In the fire’s glow I see her
Grilling babybacks in the rain
When the flames came up and burned them
I knew we’d never eat again
Meals can be like dying embers
Only memories remain
Through the ages I remember
Baby backs burning in the rain
In the fire’s glow I see her
Grilling babybacks in the rain
When the flames came up and burned them
I knew we’d never eat again
Meals can be like dying embers
Only memories remain
Through the ages I remember
Baby backs burning in the rain
Y’all are awful! Good thing I consider that a good quality.
Dindin tonight is meatloaf, succotash, mac and cheese and cornbread. I know I said smoked poke chops but all the talk of meatloaf got me to have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for meatloaf. The poke chops can be dindin tomorrow.
We’re having either homemade pizza, or tacos. Both are easy after a trying day back at work, that feels like a Monday even though it’s not! Ha!
I am sooooo domestical! I came home and put together 2 peach streusal pies! It was fairly easy since I’d sliced up a mess o’Amish peaches over the weekend and I bought a couple of shells. In fact, I just took them out of the oven and they smell yummerrific!!
Supper will be miscellany - either leftover poke from yesterday or half a chickie tit from last week or weenies. Or crabs. And pie.
Today was daughter’s first day of school. As of last week, they expected 86 5th graders (Last year, they had around 60). It’ll be interesting to see how many they ended up with. I think I mentioned that the county redrew the school district lines, and some kids were getting teacher assignments in one school and bus assignments to another. In a county with three whole elementary schools… Anyway, can’t wait for the stories.
I was boss at work today. My boss was off and the coward waited till I left on Friday to send out the email saying I was it. Not that it was a big deal - I went to one meeting that was pretty much a waste of my time.
I like having Monday on Tuesday - Firday is one day closer!
It almost looks like rain today. I wish I was at home.
So, how was the phone interview, Missy?
Yay for first sock, taxi! I’ve only knit one pair so far and need to start my next pair.
Came home early today, but didn’t feel very well and had an ocular migraine that explained the not feeling so hot. Not awful, just kind of off with a bit of a headache.
Today’s MBG’s official anniversary, so:
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MBG and BusWife!
Off to get a few things organized.

This holiday thing gets me all messed up about the MMP so I am late to the game…again.
It is still summer in full swing here and will be at least till the end of the month. I love Fall here because it’s normally sunny and gently warm right up until Christmas. My Fall wardrobe will be switching over to slightly thicker short sleeved tops and pants of appropriate autumnal colors.
We grilled all weekend on the new toy. (A new Weber gas grill in case you missed it on Crackbook.)
I am just drooling over the thought of those pies, moooooom!
Tupug
Yeah, I think I calculated the fabric size wrong. And I can’t find my roll of masking tape. Consarn it, now I have to go back to de sto’.
Today Culinary Boy and I discovered that Arsey Alcoholic Ex-Roommate had not paid the water bill since January. How we still have water running out of all the faucets when we turn them on, I do not know. We paid for May through July since that’s when we actually lived here and Culinary will call the Lady In Charge tomorrow about some confusion about what they told us last month regarding the charges they were going to slap AAER with.
Have I mentioned how glad I am that Computer Boy is living here now? He and Culinary Boy are the coolest roommates I’ve ever had. I think I’m due considering my bad luck in that department over the last few years.
In good news, one of my booksnarks got posted on a blog! I did not enjoy Nickel and Dimed.
Dindin was nummy. We polished off the cake for dessert. YUM!
Taxi is makin’ a sock? That’s frowned upon in these parts is it not?
Dinner will be Turkey something…probably grilled with broccoli and sallit. Accept I need to go buy salad stuff. I am waiting on mr ems coming in so we can also go and pick up the new patio dining chairs I ordered in the pick-up so we will go get sallit then I guess.
I hate this job…grrrrrr. Wish the economy was better then I would have some options and also not be waaaaaay upside down on the house. Urgh. I need to snap out of this.
Chocolate may help. Possibly.
N&D was the school-wide book my last semester of community college. I hadn’t read it since then, which would be, um five years ago. I remember liking it. On the other hand, I was living with my parents at the time.
:eek::eek: I cannot believe you both gave away your rub formulae! Isn’t that supposed to be guarded with your life? And disclosure means you’re shunned for all respectable BBQ societies?
Baby backs are melting on the rack.
All the sweet brown glaze is flowing down
Someone left the grill out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
Cause it took so long to make it
and I’ll never have that recipe again!
Yaaaaaaaaay! Happy dance!
I just got my drivers license mailed back to me from Tulsa airport. Whoohoo!
I officially exist in the workd again now that I have valid photo ID!
Yay!
I saw the funniest thing on my way home from work; a woman was walking down the road in town with a really beautiful Golden next to her. The funny part? The Golden was trotting along right next to her, happy as a clam…carrying its own leash! I’ve never known a Golden that didn’t grab at the leash as if they want to walk themselves, but she actually let hers! A lot of people around here don’t leash their dogs but they don’t usually have a leash on the dog when they are out and about.
Chicken rub is not sacred, so I share it freely. I’ll take my butt rub recipe to the grave, however…
Where’s Duke?
BIG story coming tomorrow about a bambilance adventure tonight. I’s too tahred to type it now.
Armed robbery in Cottonfield County.
Holy crap!
I was strolling through Target tonight, completely mesmerized by laundry baskets when I heard my name. When I first looked up with a big, cheesy grin I said, “Hi!” And then I actually recognized her. Yes, it was the only person that I’ve ever had to fire.
So, uh, then I grabbed a basket and headed quickly to the checkout area. You could say that this saved me money because I didn’t do the usual Target stroll, but it isn’t true. I ended up getting a basket that is way too big to carry down the stairs and I’m going to have to get a different one tomorrow.
May have to try that. Only commercial run I ever had luck with was Kity My Rib Rub - I figure anything endorsed by Martin Luther can’t be all that bad. ![]()
We’re looking forward to firing up the grill once the weather cools down. I LOVE fall weather - too bad it’s so short.
Our old family recipe homegrown vodka has a danger for those not born into my family - it tastes like water. Somewhere between bottled and maybe one of the early style power waters. Problem is it runs about 160proof. It doesn’t have that back-bite of corn shine as a warning. I had some friends get really messed up not pacing themselves well as a result. So what I wanted was basically to add some sort of flavor that says “Beyond this point there be Dragons”. Some liquid smoke and flat Pepsi gives it more a look and feel of rye. Since I started doing that I haven’t had anyone get sick-drunk. Drunk enough for naked voodoo but not enough to get sick.

I’d love to try it.
I believe the phrase is " I found it in a gutter."
Yay! Woohoo!
Drama at the Board meeting, but the Bistro has a special, buy a mug for $5.00, and beer refills(bartender’s choice) are $1.00. ![]()
ems, in order: the phone interviews are all yours, but if you want to toss the data my way I’m good at that. And gratz on being an officially-existing person again!
Temperatures have, indeed, gone down. This morning was a beautiful 20C as I was coming in to work, yay.
