Halfway thru the year in the MMP

You know he was born in the US right?

Snacking on some smoked salmon, honey straight from the jar, and slices of a lime. Yeah, I’m a weirdo.

They’re nasty and mushy and taste like hot dirt. Anyone who says otherwise is lying!!! :face_vomiting:

I was starting to wonder also, but I’m more optimistic.

We met some new boat neighbors this weekend - well, we met Matt, and he told us his wife is Laura, but she wasn’t there. They live in Falls Church and I think he’s a biologist. Nice guy. This is in addition to Ron and Karen who drive down from Pittsburgh, of all places!! Then there’s Mercedes Guy - don’t know his name, but he always washes his Mercedes SUV in the parking lot near his slip.

OK, I think that’s all for now.

Deadcow has been lightly seasoned and wrapped in bacon. Corn has been shucked, trimmed, buttered, and wrapped in foil. Just have to light up the barbie in an hour and a half or so.

Thanks FCM I appreciate the assistance! (Sorry for the dumb face.)

It’s hours until twilight and the f’crackers have already started.

Have fun at Cedar Point yank! There and King’s Island were summer staples when I was growing up in Indiana.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had seven layer salad wet one. I used to like it.

nellie, boiled peanuts, when done right, are the consistency of an al dente bean. My favorite are the Cajun or the sweet ones. One thing that I learned years ago though is, never, ever, ever give them to a little dog that you’re riding in a vehicle with. Your windows will be down for the duration. :stuck_out_tongue:

Made a lot of progress on the project, got the breakfasts / lunches prepped for the irk week and made a good pot of Italian wedding soup. I’ll take Nelson out for the last time ~eight before the firecrackers start.

Howdy Y’all! We ate. We drank. We made merry. It was a fun day all in all. Everyone has been gone for a little over an hour, all is cleanded up, and the biiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. There are varied leftovers, so no cookin’ will be needed for at least a couple of days. That is not a complaint, btw.

We had the Cajun style boiled peanuts today which are spicy, but not too spicy and go oh so well with beerverages.

Went out in the MGB again. (I went out earlier.) Just don’t feel like hanging around the house. Got five gallons of 92 Octane ($30), then went down to Beach Cat Brewery and bought a four-pack each of Shabby Tabby IPA (6.4 ABV) and Munchkin Red (5.4% ABV).

shoe Love the tat, it looks great! I wish that my tat had come out as nice. The artist didn’t really follow the drawing I gave him.

From Nextdoor (there was a picture of the cat):

Coyotes killed my sweet George this morning. He was only out for less than an hour this morning around 430am. I never thought they were up here off of Selder!!:rage:

Four-thirty in the morning, she let him out/he went out. After weeks of coyote alerts. After weeks of missing pet posts.

:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Stoopit gonna stupid.

It’s raining here at the moment - maybe that’ll cut down on the cannon fire tonight.

Evening all. Finishing my Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner, then will try to call Brudder (have been getting his message the last couple of times). Did get some paperwork done for the next February Antarctica trip, still need a Doctor’s signature on some paperwork but with 7 months to go, I think I have time to get it done. Dusk is about an hour away and it’s all quiet on the Fireworks Front, but I expect it to pick up soon.

swampy, glad you had a good day.

FCM, nice to meet the boat neighbors; but why bring a Mercedes to a boat dock for a wash? I would think the proximity to salt water/air would be something you’d want to avoid…

BBBoo, kids are great, aren’t they? And you’re pretty special too, making that platelet donation.

OK, need to power up the cell phone and see if I can get through to Brudder this time. All y’all take care.

Happy Birthday Hattie!

\color{purple}{\text {Shoe}} your tat is gorgeous!

Cloudy here tonight with a chance of rain. I’m hoping the ceiling is low enough that some of the shows will be cancelled.

Yoshi. Dinner was good.

Shoe, I love your tat!!

As long as we’re sharing… Mrs W has three tattoos, and she got them all within the last ten years.
The first is a 1” yin-yang on the inside of her wrist. The second is a small set of cat whiskers around one of her ankles (this is in honor of all our kitties, past and present). The third, which is my favorite, is a beautiful hummingbird on the back of her left shoulder.

Each time she got a tattoo, she tried to get me to get one too. My standard answer was “I’m not against getting a tattoo, but there’s nothing I want badly enough to have it on my body for the rest of my life.”

Then she came up with this idea, and I realized I didn’t want a tattoo, I wanted this tattoo. So I got my first (and probably only) ink at the ripe old age of 54.

You can’t rally tell from the photo, but this is my outer left calf. (S is my first initial.)

People had restraint, and didn’t start their fireworks till after dark this year. Had burgers, fries, and corn on the cob(on the cob!) for dinner, with an Old Fashioned.

Love the tat, shoe.

Sunset isn’t for more than 2 hours.

Not too explody yet. Rain possible about 45 minuts after sunset. We’ve seen a lot of people walking down our street to the beach.

The gym was sparsely populated because only us crazies work out on July 4th. I had a good workout. My son called, since he missed yesterday. He’s coming down in one week. I’m very excited. I’m planning to make chicken salad and buy some decent Italian bread. I will also make lemon cupcakes in honor of his birthday (this Wednesday). That and mixed berries will be dessert.

Thanks for the replies re: boiled peanuts. I think I’ll pass. Peanuts are the only legume I like, and I don’t want to ruin our tenuous relationship. Glad you like them, though, swampy and red.

Boo, good for you for donating blood. I’ve always wanted to, but they don’t want mine. And yay for Harriet’s wonderful recognition of her BFF, Gramma Boo. (How did she get to be FIVE already?)

We got one helluva thunderstorm coming through just now. So instead of artificial booms, I get Mother Nature’s thunder-boomers.

… which means everyone is going to set off their stash the rest of the week, dammit.

In my experience, that’s the best way.

I knew a guy with a buncha ink a while ago and when I was asking about some of them, he said, “Oh, I just went to my favorite artist and said ‘Surprise me.’”

I was like, “We are very different people, dude.”
