Good Alive: The Evil Dead forbidden thread

Bravo! PM coming your way.

Well, strictly speaking, that post should not have appeared in the Forbidden Thread. Forbidden Thread is for unspoiled discussion. The exchange between storyteller and peeker was predicated on spoiled information.

God do I ever wish that I could sub back in right now.

Oh, wait, except that I’d be subbing in as Mahaloth. Still, I’d love to give them a telling off for their ridiculous PM nitpicking. How many times has that actually turned up scum, compared to the number of times a townie has been lynched because “mod X would never write anything with a comma splice!”

It’s probably a good thing that I’m not subbing back in if that’s the extent of my reading comprehension right now. :smack:

FFS people, actually check your PMs before posting ridiculous things like this. The post count you see in any post or PM is always the current post count, not the post count at the time that the post was made/PM was sent. Five seconds of checking an old PM would confirm this.

I really hate being dead.

Confirmation bias at its best and most blatant.

In light of Normal’s case, I really question whether this is genuine confirmation bias or Plankton consciously trying to spin the facts in favour of the result that he wants.

first, i am not spoiled in any way other than as my capacity as a dead scum.

second, i don’t think anything i said had anything to do with that knowledge. merely, a universal truism that i try to follow when i am scum. namely that as scum i tend to find it prudent not to give out any information unless it is going to save your ass.

I should have said “exchange” instead of “post.”
I did not mean to imply that peeker did something out of line.

If it weren’t for storyteller’s post that his membership status had in fact changed, I’d be viewing that as conclusive evidence against Mahaloth, because really, who would expect that something like his membership status changing would just happen to happen in that very narrow window between Mahaloth posting that and it being noticed? Yeah, a Scum could have very easily avoided that pitfall, but could also have fallen into it somehow, and there’s no chance at all a truthful player could have screwed up that way.

But then storyteller made his post. Huh. Well, coincidences happen.

And as an aside, he’s going to have a really hard time continuing to moderate unless he re-ups. The guest PM box is much smaller than for a member.

Give me access to the spoiled forum and I’ll explain it

I didn’t know this.

If someone in the game makes this connection then they should be able to see in-game evidence of storyteller’s status having changed recently. During the Great Book PM Spamming of Day Two, storyteller explicitly references the copious number of PM’s received. Since multiple players have indicated they asked to steal the book and presumably none of them had their PM bounce, that is credible evidence that during Day Two storyteller was a “member” but obviously now he is not. So his switching status after Mahaloth cut and paste is absolutely plausible!

Of course storyteller saying so works too, which was the best move given the circumstances.

OK, so I think we can now pretty safely call Drain Bead confirmed. The only plausible explanations for the skipped Night are her spell, or a power from the book, but none of the book power descriptions look like a match, and besides, it’s currently presumed to be in the hands of Scum. And I can’t imagine a Scum being given the power to skip a Night, since it’d almost always hurt them more than it helped (and in the rare case where it would help them, they wouldn’t know that in advance).

In other news, I’ve now created my wiki page and fleshed out the one for the Cecil Pond game. So you’uns can go ahead and vandalize them now.

I just want to point out that storyteller did not create the forbidden thread so I’m not surprised that he won’t modkill players for reading it.

In Marvel Mafia story gave the scum several powers that were way more pro-Town than they were pro-scum, to give them the option to use them to look Townie.

Drain Bead’s spell is sounding more and more like the Dread Forgetting to me…

I’m not seeing that, myself. The book curses appear to all be targeted. And it appears to have also negated other powers, not just those that have a “victim”. I think it’s very safe to say that whatever it was was a power of Drain Bead’s; the only question is whether that’s a Town power or a Scum one.

Mrs. McGinty’s overreaction to the minuscule amount of pressure that he’s getting looks really suspicious to me. It reminds me of my reaction to the votes I picked up in Cecil Pond because I was the only unknown(compared to something like 9 known town) to vote for a scum player. It was really frustrating to me that the only suspicions that I picked up(besides story’s) were for doing an unambiguously pro-Town thing. McGinty seems way to focused on the fact that she’s not getting pro-Town cred for going after peeker, and that doesn’t strike me as being a townie reaction.

Yeah, I had a sort of vague Town hunch on her (I use the feminine pronoun because she chose a clearly feminine name) until this morning, but this whole business of “Poor innocent me, being picked on unjustly by everybody” really rubs me the wrong way, too. I’d be worried if I were Town and I wasn’t getting that amount of pressure. Anyone who’s not yet confirmed should have some pressure put on them; that’s the nature of the game.

I’m spoiled now, so I’ll stay out of this, but I’m really curious to see your answers to this question:

Who do you think is scum? Why?
