Whoppers own my soul, and I love me some KFC Twisters and McDonalds fries.
A&W is teh suck, but otherwise, I’ll eat most anything that isn’t Chinese food.

The worst fast food ever was Arby’s pot roast sandwich. It had some kind of beefy pot roast sauce, but it also had ranch sauce, and I think they threw some cheese in there, too. It was incredibly disgusting. Don’t they test-market those things? Do the people in their focus groups have any taste buds? Words can’t describe the foulness of Arby’s pot roast sandwich.
More bads–I used to like KFC, but the quality of their food is going down. They have nasty instant mashed potatoes, and everything else tastes chemically. Most fast food fries are nasty (Wendy’s and Hardee’s, I’m looking at you!)
Sonic is okay, and they have fun drinks, but their food always makes my tummy grumbly.
I love Jimmy John’s–their bread is addictive. Bojangles is my fast food addiction. Chicken biscuits and seasoned fries, sweet tea with lots of lemon. There’s a local place that has much better biscuits, but their chicken isn’t spicy and flat like Bojangles, so I have to go to Bojangles if I want a chicken biscuit. If I’m in the mood for something greasy, Chikfila fries taste good, with a grilled chicken sandwich. And about twice a year, I get a hankering for an Egg McMuffin.
Me too.
Taco bell’s baha chicken chalupa is to die for. What is that baha sauce? I would buy a gallon of it. MMM.
Everything I have ever gotten at sonic has been cold and limp and has taken forever to get. I hate the drive-in thing; I feel guilty when the people didn’t bring everything I wanted and have to go back to get ketchup or something, and I don’t like having to tip for fast food or feel like a cheap bastard if I don’t.
I’ll probably get flamed harder than a Whopper for this, but I have to say it: Popeye’s is nothing more than a pale imitation of Church’s. Similar menu, but not as good. And Church’s uses bigger birds. I used to work at one for a few years in high school and I still never got tired of the food, which is unusual for an employee of a fast food place. Popeye’s is just run better at the corporate level. Church’s latest blunder is discontinuing the corn nuggets [comic_book_guy]Best side item EVER![/comic_book_guy].
There’s a place called Tommy’s that I’ve never seen outside of the Los Angeles area that serves chili burgers. Everyone in L.A. goes nuts over them, but I think it’s positively revolting. “When I see the shack, I start to gack”.
Weinerschnitzel gets my vote for best fries.
The best street food I’ve ever had was in Tijuana Mexico. Guys would be out on Ave. Revolucion selling hot dogs wrapped in bacon. It helps if you’re drunk.
Ditto. I feel greasy just thinking about it.
Best (current):
Right now, Wendy’s Mandarin Chicken Salad. Extremely good, and relatively healthy. I see McDonald’s is copycatting it, so it’s probably selling well.
Best (all time):
Boston Market chicken dinner.
Worst (current):
Burger King french fries. Ever since they “improved” them ten years, they taste like soap. Horrible things.
Worst (all-time):
Wetson’s french fries. Soggy and left in the grease too long. Inedible.
Why the cheese?
You got potatoes, corn, gravy and chicken. All right. It’s like having a little Thanksgiving meal, only in a bowl.
But then, why the cheese?
If you were ever having potatoes, corn, gravy and chicken that wasn’t in a bowl, but spread out on a plate, would you ever think to yourself, “hmmmm, I think I’ll grate some cheese on this”?
I’ll just write this off as, if you have to ask. . .you just don’t don’t get it.
Mr Chau’s Chinese fast food in Sunnyvale. For 5-6 bucks you get two HUGE entree portions and rice or lo mien. I am a big eater and can hardly ever finish in one sitting. Definitely the best combination of taste and value.
I see you’re from Baltimore. If you were raised in Wisconsin (like me!), you’d know. Cheese makes *everything *better.
Keeping in mind there is only one or two things at each of the following places that I like, my list is:
Good: McDonald’s, Burger King, Arby’s, KFC, Popeye’s, Taco Bell, Portillo’s
Bad: Wendy’s, Brown’s Chicken
Good: Swenson’s Drive-In, which I think is only in the Akron/Canton area of Ohio. Killer milkshakes, good burgers, and a fried bologna sandwich that ElzaHub adores (I can’t make myself eat it). Very tasty.
Bad: Anything with fish. I’m not a fish eater to begin with, but breaded, fast food fish makes me ill just to smell it.

Never could get into Mr. Chau’s (I call it “Mr. Chau’s Wild Ride,” but I have no idea why anymore since I haven’t eaten there in many years ) but for a place where you can get a whole bunch of Asian-type food for a nice price, nothing beats Great Khan’s Mongolian Barbecue in my book. For a little less than $9.00 (including rice) you can pile your bowl to the sky. I usually don’t, since I like to finish it in one sitting, but I’ve seen people create feats of architecture in those bowls that look like they could feed a family of four for a couple of days. And it’s good stuff, too.
I can do better than Panda Express. My area is the home of Charlie Chiang’s, which has a few fast food outlets.
Dude, check out China-China ol El Camino in Santa Clara, Lunch $6.99 buys you an all you can eat buffet of Chinese food that knocks Mr Chau’s for six.
The only other person I know that feels this way about Tommy’s is someone who hates chili altogether. What’s your excuse?
Tommy’s is fantastic! Granted, there is better chili out there in the world, but the overall packages at Tommy’s can’t be beat.
I’ll grant you that. I had a chicken taco down there that was amazing, and I wasn’t even drunk. I guess I’d forgotten what fried food cooked with lard tasted like in this day and age of vegetable oil.

The worst is Wendy’s fries. They’re limp and sometimes half-rancid. They come unsalted so you have to take a salt packet and put salt on the topmost fries, and all over the vicinity. It runs out the bottom of the container.
My favorite is Chick-Fil-A Cool Wraps, especially Spicy, and their fries.
I also like Tacy Hell 7-layer burritos w/o sour cream, soft tacos, McD double-cheeseburgers, Whoppers, and Wendy’s Ultimate Chicken Grill.
Potbelly’s isn’t fast food. In my book they have to have some drive-thru’s to count.
I am not a fast food fan in general.
I don’t like Quiznos, KFC, Burger King or McDonald’s.
If forced to go there, I’ll get chicken.
If I’m hungry and in a hurry I’ll usually get a sandwich or wrap.
Fast foods I do like:
Felafel and kebabs. Pitta (or, in Zaytoon, flatbread straight from the oven) salad, sauce and either nice little felafel or slices of lamb sawn off “the stick”. Yummy. In Dublin, that means MoMo’s for drunken takeaway and Zaytoon for sitting in.
Fish and chips- battered haddock and chips with salt and vinegar, preferably eaten out of paper.
Do ready-made takeaway bento boxes of sushi count? I love those.
Indian street food is a little risky, but really good- bhajis, samosas, idly, dosas and grilled corncobs. I never became a fan of salted guavas though.
UIUC, actually, although I considered going to UW. I got addicted to Potbelly visiting my sister, who goes to NU.
Of course, the day I graduate is the day they open a Potbelly’s in Chambana. Then again, I would probably have swelled to Jabba size had they opened one during my tenure there.
I didn’t know Potbelly’s was an entire Midwest chain. I thought it was just in Chicago and environs.
