Good fast food / bad fat food

“Good” is a toughie, because it’s hard for one greasy blob to outshine all others. But for “bad”, I’ll nominate Subway’s “Chicken Parmesan Sub”. I was all pumped to try it, and then…major letdown. You can’t cover chicken strips with sauce and processed cheese and call it “chicken parmesan”! You just can’t!

They don’t have a picture on the KFC website, although they do (unfortunately for me) have its nutritional information (690 calories and 31 grams of fat – and I’ve eaten two of them this week  ) Perhaps is isn’t yet in full distribuation. There are TV ads around here for it (where I saw it first) and a rather poor picture here.

Jimmy John’s subs. ‘Subs so fast you’ll freak’ is their motto, and it’s pretty much true. You order, you pay, bam, there’s your sub. And they’re goooooood. Fresh ingredients. The funny thing is, Subway always says ‘fresh ingredients’, but with JJ’s, you can tell. The other nice thing is that there’s like… four different meats to choose from, and a sub that incorporates each type, as well as each type of combination thereof. The gargantuan is a heart-attack-on-fresh-bread, but it’s to die for.
I still like Browns Fried Chicken biscuts as a guilty pleasure, even thought I shudder once worked there.
Oh, and a shout out to A&W. I have no idea what it’s like in the rest of the nation, or even if it -is- in the rest of the nation, but the one near here has good food at a decent price, and the waitstaff is ALWAYS cheerful, helpful, and just plain nice. They get massive kudos from me just for that.

Oh wow. It looks delightful. Yeah, 31 grams of fat is a lot, though 690 calories isn’t all that bad, considering it’s a full meal. There’s that many calories in some burgers, and you get fries on the side as well. I haven’t seen the ads for it here, though there’s a good chance I’ve just missed it.

Ugh. I wanted to like it. No, I wanted to love it. I even went back three or four more times after the first git-wrenching experience. Each excruciating meal I’d find myself asking, “What am I doing here?” So, yes, this is hands-down the worst fast food in the history of man, God and angels. Sonic’s menu should be a case study for how not to make fast food. I would eat my own eyeball before putting myself through the torture that is Sonics. I even root against the Seattle Supersonics because seeing them play reminds me of horrible, horrible colon-rotting food. To sum up: Sonics is an abomination of nature brought to us from the deepest pits of hell by Satan himself, who brought it to earth because he couldn’t stand the smell of it festering in his backyard.

But their fries are pretty good.

It was worth the calories, for sure. And quite filling, too. I’ll definately make it my big meal of the day whenever I indulge in one. Then it wouldn’t be so bad… And I certainly won’t be able to contunue to eat one of them a day!

Same here. I could tell from the picture it was not promising, then I ate a free one with a coupon, and tossed most of it.

KFC has always frustrated me. Their menus are so convoluted. I wish they didn’t have combos because what I want never fits their combinations, so either I eat what I didn’t quite want or I feel I’ve overpaid.

Aha! The KFC famous bowl nutritional info!

I felt tiny arteries hardening up just reading this. :stuck_out_tongue:

For me? It’s the In&Out Double-Double.

In&Out has very good burgers, and Culver’s has really good fried chicken. Arby’s roast beef is pretty decent. All others range from servicable to disappointing, with KFC venturing far into disappointing.

What? No Panda Express or some equally yummy (and oh so bad for you) food court chinese?

Well, let me be the first then. I’ll have the fried rice, beef with broccoli, whatever unbreaded chicken there is and that red coloured pork if you got it. Egg roll? Yeah, why not.

Oooo, I’m gonna hate myself on the scale in the morning. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yum. So greasy, but so tasty.

Lord Ashtar-so did you continue the fight then?

Worst-I’d have to go with BK fries. What the hell is wrong with them? Nasty. Oh, and those leather pockets Mickey D’s calls “pies.” No, that’s NOT pie.
Best
-Arby’s roast beef and cheddar sandwiches
-Big Macs
-Subway roast chicken breast sandwhich

And though sadly, it’s no longer made: Wendy’s chicken caesar pitas. Oh, I miss them!

I couldn’t eat like that all the time, though. When I do fast food, I usually count it as lunch and dinner, or breakfast and lunch.
Subway, at least, has nice, fresh sandwhiches. I love their Italian herb bread, I don’t even need sauce then!

We still have one of the ‘old timey’ A&Ws in my town. They play 50’s and 60’s rock-n-roll songs and you sit in your car or in the picnic area and are served by carhops. Like ArrMatey!, I find that the food is good - mmmm, coney dogs! - and the prices here are roughly comparable to McDonalds/Burger King.

Fast food Chinese food is the greatest thing ever. I was getting it once a week for like 2 months…

Good: McD chicken nuggets (the only nugets I will eat)
McD fries and quarter pounder

Arby’s Roast Beef

Dairy Queen Blizzards

Bad: Sonic breakfast anything
KFC anything. There is nothing I will eat from KFC
Taco Hell anything

Where I live the two above death traps are together in one building.
I have never been inside.

I like Sonic. Decent fast-food burgers, onion rings, TOTS!, and a nice variety of drinks and desserts. Their strawberry lemonade and limeade are great (especially the frozen ones), with chunks of fruit in them, vanilla or coconut Cokes with crushed ice, and their shakes are pretty awesome too.

One of my favorite subs is Quizno’s Black Angus sub. I think Quizno’s is a bit expensive for what you get, but they are amazingly good, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. I also love their Batch 81 hot sauce, which is more of a sweet, thick barbecue sauce with a perfect spicy kick. In a pinch, I rather like Subway’s Italian BMT sub, but I love Italian subs and it’s really hard to screw that up anywhere.

Does anyone have Cajun Grill (or some variant franchise) in their mall food courts? I have a great weakness for their Bourbon Chicken, these tender bite-size pieces of chicken that are grilled and marinated in a sweet, sticky brown sauce. I’ve tried to duplicate this at home using similar recipes I found online, and haven’t come close to the goodness. I am now quite sure no actual bourbon is involved.

Good Fast Food:

Zankou chicken (roast chicken plate or chicken tarna plate)
Panda Express (I know, I’m a total pharisee)
Potbelly’s turkey sammich all-dressed
Mama’s poutine and chicken souvlaki pita in Montreal

Bad Fast Food:

anything taco hell, mickey dees

Middle Ground: BK and Subway’s is generally edible though BK fries suck.

I rather like McGriddles…

… I also hit reply too soon.

One of my vices is a taste for fast food, so my list of “good stuff” is pretty long. Recently I’ve been liking McDonald’s spicy chicken sandwich, or whatever they call it, and Panda Express gets more business from me than they probably should.

Fast food I don’t like is mostly the same stuff that I don’t care for in nicer establishments, either. Burger King’s burgers taste good going down, but I’ve been avoiding them for a while because they make me feel weird later.

You’re just not ordering the right things.

First off… Fries? You don’t order fries at sonics. You order tots.

As for the sandwich… Try the chicken toaster club.

A chicken toaster and tots is one of my fast-food guilty pleasures. That, and psuedo-beef and curly fries from Arbys.
