[Old] Lets have a healthy breakfast in the MMP

Recently, my breakfast includes such healthy things as half a banana (sliced over cheese cake with chocolate drizzled on it) with coffee (to make a white chocolate latte). I’m thinking that tomorrow morning I should add some dairy so will whip some fresh cream (and add sugar and vanilla).

I’m also thinking I will go to the junction and buy some French Vanilla ice cream for breakfast when I run out of cheese cake.

How do you guys take care of yourselves in the morning?

First!! Tis good to be juvenile … and up late.

Since I started working 2nd shift, my mornings consist mostly of a quick potty break & then going back to bed. Or nudging the cat off me, rolling over, and going back to sleep.

First meal of the day is break fast, so whatever you eat counts!

I’m up late watching the hummer feeders from the french doors. No bats so far, but I have crap eyes with good light, trying to see fast small black critters in the dark probably isn’t going to happen tonight or any night, so I’m headed off to bed now too.

W00T! SECOND!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Today’s post heave breakfast will be Aldi shredded wheat with blueberries, a banana, and toast.

Why am I still up? My go-to breakfast is a slice of whole grain bread with avocado, salsa, and cooked egg whites on it. However, the Costco cartons of egg whites have been hard to find of late, so sometimes I have a bowl of oatmeal with sugar-free cinnamon coffee flavoring, walnuts, sliced banana, and almond milk. I usually skip lunch, so I like food that sticks to your ribs. (Never understood that saying. Shouldn’t it be “stick to your stomach”?)

My daughter says she’s much better and is going to work tomorrow, probably too soon, but she has to get stuff done. Her hubs is still sick. She tried to isolate from him, but he said he’d rather get Covid than miss having her around. :two_hearts:

Son and DIL are coming here for Easter. Hurray! I’ll get to meet the new dog! I invited my daughter’s sister-in-law and her partner but haven’t heard back. It affects the menu because they’re vegan, and I need to plan. How long should I give them?

JtC, my daughter loved hearing about GG’s lazy efficient method of getting treats. His fans are legion.

My breakfasts are varied according to my mood. Sometimes it’s just PB&J on 12-grain toast. Sometimes I’ll scramble an egg and roll it up with cheese in a tortilla. Sometimes it’s cottage cheese and fruit. Or it could be leftover pizza. Today, it’ll be breakfast at Cracker Barrel before we do the Great Boat Move.

I woke just before 4, dammit, and couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I gave up around 5. FCD wants to get up at 7, at which time we’ll do the whole shower/dress/load the truck/head out to eat thing. The winds are light, and I hope they stay that way. I’m also hoping that after we get to the boat yard, I can leave FCD there and run some errands rather than stand around watching them pressure wash, move, then block the boat.

I’ll have Tobias tomorrow, then not again till the 18th, since Daughter will be on spring break. With luck, we can get a lot of boat-waxing done during that time. I foresee sore arms for the next few days at least, till I get some muscle built back up.

So let’s just have a peachy-keen Moanday!!!

Breakfast? What is that strange thing?

My breakfasting is very haphazard. Some days, especially lately, it’s been whatever cheap thing I can get on the road while shuttling kids. Sometimes it’s a Bolthouse or a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit. It just depends on time and what I feel like.

I woke up at 4 and keep contemplating my day. I know I should get up, get my shower, take my meds, etc before I have to take CtE to school, but lying under the covers is sooooo much more comfortable. And I’ve got 45 minutes before my alarm goes off.

Hubby’s foot is starting to feel better. He’s finding walking a lot easier. He’s relying on the cane less and less, though we did find out at the arcade yesterday that while waking is better, standing in one place isn’t as good for it. We suspect it’s the continued pressure that’s put on it trying to keep him upright. Next test will be seeing if he can drive. Oh please let him be able to drive! I really need relief from being the only taxi driver in this insane company!

What’s a Bolthouse? (My 1st thought was that it sounded like a craft ale, in which case … hey. I ain’t here to judge.)

Not really a “healthy” breakfast but it’s almost smoothie like and it’s better than nothing. Their Chai is delicious!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 74 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for later in the day. I shall work on the powerpoint thingy today in addition to the usual sloth and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be bbq sammiches made from the leftover pulled poke, slaw, and oven fries. I’ve mentioned before that my go to breakfast is peanut butter and banana on toast. However, in a little while, I shall make some snausages ‘n bizkits due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’.

Everyone have fun doin’ your thangs today. Or at least get through doin’ 'em without too much trouble.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward to snausage and bizkit makin’! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I often have a banana (or 1/2 a banana) in my porridge.

(ooh ! The category name has changed !)

I really wish caffeine affected me like everyone else. Instead of waking me up, it makes me drowsy. I haven’t figured out anything to actually wake me up yet.

Snausage and bizkit sounds so good! Sadly, it’s not something I can eat one handed while driving CtE to school. But, maybe this weekend…

While I was working breakfast was just black coffee almost every morning. Since retiring I have been eating buttered rye toast with my coffee most mornings.

Morning all. Not sure what I had to drink last night, but I was up to micturate fours times during the night, last was a 6am so I gave up and got out of bed. And not false alarms, a steady 15-30 second stream each time (I know, TMI for a Moanday morning…). We’ll see if my kidneys calm down or if I have something else to worry about.

Folks from the furniture store should be by this afternoon to disassemble my sectional, so I can really see what/where the leaking is. Then get the plumbers back. Oh joy.

