s the fun little test: I draw my thumbnail down my skin and wait 5 minutes. If I have a giant welt, it’s the dermagraphism.
Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and mostly cloudy for the day. Or it could be mostly N.O.S. TWPTB really need to adjust their meds. Summer is sayin’ hello again. Looks like a rainy next three days however. We shall see. No big items on today’s agenda. I have some errands that need doin’ so I suppose I shall betake myself out and about as this is most likely the best day to do so. Sup shall be grilled chikin and sallit, one of our favorite meals.
Flyboy glad the bike was found and hope it’s not too beat up.
Nellie I hear ya re the prednisone. I had to take it once and was an a$$hole the whole time. On the plus side it did to the trick.
ace so sorry about your neighbor!
wordy don’t worry. You’re doin’ what’s best for your child and from what you’ve learned, for others as well. The Principal and whoever else needs to know about that teacher.
Boo because I was curious, I went back and checked on the flu vaccine I got a couple of weeks ago, and sure enough I got the high dose geezer one.
MOOOOOOM hope things go well for FCD and his folks. Maybe he can convince them it’s time.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe, and bother, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. The purtifyin’ is never a problem, btw, I do shave and shower everyday because hygiene is our friend, it’s the havin’ to put on real clothes that is such a chore!
I was exhausted and I crashed early last night, which meant I was wide awake at 4 this morning. rah. But I’ve tended to the morning routine, with the addition of cleaning a pile of cat hork (fortunately, it was on the kitchen floor, not the new carpet.)
The door I painted yesterday definitely needs a second coat, and with luck, I can get that done while Roxy is napping, but it will probably have to wait till after she goes home. Two more rugs are being delivered today - the one for the dining room and the one that will go in front of the garage and basement doors. Both are the same design, just in different sizes. Then we’re just awaiting one more small throw rug.
No decisions on the curtains, tho.
Pretty day forecast today, and rain from Delta this weekend, if the weather guessers are to be believed. I’m glad I got the mowage done - and before the rain, I’m going to spread some clover seed, especially on the bald spots in the yard. I need to mix it with grass seed. Hope the rain isn’t a major deluge, or we’ll have grass and clover in the woods and bald spots continuing in the yard.
Wound up sleeping something like 15 hours yesterday, and had to call in sick today- then immediately went back to bed. Getting dizzy and exhausted doing nothing.
If I’m no better tomorrow I’ll call the doctor, but summat’s not right. No fever or cough or other symptoms of The Thing, at least- I have a sneaky feeling it’s stress from this job, especially as today was supposed to be the very long day with the course at the end of it. Or it’s a return of the thing I had years back when my blood pressure just started dropping with no warning, and no-one ever found out why, it just got better after a bit… I’m out of bread and milk, so I might attempt to walk to the shop round the corner shortly, but that involves putting proper clothes on, which seems like a lot of effort right now.
When I rolled onto the scene, I got out of the car and looked across the street. My first thought was, ‘That’s not my bike.’ The thieves has painted most of it. It used to be royal blue with mid-'90s silver/grey graphics. Now it was flat black, except for the upper half of the gas tank. When I got closer I saw several things. The passenger grab handles were gone. The small rack, which was extremely useful despite it’s deceptively small size, was gone The right-rear passenger peg was gone. The ignition block was gone. A toggle switch was hanging from a gap between the fairing and the gas tank. Now, the reason I wasn’t riding the bike was that I couldn’t open the gas cap. the thieves pried it until it broke in half. They covered it with a big square of strapping tape.
The deputy said I could take the bike, but I’d need a trailer. It occurred to me that if a perpetrator had ridden it there, I should be able to ride it. I tried the toggle switch in both positions, and it was completely dead. I went to my car and got the only suitably-sized piece of metal I have in it: one of those cheap folding camping knives with the spoon and the fork, which can be separated into two halves (so you can use two utensils at once). I tried shorting the battery terminals. Nothing. Later the resident who reported the bike said that the light was on when he first saw it, and it was off when he called the cops.
But about that battery. It’s under the seat, you know. I had a key with me, and took off the seat to try my battery-shorting experiment. When I put the seat on, it was loose in front. I tried again. Still loose. I was about to try a third time, ensuring that the catch on the bottom of the seat engaged the bale on the frame, only to find that the bale had been removed.
The resident was a super nice guy. I wanted to ask him if I could conceal the bike until I could come back today and take it away one way or another. Before I could complete the question, he offered to let me put it into his multiple RV-sized garage. (He’s got nice toys in there.) Before I could complete my thought about coming over with jumper cables, he said he could put it on the charger overnight. So sometime after the sun comes up, I’ll have a shower and get over there to see if I can bring my ride home. (I’ll have to wait for Mrs. L.A. to see her patient to retrieve the other vehicle.) After stowing the motorcycle, the resident, his wife (I’m assuming) and I walked out to where the cops were. He asked if he needed to make a statement, even though he didn’t actually see the perps riding my bike. The deputy said it wasn’t necessary in that case, and that the perps had basically confessed.
The deputy pointed to the helmet that was beside the bike. He told me I could have it. Yeah… I really don’t want to put some heroin addict’s helmet on my head. The deputy said he understood and would just book it into evidence.
Morning all. Too add to the MMP aches and pains list, my back left shoulder hurts when I sleep and then change position. During the day and moving about the house it doesn’t bother me at all, but if I’m sleeping on it, the pain can be sharp enough to wake me. And now my left ear (not internally but the the outside portion) started hurting this morning when I moved. Have no idea why, maybe flip the bed today and see if that helps.
Otherwise, one last beautiful day (heading for 83F) before the rains show up to spoil the weekend (or so sayeth the weather folks). Soccer coaching this evening but not much else on the agenda.
flyboy, glad to hear you got your bike back; hope it’s not in bad shape.
Feel better soon, Nut. A 24-hour bug is not uncommon, just take care and don’t stress yourself.
nellie, hope you were able to sleep well (or at least some) last night.
shoe, looks at it this way, at least you don’t have to join a gym to get your exercise…
cookie, I don’t like to get on ladders all that much anymore, but I never was much for house repairs. And living alone…
OK, need some instant Break-fast and onward into the day.
Oh – The tool kit, and the little Pelican case that held my documents and occasionally my hex wrenches, were gone. I didn’t have my hex wrenches in the box, though.
The license plate was from another bike. The weird thing is that the deputy said the plate, which had a 2017 tag on it, was registered to me. I don’t remember leaving an old plate lying about (Washington requires new plates every seven years), and my R1 still has its plate. Weird.
These guys were real knuckleheads. While they probably sold the missing parts, they could have gotten more money if they just parted it out. The wheels with the almost-new tires are probably worth more than the rest of the bike. Instead, they’re riding an obviously-stolen (because of the missing ignition block) bike around with a stolen plate with a long-expired tag. Morons.
I’m sorry to hear about your motorcycle, Johnny, definitely glad they caught the perps, though.
I’ve had my morning waddle (way, way, way too many steep hills) but my brains are a little mushy this morning seeing as it took me until about 1 am to come down from stress. Hence, getting up this morning for said waddle sucked.
I’m drinking gallons of coffee to restore the aforementioned brains, but so far it’s been unsuccessful. One cool thing I saw this morning was a hawk fly right by me (about 6 feet) with a critter in its talons. I’ve never seen one that close, so it was cool to watch. I love my backyard. Sometimes I want to set up the tent back there and sleep. That’s not weird, is it?!
