Grimm Season 2

I liked the girl saying “help me. help me”. Reminded me of the movie “The Fly”, which was appropriate.

Tonight’s episode had a nice twist on the Rumpelstiltskin story, though it seemed unlikely that the police wouldn’t notice that “Rumpelstiltskin” was an anagram of the set of letters they had.

I was hoping for more progress on the Juliette storyline–there was some, but not much.

Nice to see Sgt. Wu get more screen time.

Now that you say it, I completely see the Rumpelstiltskin connection.

And speaking of Sgt. Wu, something just occurred to me shortly after the episode was over.

They’re doing a good job of making him seem fairly insignificant and completely harmless. I wonder if they’re trying to make it a big shock when he’s revealed to be a deadly big-bad.

SOMEBODY has to be a normal guy. I think Wu is just Wu, and I would be disappointed if they did that. Seriously, who is a normal on that show? Hank, Juliette & Wu. Besides, I like Wu. I’d rather he was Nick’s partner. Hank is OK, but a little bland. Wu would be fun.

I didn’t think much of this episode. Another monster-of-the week. Well wait, that guy did try to bomb the captain & his insider, and from what was said there, it sounds like the Captain’s pretty much a good guy, in that he’s trying to maintain democracy and fight imperialism. Some new info there in the long-arc.

Rumpelstiltskin was a nonsensical Wesen. I’ll admit my Grimm’s fairytale knowledge is weak, but aside from the name-games, nothing about him reminded me of Rumpelstiltskin. With his tech know-how, I thought maybe he’d be a gremlin. it might make sense that someone good at fouling up tech (a gremlin) would also understand it well. Rumpelstiltskin, the name, is apparently loosely similar to Rumpelgeist- a poltergeist. Again, doesn’t seem very much like tonight’s guest-monster.

They’ve gotta stop playing around with Juliette and tell her about Wesen all over again, or the memory might come crashing back down on her and freak her out. I wonder if the writers aren’t heading that way on purpose. Seems pretty logical they should just come out with it - she’s already seeing the floor disappear and a ghost-Nick, how much weirder would the beavers be?

Lastly, it was nifty to see Nick, Hank and the captain talk openly about Weson and their possible involvement in cases. None of that covert, excuse-making crap. Now if we can get Juliette on-board they can concentrate on Weson problems, instead of keeping secrets from everyone close to them.

Am I the only one who thinks Juliette is getting really whiny? I don’t think she got out a SENTENCE without a whine in her voice.

I agree that someone should have spotted the Rumplestiltskin thing. If not a human, then the anagram software?

Looks like the bomb thing backfired. Instead of a dead royal in Portland, the bad guys now have a VERY angry and territorial royal fighting them, with some very useful allies. Instead of eliminating that problem, they’ve just added fuel to the fire, IMO.

Well, even if he isn’t revealed to be evil, I still keep expecting him to be revealed as a vessen of some sort.

I think it’s like a law that fantasy and sci-fi shows must have main characters keep secrets when they shouldn’t.

Hell, I saw it the moment I saw all the letters printed out on one page.

I have a decent vocabulary, but don’t do well with anagrams myself.

I actually caught on to the Rumplestiltskin thing pretty early – unusual for me, I don’t usually try to figure shit out as I’m watching. Must’ve been the “guess my name” thing, which is central to that story. That and turning straw to gold.

And the anagram software didn’t get it because it was only looking at names beginning with “T.”

Well, there was that episode when he was chowing down on his sofa/cushion, apparently without ill effects. I don’t think humans can eat large amounts of either cotton or polyester or foam stuffing without clogging up or something.

So maybe he’s a wessen goat.

We don’t know if the Rumpelstiltskin story exists in that form in this universe. In “La Llorona” they were able to reference the legend as a story that people knew, but most of the retellings haven’t really given the sense that things are happening the same way they’ve happened before. (Like in “Game Ogre,” nobody ever said, “Hey, this is like Jack and the Beanstalk!”)

I liked that they were able to reference the name without actually using it. Because, you know, Rumpelstiltskin is on that other show.

Yeah, I get that they don’t want to put too fine a point on these references, while still allowing the viewer to make the connections. It’s a fine line to tread. (sorry for the mixed metaphors) I think they handled it pretty well.

That could be possible.

For some reason, in that episode he reminded me of a mouse.

Also, quick question for anyone. Am I the only one who feels like the producers haven’t come up with a long story arc, and that they’re just kind of winging it as they go? I mean, things are coming together, but it doesn’t feel like it was planned this way from the beginning.

The somethingawful thread on Grimm is entitled “Monroes before hos” and for some reason that sends me into bouts of hysterical laughter every time I think about it.

He did come close to dying the next episode. It’s eminently possible that eating inorganic compunds didn’t help

I’m with you - everything about her character is annoying, whiny and just plain dumb. Aside from the fact that there’s no way that house has only one bedroom, just how long would an amnesiac continue to monopolize the bedroom and house of a man she doesn’t remember?! Erghh, it bugs me. Get an apartment, girl, move out/move on.

And why would you sit on the stair landing staring in fear at the floor which is gone?! There’s a window right BEHIND you! Break it and get out! But she just cowers like a little deer in the headlights, helpless, poor Juliette. Ugh.

I don’t think I’d want Miss Helpless Selfish treating my pet for anything. She’s spent a large part of this season acting POed at Nick for existing.

I like how Nick is handling it. He’s not happy, but he’s not pining for her and he’s letting her have her space.

I thought her falling for Renard was stupid and boring and I’m glad they ended that plot fairly quickly.

It would appear that Nick got over the weird super-hearing that he picked up in the previous episode fairly quickly. Not that I’m particularly surprised.

He didn’t get over it: it only works when he can’t see. That’s why he was practicing blind-folded. I’d bet it comes up again in another episode where he’s stuck in the dark without a light or some such thing.
