Happy Secretary's Day!

Well, I’m confessing that I totally suck. Each morning for the past week I’ve mentioned to my boss that secretary’s day is coming and we need to plan something for our amazing/fabulous/etc secretary.

Several short mentions, but no definate plans. My boss comes into my office today and whispers ‘What are we going to do? Today is secretary’s day…’

Crap. We decided that Friday we’ll take her to lunch and I’ll also be getting her a gift certificate, but I should have done it last night. I suck. :frowning:

Actually, the association that helped to originate the observance back in 1952 changed its name to “Administrative Professionals Week” and “Administrative Professionals Day” in the year 2000 to keep pace with the changing job titles and expanding responsibilities of today’s administrative workforce.

We’ve all gotten flowers today at the office. Seven bouquets between the three of us (one of the bosses felt guilty for reaming us out for eating last week). It smells like a funeral home in here and I can’t breathe…the allergies are screaming. But they’re pretty:).

Happy Admin. Assistant’s Day to my fellow grunt workers!

Ooops, I totally forgot about this and didn’t bring my secretary a damn thing. From now on, she probably won’t do much for me and do whatever she does do really slowly. So, nothing will really change.

Hey, I’m an Awana secretary! For me, the appreciation from the kids, parents, and the congregation is enough. People even say I do a good job! (me, do a good job? who woulda thunk it?)

For me, I will just LOVE to be in Awana again… we’ve had a break for five whole weeks… it’ll be GOPOD seeing the kids once mores!

Luckily, my secretarial work doesn’t really involve proof-reading… though I am kinda anti-typo anyway!

Still, I should have caught that glaring error in the word “GOOD” before I submitted my reply. (I caught the one where I spelt “secretary” with a double T… so why not the other one? Who knows…)

I am a very lucky secretary indeed. I work for four of the nicest attorneys you could ask for. They gave me a lovely bouquet and took me out to an Indian buffet. In addition to this, our firm gives us a catered breakfast, a lunch gift certificate, and a department store gift certificate.

And if I got zip for SD, I’d still be happy, because I like all my attorneys and I’m working during a sucky economy. That’s better than gifts.

Sure enough, the same boss who got me flowers my first day on the job also got me flowers today. Of course, the surprise was somewhat ruined when the florist called to ask for directions, but I had a pretty good idea what was coming. I’ve also been working harder than usual this week but that’s part of the job.

A very tired
