Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! [Paris Hilton]

Well, hopefully you and the other women in her life can be real role models so she can be broken of that thinking at an early age.

Uma Therman has size 11s, too. Since that’s my size, it always sticks in my mind whenever one of these female sex idols wears my shoe size.

NOT that I want to wear their high heels, mind you!

It’s better to be fat, brunette, and poor? :stuck_out_tongue:
(disclaimer: I’m not actually defending Paris or saying that it’s a good idea to “look up to her”)

While she is in jail, will the authorities prohibit her from making more porn videos?

All in all, keeping society safe from both another drunk driver and another bad porn amateur is a good thing.

I know the US legal system differs from my own country’s in some ways, but not, as far as I know, in this one: WTF is the deal with Hilton going to jail at a later date? Whatever happened to “take the prisoner from the court!”?

$50 says she’ll take a half-arsed pill “overdose” two days before.

And now her cell-mate may do it for free.

My ex was given a week to report to jail because my granny was coming into town to see Kid Kalhoun for the first time and I didn’t want to have to explain the ex’s absence. The judge threw him a bone.

Men’s sizes and women’s sizes aren’t the same – a woman’s 10 is roughly equivalent to a man’s 8.

You know, it might do her some good. Maybe we could be spared for the future headline of her fatal OD.

Will she actually serve the time, or will she:

Win an appeal?

Flee to, I dunno, Monaco or London or whatever…?

Does such a conviction preclude passport renewal?

Wow, not a lot of Paris love in this thread!

I’m also in the “45 days is harsh!” camp. 45 days for driving with a suspended license? A week, maybe two, I could see… but a month and a half seems overkill for the offense. Does anyone know if that’s a typical sentence for this sort of crime?

On the other hand: harsh or not, I think it’ll do her a bit of good to be locked up for a while. She seems like she needs a good slap in the face to wake her up.

Astroboy14 beat me to it, but seriously whats with the hate for Paris Hilton? Actually no dont answer that question, Ive heard it all before.

Personally it doesnt bother me whether she goes to jail or not. As for the actual sentence, I think maybe its a little harsh and that shes being made an example of.

This thread is all kinds of messed up though, I mean do Paris Hiltons exploits bother some of you that much that you would actually applaud her being thrown in jail?

I Googled a 1st offense DWI in Ca. and it seems her original senrence was fairly typical. Of course it’s relative. The fine and restriction meant little or nothing to her, but to an average citizen they would have been fairly devastating. She could have avoided the license suspension by complying w/ her court ordered requirement to attend counseling. She obviously has an enormous sense of entitlement and denial.
Hilton grew up in that rarified atmosphere of wealth and entitlement, she should have some undrstanding of how to deal w/ it. Spears can be given some slack for her rapid rise in wealth and public adoration. It’s a kind of Elvis syndrome. A sad consequence of sudden fame and fortune

Delly, her exploits become bothersome when impressionable tweens think she’s cool and want to be like her. Here’s hoping that they don’t start seeing jail as cool because she did it.

I can’t see her being allowed any cosmetic privileges that other inmates don’t get. She’ll probably have to use generic shampoo and no conditioner, for a start. No manicures, no touch-ups for her roots, perhaps the use of lip gloss if she’s lucky, but no full makeup jobs. She’ll come out of that jailhouse looking like the inside of a vacuum bag. That’s the one time the paps should surround her. If girls like LavenderBlue’s daughter see her humbled like that, perhaps it’ll be a wakeup call.

“Hate” might be too strong a word. I watched a few episodes of A Simple Life and was disgusted with her behavior, and that people put up with it because of who she is. I can put that down to immaturity, I suppose. Teenagers aren’t always considerate of others.

But mostly I’m disappointed that someone who is born with all the “advantages” (if wealth and privilege can be considered advantages) is so wasteful of them.

I recall reading where one of the scandinavian countries fine DWI’s based on a percentage of income, maybe we should adopt that here. Would that level the field a bit?

It would level the field AND pay off the National Debt. A win-win!

All monetary penalties should take the convict’s income into consideration. But that’s a thread for GD.

I don’t know about it being “typical” but Nancy Grace said the max was 90 days, but they only pushed for 45. If they really wanted to make an example of her I’d think they’d go for the max.

Finland, at least.
