It would be helpful if you actually understood what the majority of the conclusions here are. Of course, if you could actually wrap your head around what people are actually saying then you probably would have already apologized and this thread would have been over on the first page. Also, if you were bright enough to actually understand what people are saying you wouldn’t be nearly as annoying as you are…and then it wouldn’t be you. C’est la vie.

No one is accusing you of being a homophobe or intentionally offensive because you used the term “faggy”.

Gonzo, can’t you see that no one is arguing that you insulted poodles because you called poodles faggy. They are arguing that you insulted homosexuals because you called poodles faggy.
You didn’t call a person faggy, but you used faggy as a pejorative term. The only way “faggy” can be a pejorative term is if there is something wrong with being faggy. Since being faggy means to act like a homosexual, your use of faggy as a pejorative term only makes sense if you think homosexuality is wrong. That means you hurt the feelings of men who prefer sex with other men, and everyone else who doesn’t believe homosexuality or effeminacy is wrong.
Since you say you don’t think homosexuality is wrong and I believe you, we can grant that you hurt their feelings out of ignorance. For most people it would be difficult to believe that they could actually be that ignorant, but I think given your track record it isn’t unbelievable in your case, you really are that ignorant.
Now, since you hurt someone’s feelings out of ignorance rather than maliciousness, what next? The proper thing to do is say something like, “Gee, I’m sorry I hurt your feelings, I didn’t understand that calling poodles with stupid haircuts ‘faggy’ would be offensive. I apologize for giving offense, and I will undertake to refrain from giving offense from now on. I appreciate that you took the time to explain this to me, because now I won’t go around hurting people’s feelings by accident.”

Well…I’d say rather that people in this thread are making an observation, i.e. you are an idiot. However, the crux here is they are making a PERSONAL observation…not a categorical one. It’s the difference between calling someone lazy who IS lazy (an individual) and calling all Hispanic lazy spics. You are making a generalized statement by calling the poodles ‘faggy’ because you are insulting an entire group and making not so veiled references to said group by doing so.
You used the equivalent term of ‘those kikes are sure tight with their money’. It’s kind of sad that you still don’t see it, but then you really ARE stupid (as well as ignorant…a not so unusual combination, though I can’t say I’ve ever seen it concentrated in one person to this extent before), and I suppose that this point I actually am inclined to feel a bit sorry for you. Not really. Certainly I don’t attempt to take the moral high ground. I have my own prejudices and blind spots. One of the major one’s I’ve had to overcome in fact is my (irrational and stupid) prejudice against all things Spanish. It was part of my own upbringing and one of my greatest failings, and it’s taken me years to overcome my knee jerk reaction…thanks in no small part to posters here on the 'dope who have pointed this (as well as myriad other) flaw in my personality. They HELPED me by being so critical. It’s a shame you are unable and probably unwilling to put this in context and learn something from it.

Sorry I did not respond lately but I was watching the Gay and Lesbian Task force speakers on Keynote. I though Kate Clinton and Rea Carey were pretty good. didn’t you?
