Well that stinks. I’m glad the pain doesn’t last too long, though. I’ve considered getting my small ankle tattoo removed, but I’ll probably leave it. I’m lazy, pain-averse and the kids have to have something to identify the body.
I hope the discomfort keeps fading. The tattoo sounds like it was really cool, but I know what you mean about it not fitting you anymore.
And completely agree with you about the phone - our IT department had put in a new policy where they create a separate profile on your personal phone that they can remotely access if you don’t have a company device. That’s a hard no from me - I’m sure they monitor me as it is; no need to make it easier.
Sari, glad to hear Sarimom’s chemo was boring. Hope it continues to be boring.
Oopsie, nice to see you again. Last week I didn’t post at all, and I’ve never gotten around to posting daily (or twice daily) like some of the regulars.
Managed to mess up a poll, but found out that most people give gifts before, or at a wedding. We messed up and didn’t get ourselves organized before the wedding we attended, and so our gift will be late. And it would have been more sensible to do it ahead of time, as we could have given money that was already the right currency for the honeymoon.
But then there’s the twist. The happy couple got some of their gifts stolen. So ours was not one of the ones stolen, because we haven’t given it yet. I will rectify that soon, but they are on their honeymoon for another week, so I have some breathing space.
Had some reposado tequila to celebrate the day. Google tells me that it’s World Password Day. Not changing my password to celebrate. Especially after having the tequila.
I fast-forwarded through the first video that came up on a search.
I came in 2nd in the diaper-changing contest. (No prizes for 2nd Place.)
I managed to escape the ‘guess the circumference’ (size of the baby bump) game. Everyone was given a little clothespin. If you said the word ‘baby’, you lost your clothespin and whoever took it got… another guess? Something like that. So I said, ‘Wait. We can’t say “baby”?’ Boom. Lost my pin. I could go back to my lunch.
I hate baby showers. And wedding showers. I’ve never been to a bachelorette party, but I imagine I wouldn’t like that, either. Meh.
It doesn’t look any different yet…
The large tattoo’s colors are black and grey (the wolf itself) and a lot of bluegreen (the dated design elements); the smaller one is mostly bluegreen – and, the color is darker than the large tattoo. The black and grey elements will “move” first: for those I might see some fading over the next few weeks, or it might take another session to notice anything. The bluegreen, though, is much harder to remove, and is what will require so many sessions (in fact, not every place can remove bluegreen; it requires a certain kind of laser). I might not see any movement in those parts for a while, and it’s why for the smaller one I’m just going for fading and not removal of that color. For the large one, there’s actually a chance that the bluegreen won’t be able to be removed completely: I could be left with a “shadow” of what was there, or some very slight – but permanent – yellow-ish coloring. If anything does wind up being left, though, I should be able to easily cover it with body makeup if desired/needed…and eventually I’ll be able to tan that skin, which will help minimize the appearance of anything that’s left. I saw a bunch of before-and-after pictures of someone who had the bluegreen ink color and my skin pigmentation (which makes a difference), and I decided to go ahead. Of course the treatment place’s goal is complete removal, but I’m aware of and accept the risks.
They take pictures of both tattoos before each session: I’ll be getting copies.
Thank you – and thank you for saying so! I do feel like I’m making some progress: the weight loss is coming along nicely (51 pounds so far!) and I’m continuing to adjust to post-op life, I finally got the tattoo removal process going, and a week from today I take the exam for a professional certification (related to the class I took in March). I’m a little nervous about that!! There are two “biggies” still to go: joining a gym, and finding a therapist. I’ve identified the gym I think I want to join, it’s just a matter of reaching out to them/actually going there and learning more about their personal training options and costs. And I’m on the wait list for one therapist, but I still want to do more research and see if I can find someone who might be available sooner. Worst case, though, she thinks she’ll have an opening around the end of this month. Hopefully, by this time next month I’ll have those last two things done!
I let slip that this was my first baby shower, and one of my cow-orkers (the one who cooked the muy deliciouso food) pointed at me and said, ‘Hey! We have a virgin!’
I’m glad that boredom is your mom’s big issue so far sari. Does she like coloring? I sent Cousin Sis some, along with a decent set of colored pencils and a battery operated sharpener when she was doing chemo. Between the treatments and the rehab center after, she said that it really made a difference.
seanette, I, too, have a bathroom escort. It isn’t a biggie here at home, given thatI only close the door when there’s company, but when we travel, you would think that I dipped him in boiling oil abandoned him forever when the bathroom door is closed and I’m on the other side. He’s also my shower escort.
Glad you’ve made it to Seattle metal mouse. Enjoy your cruise.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson right before the cloudburst and et. I’m feeling somewhat better, although my nose could give Rudolph some competition and my eyes look (and feel) like I’ve been on a seven day drunk.
Thank goodness that it’s my Friday too. Nelson has a vet checkup tomorrow afternoon, and we’ll likely pick up some supper on the say home. I’ll need to plan a dish and prep the kid’s craft for heathenization this Sunday. I think I have the craft figured out, but need to search my files for a good dish to pass.
