Guess I'll start the MMP

flipper, when I was working ungodly hours, I used a bundle service. As swampy said, it’s nice to drop off dirties and bring home clean.

wet one, that sounds like a good dinner.

Yay butters!

They fed us at irk today, for what it was worth. They tried a new caterer and it wasn’t very good. The ham was edible (I don’t know about the turkey because we were allowed only one and how badly can anyone screw up ham?), I ate one bite of the mac and cheese and wondered where the cheese was, a few bites of dressing and wondered where the sage was, all of the canned green beans that they put on my plate (gotta get the veggies in) and a few bites of “apple” crisp that I found no apples in (tasted like apple jelly topped with graham cracker crumbs and baked). There were no sugar free options for drinks, so I just got a cup of ice and went to the break room for water. By the time we got back to our desks, most of us were looking in the drawers for something to nosh on. :stuck_out_tongue: I have a feeling that this will be the last time they use this caterer.

mothernature decided to end our almost drought in 2 days it seems …before it was stop and start about 1 last night it started and hasn’t stopped yet it just lightens up then gets harder… ima gonna pull out the ark blueprints…

And I’m back on my recliner. More tomorrow - too tahred to do more today.

Arguing with the kid. He is doing an assignment on Carlos Santana and he didn’t mention Abraxas. I said how can you talk about Santana with bringing up Abraxas? The sources he is using don’t mention it, so I told him to find some new sources.
Contacted several contractors, none have contacted me back.

BTW - have any of you gotten a message when trying to connect to the SDMB that the privacy has been compromised?
I got it several times earlier.

Thanks all. It is a huge deal for me. Kids take my advice Don’t ever start.

Actually, it’s a little over a shot, but iffn I had the next size up, I wasn’t gettin’ up & goin’ out at dark:40.

Tonight’s celebratory drink is that I made it thru the day at irk & didn’t kill anyone. Idjits!

Sari, no message for me.

Butters, I never did and am glad of it. You’re stronger than dirty old nicotine.

Moooomm, nothing feels better than an old familiar seat. Good sleeping tonight.

Shady, all day rain is due here starting tomorrow evening and all day Saturday. As for an ark, maybe not, but don’t end up like this guy…https://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/comments/1b6fbh/the_stubborn_priest/

Red, quality won’t matter; if they were cheap enough the bosses will re-hire them…

Sunny, good luck with the argument.

Juliet, cookies are always a good thing…

Went to the monthly soccer board meeting, nothing much going on so we finished in 50 minutes and I dined out at a local eatery. Chillage now ensues.

Now that the hamster has been un-hacked, I can post.
Worked, napped, cleaned the bathroom. Made chili for dinner. I had steeped some peahc nectar with some peppercorns. And some 100 proof bourbon, and a couple of dashes of bitters, and it’s not half bad.

“Bother, Pooh muttered, as he chambered another round in his Martini-Henry. The Fuzzy Wuzzies are interrupting tea time.”

Flipper, a good laundromat is worth the trip.

Congrats, Butters! I quit in 1997. Keep it up!

yes there was a web certificate problem and was giving us fits but its fixed now

I read that thread for a while its funny as heck but all the jokes I know are the ones that im going to hades for ………

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out and clear (OK, dark) with a predicted high of 59 and N.O.S. for the day. As MetalMouse said, rain is due in tomorrow through Sunday accordin’ to TWPTB. No real big plans for the day which is fine by me. We shall attend the weddin’ over to the church house at seven this evenin’. Apparently it shall be a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig event. This means, of course, I shall have to get all gussied up. Such bother! Sup shall be steak, baked sweet N.O.T., spareguts, rolls and sallit. Got a couple of nice ribeyes marinatin’ as I post.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

It’s awful early here in North Alabama, but I reckon I’m awake, sort of deciding what I want to cook for breakfast. There’s some country ham in the fridge, and some frozen buttermilk biscuits, and that would be good, except I don’t have some day-old coffee to make red eye gravy, doggone it.

The Weather Underground says “Rain will continue”, and I expect so. At least I expect it will be above freezing for a few days hereabouts. Still, have to go out and sign up for some silly Medicare Part D thing sometime today, and that won’t be too bad, especially if I never need to use it. (It’s kind of like firearms–you never want to use them, but you never want to need them and not have them–and that’s a botheration–but you can’t have the fun owning insurance that you can owning firearms.)

Also today I’m hoping to get last month’s status report for my task order out to program management, and that’ll give me another hour or so to charge to the contract. I personally have no status to report, but three other guys have to give me theirs so that I can consolidate them and get the mashup to the managers. Maybe in December I’ll have an active role to play and can add whatever I do (aside from consolidating the report) to the whole game. Rah-rah-ree-hit-em-in-the-knee, I guess. Or maybe that’s for the one guy who can’t seem to write a sentence without ending it with a preposition; he’s a master of disguising exactly what he’s talking about. If he understood double recursion he might do things differently. Meh. What do you expect of a guy who’s made a career of “managing Windows systems”?

Onward into Friday. Let’s fry some ham and bake a couple of biscuits. Bye.