Raining right now and it will continue until 10am or so, supposed to get to 70F later today.

I usually have only two meals a day, first meal is between 10am-12pm and second is 6-7pm, with the occasional snack in-between. Only breakfast thing I eat is the “Instant Brreakfast” (now called Breakfast Essentials) three-four times a week. I do try to have two bananas a day just because.

Real Fish, glad Hubby’s foot is doing better.

Nellie, enjoy the family get-together at Easter.

JtC, Your reasoning for this breakfast (on the old MMP) sounds a lot like the disgraced comedian Bill Cosby’s take on why giving his kids chocolate cake for breakfast is a good thing. Now you got me wanting all those things…

Have a good week, all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 9c/47f with a predicted high of 11c/51f out there, and sunny. View from my window agrees with the sunny bit, but I haven’t been outside to test the rest. Weather app says “Don’t forget to share you stupid fucking weather reports with friends”. That’s what I’m doing!

From last week…doggio yes, the summer exams period is also a summer exasperation period! I got copied into emails today with students complaining that they have “back to back exams”, by which they actually mean they’re on consecutive days. Two points there - first, the exams timetable isn’t finalised yet so the dates might change (and staff were asked to notify us of any issues by a date about 2 weeks ago), and secondly, the timetable is for staff only and shouldn’t be shared with students.

Also from last week, shoe secondments are exactly what Oopsie said, it’s a chance to go and work in a different dept for a while, usually covering maternity leave or long-term sickness absence. We used to use agency staff but that’s expensive, so the uni likes to shuffle staff around instead. It’s a good chance to see how things are done in other depts, we are all using the same software to achieve the same things at the same time, but somehow everywhere is just a little bit different in their approach.

So…breakfast…I’m kind of good with breakfast. Usually I have either overnight oats (oats, protein powder, yogurt and frozen berries) or granola and defrosted berries. Today I fancied toast and marmalade, and since I’m working at home, I was able to do that.

But it’s lunchtime now, and the cat is looking at me as if he knows it’s time to find something tasty in the fridge for him.

My usual breakfast at home is 1 microwave poached egg, a big lump of cottage cheese or plain full-fat yogurt, a very small amount of whole grain bread with a mountain of non-sweet PB on it, and a tangerine or equivalent amount of not-sweet berries.

On the road, it’s what I can find that’s low carb. e.g. yesterday in Dallas that was 2 over easy eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 forkfuls of home fries w peppers, a slice of deli ham & two of cheese, a big dollop of plain yogurt & an ounce-ish each of pineapple & blueberries.

I always find it entertaining that menus breathlessly describe their “healthy option” items where 90% of the calories are in the form of pure sugar, and the last 10% are white flour. Plus maybe 1/10th of an ounce of fiber.

Yeah, right: that’s exactly the ingredient list that’s obese-ifying and diabetes-ifying the whole damned world right now: way too much sugar + refined carbs and not much else. Harrumpf!!

As to today: Slept in a bit, due to staying up to late for no good use. Wandered down the street to hit the ATM for some cash and back home to sit on the balcony and chew the fat with all you yahoos while absorbing my morning pot … of coffee.

Promises to be another warm & simple day in paradise. I’m eligible for being called to irk for another 3 hours then my 2-1/2 day weekend starts. During which I hope to be called for overtime, but almost certainly won’t be.

Should get my car back from the shop late this afternoon. I didn’t greatly miss it for the 9 days they’ve had it, but somehow it still feels sorta naked not to have one at the ready. Of course we also have Her Ladyship’s car, but that’s not the same.

Oh, you poor, deprived people! I change things up from day-to-day. Today will be savory oatmeal with an over easy egg on top and a bit of bacon. But I usually do something different every day, with no particular rotation order: pancakes, scrambled eggs, breakfast burrito, fried egg sandwich, French toast, eggs and fried potatoes, fried eggs on toast, toasted bagel with salmon cream cheese, tomato and bacon. Of course, I’m no longer cursed with a work commute, so that makes it easy.

It varies, but my power breakfast (trying to cut back on the carbs and the meats) is to sauté 2-4 brown mushrooms (depending on size), some chopped onion (or green onion or a shallot), sliced cherry tomatoes, and 1/4 to 1/2 a chopped jalapeño (depending on how spicy it is) in olive oil, with a dash of salt. Then pour 1-2 eggs’ worth of cartoned no-cholesterol egg mix onto the veggies to create a scramble. Heat-up small tortillas in another pan, the spoon some scramble onto the tortilla and top with sliced avocado and add a couple dashes of Mexican hot sauce. Makes 2-3 breakfast tacos. And, of course coffee, black (like my soul).

Good morning.

I am in the office today and when left the house there was snow on all the cars in my neighborhood. Fortunately, I keep my rig in the garage.

Breakfast. For years, breakfast was strong, black coffee. However, I I now have a banana and yogurt most every day. When I’m constantly exercising, I also have a couple of boiled eggs.

I need to get to it today. The emails are stacking up and it’s only 5:43.

For decades I began my day with the breakfast of champions: cup of coffee and 2 cigarettes. After that kickstart I’d have solid fud. Alas, I no longer smoke. Breakfast is still coffee, but I’ve added half a grapefruit and 2 scrambled eggs. Same breakfast every day.

Rain is predicted and I have my “rain is coming” headache. I will head for the chiro and the gym later. My shoulder is going through its donwanna phase, so exercise shall be walking and stretching.
