In his knot-tying snakes column, the Perfect Master mentions the self-knotting champion, the hagfish. Something he doesn’t mention is that those eel skin wallets that were all the rage some years ago were in reality hagfish skin wallets.
One can understand why the marketing guys asked for the name change.
Just wanted to chime in to say this was one of Cecil’s best in a while (in my opinion) – an interesting question that can’t be so thoroughly answered just by a simple Google search, one to which Cecil gave an entertaining and informative treatment.
