If it’s the last one, they may need to order an Ark of The Covenant from Amazon to fix it.

Many many years ago the computer in my car went bad. I had it replaced by the shop that AAA had a contract with.
Then a few days later someone broke into the car and stole the computer. Replaced it again. It happened again.
I’m pretty sure someone from the auto shop was hunting down the car and doing this. Couldn’t prove it.
Did the only thing I could, sold the car and bought another one.

I’m still supposed to be off work recovering from surgery but I’m going out to lunch. Kind of a work lunch, I guess.
My place of work is freaking insane. I’m not an employee I Have my own company and I have an exclusive deal with this other company, the FUBAR one. A few months ago everything went off the rails there so I stopped going into the office. I’m still taking care of my clients and doing my work in the field and I will continue to do so as long as they pay up.

But I have my spy that’s in the office everyday and I’m meeting her for lunch.

Good luck with the car

I started going gray before I was twenty. So I’ve been coloring my hair my entire life and have no desire to go natural. “Natural” is white, so it’s a good canvas for whatever artificial color I’m trying out.

Go buy a bit of better butter.

Not sure slugs qualify as animals. IMO, they’re plant-destroying self-propelled slime dispensers.

spidey That made me dizzier than I already am.

New clerk went to the exchange and got me some Dayquil. I came straight to my office with a scarf over my face so as not to spread germs. Today was payroll day so I had to be here. I think my good clerk will work tomorrow and I’ll take next Sat. Hopefully the week after next the new girl will be confident enough to be alone or I will be confidant enough to leave her alone. At least we got that extra hour closing early. That will put me home at 6 instead of 7.

I went to Amazon to buy some eclipse glasses and they are $50 or near bouts. I called around locally and no one has any. The long range forecast shows a 66% chance of thunderstorms that day so it may not be visible anyway. Or, I may go blind.

I got a #11 welding helmet for $35 at Home Depot. The lens comes out. I believe you are supposed to have #12 or #13. I have some #5 brazing goggles to use with it.

Amazon is not shipping and reimbursing folks for ordered glasses, probably from fear of being sued.

Answer is: $700

What is: How much does a rebuilt Hyundai Sonata alternator cost?

Actually, the alternator is around $500, but there’s labor, so I suppose it could go over $700. Dammit. Good thing I’m working. That kind of bill on a fixed income would bite the big green weenie. Oh, and I don’t get it back till Moanday since they also need a fuse that they can’t get till then.

Higgs is at the groomers and shortly, I’ll go pick her up. I need to stop on the way and get gas. **FCD **is napping - he’s really hurting. Weather aside, I don’t think we’ll be making the ball game. Dammit.

So I haven’t accomplished much of anything today. Alas…

Sorry you’ve got the sickies Butters. Get better, K?
BTW, $12.78/hr is ridiculously low, even for starting pay. Our local school bus drivers start at $16.00/hr, and they’re having trouble finding drivers. (I think that includes hazard pay.)

Hedonist, I just had my cataracts out, too. Well, I had the right eye done 6 weeks ago and the left 10 days ago. Before that I wore contacts. It still amazes me when I wake up and I can see! Getting pretty tired of the drops in the eyes though. Those little bottles seem to refill themselves overnight.

Wifey has already lost her eclipse glasses. My eye doctor was selling them last time I was in there. I think I’ll drop by and see if they have any left. Otherwise she says “I just won’t look!” sigh No. She’ll take my glasses.

Oh, I had white hair by the time I was 30. I think it had something to do with my first wife and her children.

I had a snarky comment here about gold-plated alternators but I deleted it, 'cause I’m trying to be nice, dammit!

Not gold-plated - rebuilt. New ones go for somewhere around $1k.

Just got back from retrieving Higgs from the groomer. We’ve been following this groomer all over town. She was at PetCo, then at a small private shop, then a different pet store, and now at another private shop. She knows Higgs and obviously we think it’s worth staying in touch with her.

Earlier, we ran some errands. We needed the special size light bulbs that go in the fixtures over the sink and the breakfast bar, and I wanted to get a new stylus for my tablet - the old one done wore out! And **FCD **wanted to get a big hunk o’whiteboard for his shop. He’s now snoozing and I still haven’t emptied the dishwasher… But I filled the truck, and that was an adventure.

Went to my lunch and got the latest on the office happenings, including the abrupt resignation of their star salesperson.

And actor Mark Ruffalo was at the next table with group, planning some sort of protest action for the weekend. I’m not a celebrity spotter but my friend is. Once she made the call it was hard for me to focus my attention on my own conversation instead of eavesdropping but I mostly managed.
.

It has been an interesting day.
Heard from OAOASO, which should have been a surprise, but wasn’t.
I haven’t heard back from the medical billing office yet. I made a payment on Moonday and it has yet to be applied to my account, or taken from my checking account.
Nevermind, I just got the notification on my phone that it has gone through.
Finally got my banking info to go through on the plumbing account and got that bill paid.
Sah-son still needs to fix his Moodle account. I tried and I can’t, so he is going to have to call tech support at the college.
We’ll go get his books on Toosday.
I’m still waiting for Weis to fix the non charge on my debit card. Somebody is supposed to call me about it but they haven’t yet.
I hate having things hanging around undone.

I watched Project Runway last night. Missed most of the ending though because I was irking.
I don’t know if it is that I am getting older but it seems to me that a lot of the designers seem to like making themselves ugly. Maybe ugly is the new pretty?
I don’t get nose rings that look like you either having boogers hanging out of your nose or sweat dripping off your nose. They remind me of the rings that were put through the hogs’ noses back on my uncle’s farm.

