Happy (Lesser)Holidays - A Festive MMP

This time of year hereabouts, it would be Pollen Yellow. In the winter, it’s Road Salt White-ish.

Got the laundry done and stowed. Watched several episodes of Death in Paradise. Had lunch. Flang some grass and clover seed on bare spots in the yard. If weather radar is to be believed, it’ll be watered by Mother Nature in a couple of hours. If not, I’ll drag out the sprinklers tomorrow.

FCD just got back from the presentation at our daughter’s school. He’s taking the car to get a good inside and outside cleaning, since SIL is a bit of a slob. I may watch another episode, just because. Tho I should be thinking about what we’ll have for supper…

These are really cool.

Add me to the list that thought it was a bit low. Congrats on the quick sale!

Sorry {{{{Bumba}}}} Vinnie looked like a real sweetie.

Now if there’s going to be biscuits, I want jelly. I know it’s possible to make jelly from wine, so that’s a whole 'nother way to serve the sacraments.

In other words, got room for me in that there handbasket?

Poor pup. Hope he’s recovered well.

BBBoo, sorry about the delayed proposal. Hope the second choice goes well.

Probably not the same as my dad, but he’s having surgery tomorrow because he has pieces of cartilage floating in his knee, which sometimes get in a wrong place and cause him a lot of pain. He had to get a MRI for the diagnosis, and the surgery is does as out-patient surgery. Hope it doesn’t impair your cruise enjoyment.

I probably missed a few things I wanted to respond to, but I’ve been on my phone (ipad logged me out, for some reason), and I don’t like typing on my phone.

Last week my husband’s band played at the drummer’s wedding. So that was 7 hours of set up, followed by 11 hours of wedding activities (including driving) on the second day, and 4 hours of breaking down the band set up on the 3rd day. Took us the rest of the 3rd day and the 4th day to recovery. Way tired.

This week is slightly less exciting - work, work and more work. It seems that we have been abandoned by the rain gods again, but it looks like they might make it up to us tomorrow. Definitely a good day to work from home.

Maybe this Saturday we’ll finally buy some flower plants for the window planters and get some tomatoes. Should have done it last week, but the wedding really distracted us.

Need to go get something other than charantais melon for dinner.

My PhD supervisor after I graduated said that he missed my crazy antics. He said that life had returned to a boring normal without me around. He said that I should come to the lab meetings every now and then to liven things up.

Title search is done and earnest money deposited. Tomorrow the home inspection happens. I’m pretty sure we’ll get a clean bill on that, but it depends on how picky the guy wants to be. We can always offer cash offset for any problems. Next week will be the appraisal and we’ll be scrambling to get packing done, canceling services, turning in cable equipment, etc.

Happy Hump Day!

Rainy morning. I got the pups off to daycare. My son took them in for me because my knee is hurting.
I don’t know if he will go with me to pick them up. I hope so, but he will be getting ready for irk.
The Krab Joint
is at the daycare today, so I’ll pick something up there when I get the dogs.
It’s going to be a hard decision.

My mother’s first chemo is today. She told me last night that if it’s too painful or she gets sick, she is going to stop.
We’ll see.

Jane the Cane, as you can see, I have a thing for big OLD houses. As WetOne pointed out, it is HUGE. Too much house for me, and stairs. Even if I could afford to buy it, I doubt I could maintain it as it should be maintained.

Hope everything got straightened out for you MetalMouse

Hope you eye feels better BooFae

Shady, glad your mess got straightened up. We are still dealing with unemployment

I should be getting stuff done, but I’m dragging ass today. I fell asleep in the bathtub.
I have managed to get one load of laundry washed. My son was talking to me about some gaming company and NFTs and I couldn’t even follow the conversation. All the Blizzard crap had my head spinning.

The car wash was broken, so FCD drove thru the cheapie wash, then vacuumed it himself and brought it home for me to do the windows. It’s amazing what a little cleanliness can do for a vehicle.

We’re meeting the kids and the grands for supper at Red Robin - that solves the question of what to do for supper.

Seven times down and up the hill today. 1.17 miles. Going to Burien tomorrow, so no exercise except for going down and up 16 steps a couple/few times.

But, but, but…it’s got TWO kitchens to clean and did you see all the dust attracting nooks and crannies on the beautiful woodwork?

Our housekeeper was here today and as she was leaving she told me that she had taken an extra long break on the back porch so she could enjoy the birds and butterflies. I consider this to be a huge compliment, she’s a busy lady who doesn’t usually waste her time on breaks when she could be finishing up and going to her next job.

Spring is so wonderful. It took years to get our backyard where I want it, and that place has a HUGE yard that would take so much work that maybe I don’t want that house either. But it sure is purty.

