I volunteered for tomorrow somewhere back there since I hadn’t done one in a while. As long as that’s OK with everyone, of course. :smiley:

Glad to hear the celebration went so well, swampy.

Back from Target, where the entrance fee was more than $60. :eek: I bought a little bitty umbrella and a fold-up poncho for my Chicago trip. And a really lightweight (nylon) purse that’s big enough to hold a camera, small guidebook, and a few other necessities. I think my new umbrella might even fit in it.

Also found a lightweight lapdesk so that I can sit on the couch with the laptop a bit more comfortably, even when I have it pulled out into a bed.

Guess I should finish putting laundry away or something.

swampy, it’s never a chore to get him to go out to breakfast - that’s his favorite meal out of all. But we did have some cake this evening and it was super-duper-yummerrificioso!!

I did a little more glazing, but I’ve quit for the evening. I’m tired and it’s late. Hope I get another good night’s sleep. It’s been loverly the last 2 nights.

I’m still waiting for **Mr. Taters ** to get home from wakeboarding.

We’re supposed to be over at the neighbor’s around 7:00. He’s out with neighbor that’s having the party.

I’m kind of wondering if the party will still be a go because I know they brought beer with them today. I do know that even if the party is still a go, everyone that was out on the boat today will be totally wiped.

I guess we’ll see what happens.

Swampy, it the fete sounded very nice. It’s people like you that make this world a more pleasant place.

I’m feeling somewhat peckish. I should nosh on something, even though there is supposed to be lasagne and what-not at tonight’s shindig. I’ve got some of those min-bell cheese things. Maybe I’ll have one of those.

Jahdra’s right – knitting really is mostly just following directions; the counting has been done for you. Unless, as she said, you’re designing your own stuff. And alas, I need to design an Aran sweater for snowbunny…I’ve knitted a bunch of Aran sweaters, but this one I want to knit in the round 'cause I truly hate seaming up knitted stuff, and the fewer seams, the better. I should be able to avoid almost all the seams. I’ve got the yarn; I just haven’t had the time to sit and swatch and graph out a pattern. I expect I’ll be doing that next Saturday at the craft show with FCM. It’ll be a good chance to devote some time to it – and she’s an engineer so she can help me with my math difficulties! I truly am math-phobic, so if I can handle knitting, anybody can!

Speaking of knitting, I finally got the photos off my camera yesterday and here’s a photo of the bamboo scarf that I finished last week. It’s such a simple pattern, but the yarn is just so scrumptious!

I wanna learn how to do this–I just don’t have time right now. But as soon as I get out of grad school–I’m there! (I did buy a book, but IMO knitting is one of those things that you learn faster by watching and being tutored). <blushes> I even bought some purty burgundy, variegated yarn to make a scarf…
Watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail with #2 son tonight. We had planned on doing so a few weeks ago, but that fell through. It was good-- I still laugh at parts.
Tomorrow I move the astilbe and write my debate position. Fun times!

Jahdra, ewww, ewww. . . .ants! I saw someone in a post say that Windex works well on them. And I’ve had good luck with those Raid traps. But luckily it wasn’t to the point where it was a massive swarm of black.

rigs, you can learn simple knitting in a half hour. It’s just the same repetitious stitch over and over to make a scarf. Well, two stitches if you want to do knit and purl. (I’ve made one with all knit, but I didn’t like it.) And for a simple scarf, no counting is required except for the number of stitches to cast-on. The math comes in when you do complicated stuff like Jahdra and Mamatigs do. I don’t go there. And once you learn the stitch, it’s pretty mindless stuff, so you can do it pretty much do it while you’re doing other stuff.