I just started getting grey hair in the last year. Kind of shocks me everytime I see it.
More disturbing to me is the difference in the sun damage between the left and rights sides of my face. I should have started wearing sun block a lot sooner and should wear it more often. I have problems with most of them though, and a good number of foundations as well. I made sure to wear BB cream to the party two weeks ago because I knew I would be outside and it made my eyes water the entire time.
I have some Bare Minerals that haven’t been open so I may switch back to that.

I took some mac and cheese out of the fridge, party leftovers, and that will be my dinner. The kid is on his own, since he doesn’t like it. He has a stack of frozen pizza in the freezer so he won’t starve.

A friend has threatened to stop by this weekend. I’ve heard that before so we shall see. A group is supposed to come up the second week of September, I’ve heard that before too. I’ll get some wine just in case. Better get some diet coke too. And figure out some munchies. I’m not going to cook, we’ll go to the Mexican restaurant.

I hope you feel better soon Butters.

Mackie had a groomer that was wonderful with him. One of the few who were not afraid of him. Unfortunately for us, she went on to become a vet tech. After that every time I took him to the groomer I had to go and hold him while they did the work. He was not aggressive at all, but all the snorting and rummbling sounded like growling to the other groomers.
I can’t believe I am getting a shar pei - they can be so much trouble.

Ouch Moooommmm that sucks mightily. I had no idea it was that much.

I have called around and there are no eclipse glasses available anywhere not even at the eye dr. Even though it is not totality the schools have canceled all outdoor activity for that day.

Yep, $12.78 is low but the lady was only making $10.50 so she is happy.

I may even buzz out early as I rather feel like crap.

TGIF

We top out at 61% for the eclipse–if it is not cloudy I’ll rig up a pin hole camera from a shoe box. Old school rules!

Howdy Y’all! Miss me today? It’s been an adventure. JDD’s father got sent to the ER from the nursin’ home last night due to his respiration. Poor JDD and Partner were there with him all night. A plan had been made to discharge him back to the nursin’ home but then Mr. Frank began havin’ trouble swallowin’ so he got admitted to the horsepistol instead. I went up this mornin’ after I found out and ran JDD and Partner off. OK, they were exhausted so it didn’t take much. I sat with Mr. Frank in the ER until he finally got in a room then I left to get sump’n to eat. JDD went back up mid afternoon with the promise he would not stay long. I went up around fiveish and stayed until about seven this evenin’. Mr. Frank is mostly asleep but did wake up a couple of times and did say my name. Dependin’ on his presence of mind at the moment he will tell you he is either at the horsepistol or :eek:Wally*World.  JDD’s sis will be there in the mornin’. I told JDD I’d come check on Mr. Frank earlyish tomorrow mornin’ so he and Partner can sleep in some. Who knows how long Mr. Frank will be there. I really fear the end is not too far away. :frowning:

MOOOOOOM YIKES! That’s a lotta moolah!

Butters hope you’re feelin’ better.

Nuts congrats on the new furnishin’.

I think we’ll have a 93% visibility for the eclipse. I have glasses. Whether or not I bother remains to be seen.

spidey, I never realized that I had slugs until I started taking a dog out at night. :stuck_out_tongue: Nelson was curious about them. He tried exactly one lick.

Feel better soonest butters!

I began going grey in my early twenties. I didn’t notice it at first because I was busy being a punk and dying my hair all kinds of wild colors. Whe I tried going back to being a redhead, I found that I was more like an apricot colored poodle. It’s at the point now that I’ve gone blonde as camo.

While today was run from the word go, I was able to duck out 45 minutes early. That was long enough to pick up the groceries before coming home to get Nelson out of [del]puppy jail[/del] his crate. Sonic fixed supper and the pup came along for the ride.

Well, the ballgame was rained out. We got to the park in a downpour, but it stopped shortly thereafter. We watched the ground crew uncover and roll up the infield tarp and lift the smaller tarp off home plate. Then all of a sudden, they were pulling the tarp out again, and the announcer said the game was postponed. We’re going on Sunday afternoon instead.

We’ve got 2 extra tickets - anybody wanna go?

We drove home thru a major toad soaker - our garage had a lot of water in it when we got here. It’s finally calming down - should be out of the area in another hour or so. Meanwhile, I’m starving. Gotta forage.

I had a fatality across my garage/driveway (all three feet of it) once and had to take the Sportie out through the yard and front gate. Darn police wouldn’t move the body for me. How unreasonable of them!

Work was interesting. I left early because I’m scheduled for an AM ----- ZL (broken so I’m harder to track down) and I’m pushing the hour limit for this week. I let the manager know and he was cool with it. Right after I left a couple young ladies on that lane had some kind of melt-down, they got fired, and refused to be fired. Police were called to remove them. Since none of it was blocking my garage I didn’t really care but I did hang around to spectate. That is how dull my life has been lately.

Thought about it briefly, but it’s a twilight double header, which means home late. Haven’t seen the house on a Sat night since mid-July.

This weekend’s trip is now middle of next week & next weekend’s trip looks to not be happening…unless I wanna pay for it.

Speed bump.
We had an ‘every-color-in-the-rainbow’ front blow thru earlier; looks like the same one that rained out Mooommm’s evening. Line was from at least VA to at least NY.

I was shorthanded and it was busy, but they didn’t nuke the store. I will be on conference call during the eclipse.:frowning:

$1k? I only paid $1500 for the whole Volvo.*

You’re not just a good man, swampy ,you’re the Anti-Flytrap. {{{{swampy JDD and family}}}}}

red, I got my first gray hair at 40. It was an ear hair.:dubious: The head ones are falling out before they can change.

*the lady I bought her from called her a Swedish tank, so I named her Éowyn