Garage guy didn’t come today, but he did send along a henchman, so the door is ostensibly fixed…for now. Of course, you know how fixing an area of your house works: you fix something, the guy fixing it notices something else you might want to look into, and it turns into a cascade of fixing things until you never, ever want to fix anything ever again. Anyway, turns out the previous owners had hardwired the door opener instead of plugging it in, creating a fire hazard. So, I’ve got a garage that works but it only works because I happened to have a long extension cord (the dude replaced the appropriate part in the opener but was concerned about the wire situation), so I’ll need to have a new outlet installed. Oh, well. It’s gotta happen, but it’s not as immediate as making sure the garage works and does not subsequently catch the joint on fire. We’re finding that the previous owners did a lot of DIY without proper permitting or inspection. Yay.

I was sent an extra phone for work today. I’m not sure whether to be happy - now I don’t have to have work people calling my personal phone - or peeved because I’m facilitating work reaching me some other way instead.

Got another covid notice, this one for the boy. Dang kids.

I love a good garden, too, unknown - the back patio is my favorite place. It’s so full of life and so, so green.

Bon Voyage metal mouse!

sunny, I’m having pretty good luck with the basic grey car interior. It didn’t even permanently stain when SIL’s elderly chihuahua had an accident on it.

{{{sariMom}}}

I played hooky again today. The allergies triggered asthma issues, so I made an appointment to go for a breathing treatment, an allergy shot and a refill on my inhaler. Once I came back, the maintenance guy de jour came in for his 25 point inspection. He also fixed the drawer that I had a work order on, replaced the battery backup in my smoke detector and put the light fixture covering in the kitchen back in place (the guy who replaced the unit didn’t do that right).

Other news in the neighborhood: my neighbor next door got a sister for his dog Sully. The sister is a white standard poodle (Sully is black going grey) named Sugar. She’s a rescue from a backyard breeder, so she’s still a bit shy with other dogs and humans. I hope that she figures out how to be a dog again.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sahurrnee, I wish your mother luck with tolerating the chemo. I imagine there are different types of treatment, my mom didn’t seem to get sick, but she did lose her appetite some.

If you like big old houses it’s too bad you can’t visit my city of Topeka. There’s one part of town that was developed early to have high value houses. Great big three story places with gingerbread trimming and all. I’ve toured through a few. These are places that had walkin closets and a little room on the third floor up a back staircase, for the servant.

Sari, I hope all goes well with your mom. Sending you both good thoughts. Let us know how she does. Hugs to you both.

sari and sari’s mom~ ‘May the force be with you!’ I’ll be thinking of you both. Went through cancer treatment 10 years ago and so far so good. Hopes hoping for the same for mom.

Plus {{{{ for all }}}}

Howdy Y’all! Groceries got gotten and that is the sum total of activity for me today. I am sore still from yestiddy’s exertions. I’m hopin’ tomorrow I’ll be back to me. Anywho, lots of sloth, plus nappage, plus the requisite day drinkin’ ensued and a sup of leftovers was consumed.

sari hope your mom was able to tolerate chemo today.

red feel better soonest.

BooFae hope the eye stuff fixes your eye up soonest.

BeepKillBeep I know you have a mumper nick but I don’t remember. I’m old and feeble. However, I think it should be Reboot. I, too, enjoy the occasional casual relationship with reality.

Just checking in for an update on sarimom. Fingers still crossed that things went as well as possible.

She sounds very tired, but she did well. No pain, no nausea, she got bored.

Bored is great, that’s something you can work with! Is she able to hold a small tablet? Solitare (or other mindless games) has helped folks while away the hours for a very long time. Does she like to listen to books? I can sit in front of my comp and download library books to my tablet or phone so I can listen while stitching, is something like that available? She probably can’t hold dead tree books, but almost all libraries have virtual tons of e-books available for free download.

I hope that boredom will be the only bad side effect she has to deal with!

Boston lost again. But they did hurt the goalie. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: I made tacos for dinner afterwards, with Penzey’s Rojo seasoning and sauteed pepper, onion and jalapeno. I know yesterday was Taco Tuesday, and tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. They’re Force Tacos. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay for a good treatment. And a second on the tablet idea.

Evening all from Seattle, Washington. The late flight from Ali-bama got me into Dallas with about 15 minutes to make my connection, but the in-terminal people movers (trams) were close by and only one stop was needed, so I rushed to the gate…to find the flight was 40 minutes late so I had plenty of time! Got into Seattle about 3:45PM local and took my first UBER ride, costly but worked out fine. Bought a jacket at “The North Face” so I’m ready for Alaska and ran into about 1/2 dozen of my friends, so it was a good day in the end. But tired as heck right now (it’s only 8:30pm locally but 10:30pm on my clock and I started at 5am) so bedtime won’t be far away.

Have read all but have little comprehension left, so all y’all can have hugs, smiles, tears and joy in whatever proportion you’d like.

Will try to get back on-line tomorrow morning before the great COVID test (needed for boarding). All y’all take care.

I’m glad you made it safely, despite the tight connection.