Howdy Y’all! I got the back yahd spiffed and then we had quality cee-mint pond time and margaritas for day drinkin’ time in honor of the day. Then me et majik intartoobz pizza and sallit. All in all a good day. Hope everyone is havin’ a good day or evenin’ or tomorrow or whatever it is wherever you are.
Maybe your Akiko and my Mauser are distantly related. I have to be careful to put any food far back on the counter. How a dog with such short legs has managed to get stuff to the floor is a mystery to me. Bread, cookies, biscuits, you name it. I wish I could set up a doggy cam to watch.
I got a package today that was FedExed from World Market. I was startled at the size of the box that was used, as what I was recieving was roughly the size of a medium sized paperback. I think four of the items could have fit in the box, it was filled with inflated plastic bags for cushioning. And it wasn’t even breakable!
baker, sometimes the short legged doggies are resourceful as can be. My SIL used to have a basset hound named Bailey. He was well known as a garbage hound to the point that trash almost had to be kept under lock and key.
One day, shortly before Easter, my niece made a couple of practice loaves of challah. They were perfectly executed and absolutely beautiful. She set them on the back of the kitchen counter, fully aware of Bailey’s eating habits and came to get her mom and me to show them off.
Too late! Bailey had somehow stretched himself to reach the bread and was in the process of chowing down on the second loaf when we came upstairs. Animal lover that she is, she was ready to begin whaling on him (she didn’t). You can bet that when she made challah the next time, she watched it like a hawk until it was in a container that Bailey couldn’t get into.
Howdy all. In the best Joe Piscopo imitation I can manage; Cinnamin Raisin Bagels and Root Beer! COVID testing? NEGATIVE! Monorail, Space Needle, Armory. Met old friend at Fish Market. Travel! Sights! Rain! Maple Walnut Ice Cream! Drank Chinese Beer. Mouse broken! Read all but no energy to respond! Boarding ship tomorrow!
What? No maple bacon ice cream?! Good to hear the covid test was negative and you get to play pirates tomorrow! Arrrrr!
Yes, it’s Friday and I’m slightly giddy about that despite the fact I’ve only worked two anna half days this week, it’s been more than enough. This afternoon is my friend’s mother’s funeral so I will be watching the livestream of that. It means a lot to him that a bunch of his music family are there to support him, even if we can’t be there in person. He knows we will be thinking of him, and that’s what matters.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 84 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon and evenin’. We shall see. I need to make a run to Wally*World and I need to go over to the church house to deal with candles. I suppose I should go and get those done this mornin’. Since I am up stoopid early, I reckon I might as well. We shall have N.O,L. at the Chinese hog trough buffet. Oh and since I am up, I set out some butter to soften with which to make chawklit chip cookies later, cause, why not.
MetalMouse Glad the plague test is negative. Have fun pillagin’ and plunderin cruisin’!
BooFae as weird as I find livestream funerals, I am glad you will be there for your friend.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Given that I am goin’ to Wally*World I will indeed be amongst the great unwashed.
Yay for being plague-free, MetalMouse! Hope you have a great cruise!!
Lots of rain promised today, but the plan is to mow before it arrives - that all depends on FCD and when he wants to drag out of bed. If we can’t get it today, we’ll have enough time after returning from class tomorrow to do the back yard at least. So we shall see.
The other plan is an overall tidying/vacuum/dust of the common areas ahead of the inlaws arrival. Tho, to be honest, they’re both so blind, all we really would have to do is make sure Higgs’ toys are out from underfoot. < snerk > I know, that’s mean. But spousal unit really cares, so we’ll tidy/declutter.
Sat and Sun we’ve got a Marine Diesel class in Annapolis. We’ll have to leave here around 7 and pack a lunch. I looked at the restaurants around the school site - just a tad $$$$$$. Which tells me that even if we have a nice shiny credit card, they wouldn’t appreciate us showing up in jeans and T-shirts. And since we’re having to spring for 2 nights in hotels and several meals on the road, we’ll brown-bag it. No biggie.
Class ends at 4 on Sunday, and we’ll head straight for I-70, with plans to stop somewhere near Wheeling for the night - that’s roughly halfway. And that should get us to Indy around lunch time on Moanday. Then as early as we can roust his folks on Tuesday, we’ll start back - it’s about 10 anna half hours from there to here.
We’ve tried to figure out what we can do to entertain them that won’t be too difficult for FIL. Plus I have Toby on Weds and maybe after, depending on how SIL deals with work. It will be interesting…
But for now, there’s mowage and tidying. Envy my exciting life!!
This is it. My last day at work, my last day of my professional career (medical librarian). A huge chapter of my life is at its end. I’m sad to leave the people. But I’m tired of working. I plan to slink out today. I hate goodbyes. My people gave me a lovely farewell luncheon on Wednesday and yesterday my boss created a Seinfeld Jeopardy! game which we played over TEAMS, They graciously let me win (although I knew most of the answers). I got dozens of notes and cards and flowers and a gift certificate for a massage.
