Happy Thanksgiving MMP

With a bad foot, no less!!

I did absolutely nothing yesterday, and it was lovely. I got up fairly early, watched tv, played on the intertubes, and took a nice drive for an hour or so in the early afternoon. My friend’s sister-in-law heard that I was home alone and happy about it, but they had 6 people bail on Thanksgiving dinner, so Friend was recruited to bring me too much food in the early evening. So I had Thanksgiving after all, I just had it alone, and that suited me fine. Sister-In-Law has informed Friend that if she ever hears about me spending Thanksgiving alone again, she will drive to my house and force me into the car. Which I’d be okay with, because her mashed potatoes have bacon in them.

Today I am at work for a few hours. Boss refuses to close, but doesn’t insist on a full staff. I got T-Day Friday off last year, so I volunteered to come in this morning as a nice thing, since everybody was so understanding that I got horribly sick right after my vacation AND I secretly know I plan on finding another job after the holidays. I thought Boss Himself would be here … his truck is outside, but the door was locked and the alarm was on when I got here.

Tonight I have a birthday party for a friend that I don’t really feel like going to, but I can show my face for a few hours and then skedaddle home to “take care of the dogs” (who are just fine without me). Roomies will be home sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Hope the 'Muricans had a lovely holiday, and everyone else is having a nice regular Friday.

The cafe I bake at is open Mon-Sat. Today is the one weekday of the year that the library we are located in is open but we are closed. Years ago we learned that it simply isn’t worth it to be open on Black Friday. So yay, I get four days off in a row, and today is only day 2!!!

Greetings Mumpers. I hope everyone here has recovered from yesterday and is having the good sense to avoid anything even slightly resembling a retail store today.

I had a rather pleasant turkey day, only 7 of us gathered at Granny’s this year. Small gathering notwithstanding an enjoyable time was had by all.

Happy turkey sandwich day!

You caught on to that right away, huh? What everyone says about your intelligence must be --------- OH LOOK! Butterflies!

Only from my basement and to special friends. In other words you are SOL! :stuck_out_tongue:

Since Prime has free shipping -------------------- you know, as light as some of the boxes we handle are, I wouldn’t be surprised. :smack:

That’s fine ----- you are well outside our area.
Doing some puttering before work. Since the OW returns Sunday it’s time to get rid of the dead hookers I MEAN DUST OFF THE SHELVES and do the dishes and stuff.

PO boxes in Monrovia? :dubious:

The pellet stove is clean. OK, not pristine, but it’s been mostly de-ashed and I cleaned the window. So yay. I’ve also just finished vacuuming, so Ziva is under the bed.

**FCD **called from just south of South of the Border. By my calculations, assuming no terrible traffic slowdowns, he should hit the Virginia state line between 2 and 3, and get home about 3 hours after that. YAY!!

Higgs is outside barking. Once she tires of annoying the neighborhood and the squirrels, I’ll bathe her. Good times!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hoping to go home in the next hour or so. Thinking that maybe I should clean something or do something useful when I get there. Thinking harder about taking a big fat nap.

BLURF Happy Firday! Stayed up way too late last night so I is tahred today. I think a nap is in order.

Christmas shopping is almost done. I still have to buy for the nieces. I usually get them the little coffee cups but from what I hear they don’t use the machines anymore.

I still need to shop for Sah-son, but that is a headache because he never wants anything but hats, and lately he hasn’t wanted any of those. He hates stuff.

Sari - does Sah-son do online stuff? Maybe he’d like a gift certificate to something online, like Steam or Kindle.

My MiL is here and I got the story. Her picture is under the words “passive aggressive” in the dictionary. Oooh boy. Something about coming here so that other people would notice how much she was doing back in Texas, and also being certain that one word that my BiL said meant that she wasn’t really welcome for Thanksgiving. She didn’t even tell him she wasn’t coming. He called yesterday to find out where she was. Good grief.

Thanksgiving went pretty well. I BBQ’ed the bird (in the rain, as per Oregon tradition). I may have to give up and get a new BBQ. Between the tornado and 2 multistate moves, it’s a bit wobbly. Still, it functioned. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we had a good time.

Happy Firday everyone.

Dishwasher has been emptied and refilled. Higgs has been bathed - holy crap, was she dirty!! It wasn’t just dog-stink - the rinse water was filthy! So I scrubbed the tub after.

I’m thinking it’s time for a little Netflixing.

Yes, it is!
Got up reasonably early today; got the light show outta the way & went to the sto’ (big, famous farmer’s market). Everything to be smoked is now in the smoker smokin’. The first meal out of it (today’s lunch) shall be smoked king salmon.

Oh nuts, I forgot the nuts (almonds) fer smokin’. I don’t feel like going out in the car again. I just wanna nap, but I needs to unpack & put away everything from the past few days.

I ordered bunches of stuff. Am I in your distribution area?

My sweetie is home!!! He got here just before 5 and we just got back from getting some Chinese food. Higgs just about lost her little puppeh mind!

Punkin pie later. Life is good.

I worked, hit the grocery store, and walked Gordie. Drinking some Riverbank Rye-It. I have Honey ginger teriyaki chicken marinating in the fridge.

Sunny - he does get stuff off of Steam sometimes but it’s never more than a few dollars. He doesn’t want much and he doesn’t like to spend money. He wants to have a million dollars in the bank and live off the interest.

We got out groceries and gassed up the truck for tomorrow. Then we had to go back because the store called to tell us they forgot to put a bag in our cart.

I’m still irritable, I guess I will be until after tomorrow.

Welcome home FCD

OMG, I am so happy to be home again! I feel like I’ve been in my car forever…the drive down to Atlanta on Wednesday took an extra two hours, because of a huge wreck on the interstate.

But I got to spend a nice couple of days with my extended family, so it was totally worth it.

And the doggies did great with their new pet sitter. She is an absolute sweetheart, and says that my babies were very well behaved, and played well with the other dogs she was watching. Phew!

So, now I have the rest of the weekend to myself, and I’m going to try to make it productive. I may be insane, but I’m thinking about raking the massive pile of leaves adorning my front yard right now. Ugh. I’ve been that off, waiting for the maple tree out front to finish shedding, but I think it might be time.

By the way, I’m going to try and be a good Mumper, and keep up with everything here…but some of y’all are making me feel really inferior! I haven’t even thought about Christmas shopping, online or otherwise, and I am just in awe to read that some are just about done. I might have to step up my game here and catch up!

I knocked off around noon today. It was a ghost town, but there are things that need done in our department even when no one else is there.

I did the broccoli salad for tomorrow (it tastes better the next day), stopped and picked up Christmas stockings for Sis, BIL, Dad and the pups, along with a few small things at the dollar store. I’ll pick up the good chawklit and other treats/trinkets later.

Ham sammich and a salit for supper.

We’re going with the traditional for dinner: leftover turkey and the fixings!

DeeDee not to worry, I haven’t even started shopping yet. I tend to do everything online, so there’s still plenty of time. Of course there is!!
