You are most welcome… PB makes awesome chili but just a leetle too hot sometimes, so I know whereof I speak.
Braved the grocery sto & got all the supplies I need for Turkey day… time to chillax.

We had burgers for supper cause that was all I could manage.
We did have a little excitement. I had all the porch lights on cause I was doing the never ending laundry and when I went out to do the shuffle there was a very beautiful bird in the laundry room. Called hubs to help me get it out and it was a baby hawk. Took a few tries but we finally got it out of the screened porch. We leave the doors open so the cat can come and go as she pleases. I think she actually caught it and it got away thank God. Damn cat ain’t nothing but trouble around this house.
When hubs went to the MRI appt they had Medicare as the primary and our Aetna as secondary. It is the other way around so no MRI today but it is scheduled for 0930 in the AM. He is not happy about the lost time and aggravation.
Rosies sig.
Butters  Your cat is lucky Mama Hawk wasn’t around. They eat cats. Kind of a circle of life thing going there (Hawk-cat-baby hawk). Glad you got it straightened out.
Well I told her I wish it had pecked her eyes out. This cat is well fed and does not need to catch birds. Rats and mice I don’t mind as much.
Yes, I understand that is damn confusing for those of less than a certain intellect.
Do not despair. :dubious:
[del]No shi[/del] Golly!
I should be in bed by now, but I haven’t even started the packing, or other associated stuff yet.
Those of you who have been in food service, I have a question.
As you may have known, I am a baker working in a small cafe in a public library. Not all of our stuff is scratch, but as much as possible is, our boss likes quality food.
We have only so much display space. There’s cookies, cake, pie, muffins, scones, and so on. We will try new things, but here’s the problem I need advice on.
Customers ask is we have foods with special dietary restrictions, like no gluten, or nut free, sugar free. We have one non gluten cookie(it’s bound by oatmeal) but it has peanut butter and sugar. We’d love to have special dietary items, but folks just don’t generally buy them, The customers who request them are often those who seldom eat in our place. We are in business to make money, as well as sell food and ifwe made all those special items most would end up getting thrown out when they get stale.
So how do I tell customers this, politely and gently? We had one lady today, who works in our library but seldom eats with us, who just couldn’t understand why non-gluten stuff wouldn’t sell. After all, SHE likes it! I tried to explain how the ingredients for such products are more expensive, and we don’t usually have them on hand, but she didn’t understand the economics of it either.
Any of you ever dealt with this?
Work was a lot of running in and out of the building again and my throat is paying for it. I see a couple Bayer products in my future.
Please tell me you have at least one CO detector…
I keep kosher and the rest of my family does not. So to accommodate me, they have ordered a full (pricey) Thanksgiving meal from a kosher caterer and will be serving it off nice disposables. Okay, so the upside for them is not having to cook, but still, they have to pick all of it up and it isn’t cheap. It means a lot to me that they’re willing to undertake this just so I can eat the same as everyone else for once. I can’t wait. I love Thanksgiving.
You wanna fall asleep with OYKW?:dubious:
Not food service ,but general retail. It’s hard getting people to understand that they don’t tell us the “why” of things. Just tell the lady that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Well, I had a friend whose husband was genuinely gluten intolerant. He couldn’t even eat food that was prepared in a kitchen that had also prepared gluten food. You could try explaining that your kitchen is too small for you to prepare a wide variety of both gluten and non-gluten food in a safe manner for the gluten intolerant. Alternatively, keep suggestion cards handy and ask her (and others like her) to fill one out when they stop by. “What an interesting idea. Would you mind filling out a suggestion card? Thank you.” Then you don’t need to debate it at all, and she gets to feel important.
Which reminds me, Challah Bread shall be made!
Last work day of the week! Huzzah!!
I woke at 3:30. dammit.
My sweetie will be home the day after tomorrow - WOOHOO!!
Happy Wednesday!
Happy Hump Day!
It’s a cold 28 degrees outside, but going to go up to 50 later. Which is nice, since I have to go out today.
We have one CO detector and one smoke detector.
I think we should have two of each.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Turkey is mostly thawed and should be completely thawed in a couple of hours so yay for that. I shall prep it then and cook it tomorrow mornin’. Collard greens shall be cooked today. I have aigs on to boil for deviled aigs which shall be made today. So, all in all, I really don’t have all that much prep work to do. Bakeage of turkey, dressin’, and makin’ of gravy are all tomorrow stuff.
Firday OYKW and I shall each head out to see family. He will be in the wilds of West Alabammy and return home on Wednesday next week. I shall head up to Ye Olde Home Towne and return to da cave sometime Moanday. I may be scarce durin’ that time so try to get along without me.
CupCakes a business can’t be everything to everybody. Some people just can’t understand that. There is just no way to be able to please everybody. It’s tough when one has some types of food allergies, etc but not everybody in the world can be accommodated all the time. Just gotta do what you can do.
OK, I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. I suppose I should purtify up a bit as well and get busy with the tasks at hand. Alas. It’s so hard to be me!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Up. Blurf. Driving 400 miles today to see brother and family for Thanskgiving, rain is expected along the route. Back Sunday afternoon, so all y’all play nice now and have a great holiday.
I get the feeling today is going to take a very long time.
So the sprog and I went to the supermarket last night to get a few things. They had turkeys on sale for 39 cents a pound, so I got one. I mean, six bucks and change for a turkey; you can’t go wrong, right? Except I already had one turkey in the freezer and there isn’t room in there for another one. So the one I got last night is thawing in the fridge and will be cooked on Sunday. Whatever we don’t eat will be frozen for quick meals.
I’m watching the movie Lorenzo’s Oil, about a boy with a genetic disease whose parents work to find a treatment. I don’t know why I’m watching it because I find Susan Sarandon’s character strident and hard to like. I think I’ll find something else to watch.
Holy crap, **MetalMouse **- you’ve picked the 2 worst days to drive! I had no idea you were so totally out of your mind! Be safe!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight.