Good morning, I guess. I’m sure it’s going to be a nice day, but I didn’t fall asleep till after midnight, despite being exhausted. Still, I’m up, Higgs has been tended to, the cat box is clean, and I’m breakfasting on PB&J - suddenly I miss the crepes with blueberry compote on the Lido Deck! :frowning:

I’m going to do a separate thread about my cruise once I get my photos downloaded and on an accessible site. I know you can’t wait!

ROXY IS CRAWLING!!! She was just starting to make an effort on Thanksgiving, and now she’s going full-speed-ahead and getting into things. And apparently, she loves cords - electric cords - so we’ve got a couple of baby-proofing challenges. Suddenly, life with a baby is getting LOTS more interesting.

Taz is glad to have me home - so much so that the dark clothes I was wearing yesterday were nearly gray with Taz hair! Ziva came out for skritches, too, so all is right with the world at FairyChatEstates. Um, except for the mountain of dirty laundry awaiting me downstairs and the final leaf-fall in the yard, and it’s FREEKIN’ COLD! 28° this morning. This time last week, we were seeking an air conditioned corner of the ship to escape the heat and humidity.

I’m taking advantage of the quiet to start getting caught up. There’s a huge pile of snail mail - mostly junk, I’m sure - and I’ve already deleted hundreds of crap emails. Who knows when I’ll have time to read 3 weeks worth of Dear Abby…

It’s good to be home. Or it will be when the house stops rocking…

Happy Firday!!

Happy Firday!

It’s a chilly 30feelslike19 degrees outside.
It’s supposed to be N.O.S. as well but sure doesn’t look it. Maybe still too early to tell.
The high today is supposed to be 37.

Debating whether or not to try to suck up some more leaves.
No rain is predicted up here for a while, so it may be better to let the leaves dry out a little more.
Then there is still the back yard to do.
How can such a small yard have so many leaves?

I almost overslept this morning. I shouldn’t be this tired.

My last package should be here today, so today will be gift wrapping day.
I still haven’t bought my son anything because he doesn’t need or want anything. He just bought a new game on Steam which could count I suppose, but a $12 game doesn’t seem like much of a gift to me.

Glad to see you back FCM!

I wish I could have a bite of your ham George.

There is the sun now, that makes me happy!

I’ll try contacting some more contractors today. You’d think somebody would call/email/text back. I’m going to call the plumbing/furnace people and see if they can recommend anybody.

Outside of that it is going to be just another stressful but boring day.

Sari–got you about Abraxas–the album released six days after I got to Navy boot camp in September, 1970, so I didn’t get to hear any of it for a while, but it was a wowser! (Not to mention, just looking at the personnel who have worked with Carlos Santana is an adventure in itself. Good night! How many Latin rocker type musicians does it take to assemble an entire symphony orchestra, between Woodstock in '69 and now? Dang, that’s a long run of years.)

If you’d been here I would’ve shared the ham, as it was quite tasty. My market guy gets it from an Amish farm in South Central Tennessee, and he’s out of country sausage until Wednesday, so it’s ham until then, I guess.

Blurfage! Irking. Did payroll and have A/P to do. Also, the event was last night so there is a ton of tear down and clean up. I suppose I shall go over there this afternoon for a few hours. Talk about bother.

I left my sweater on the back of the chair at Five Guys yesterday so I shall go and see if it’s there. No one would want my ratty green sweater but me.

We have a houseguest, dang it. I am so ready for weekend.

Sari, it may be a busy season for contractors…or maybe they just take the holidays off.

FCM, I’ve had that experience too after trips; exhausted but can’t sleep in; give it a couple of days and I bet you have a nice long night of sleep. And Roxy will be getting into everything now; have fun…

George, Part D helps cover prescription costs; if you have other insurance that covers this you may not need it, but if you have no prescription coverage it’s not a bad deal.

Shady, maybe you’re going to hell, but you’ll be so busy greeting all your friends that you’ll never notice…

Rain showed up as scheduled and while not stormin’ or lightnin’, it looks like the rain will be around for awhile. I think BLT’s sould like a good Firday morning starter, so it shall be done. Another 5-6 hours of indoor soccer tomorrow.

Butters, is that house guest a welcome house guest, or a pest of some sort?

Midget, you still doing ok? Haven’t heard from you in a couple days, and I know you’re going through some stuff. Just checking in.

It’s Friday! Another week almost over. Tonight is my company Christmas party. It’s my first one with the company, and I’ve heard they hand out all kinds of prizes. They give out everything from gift cards to local businesses, to fire extinguishers and other safety products, all the way up to Packers tickets. I wouldn’t pay to sit in the cold and watch them lose, but I’ll gladly go for free! (Plus the company seats are really good. We’re talking right around the 50 yard like, about 10-15 rows up.)

Romeo is working this weekend, so I have the kids all on my own all weekend. Juliet Jr. actually agreed to clean her room tomorrow. Granted, she’s only going to clean it if we get to make cookies on Sunday, but it’s something. Trying to keep it low-key. I’m stressing about all of the stuff I need to do before Christmas, so I want to get a couple things checked off, but I just can’t handle a lot right now.

Didja hear about the butcher who backed into his meat grinder?

he got a little behind in his work, too.

Thank you  I’m doing really good, actually. It’s a time of year when I’m pretty busy working on music and crafts and baking. I have a concert tomorrow.
