He Hate Me FF Keeper League - Year 15

I did, I’ve been working on a few offers behind the scenes. None that have met what I was hoping to get, so at some point I’ll probably just pick the best one and take it.

I’m going to try to take a different angle, just to see what sort of offers I get and if I like those better than selling Bryant or Pryor.

I get to keep David Johnson in the 5th this year, his last year being kept. I can keep Jay Ajayi in the 6th, and he would be able to be kept one more year in the 4th. I would be willing to trade one of their keeper rights away, leaving me with the other 3 keepers. But obviously I would want pretty substantial draft pick swaps.

Today is the last day to declare keepers, at least on yahoo. Please post your keepers to the thread, if you haven’t, but also post them within yahoo. Go to your team, then the keepers tab, then select anyone you’re keeping.

I’m waiting to hear back about my keeper rights trade offer from something we were working out. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll accept one of the deals that you guys offered before. Last minute offers on any of my guys (Johnson Ajayi Pryor Bryant) will be considered.

I’m going to start from scratch. Haven’t seen it my team was fixed.

I sent you a PM to explain why your team is glitched in the league page - so you don’t have to enter your keepers there, I’d fix it manually. If you want to keep anyone from your list you can just post it here.

There wasn’t really anyone good enough to keep. Really, Matt Forte? Antonio Gates? I briefly considered Palmer, but figure I can get better or at least equivalent by the 7th round.

I’ll give you a little bit of advice that I normally wouldn’t give because you’re new and were willing to take on a not great roster - I would keep Gilislee in the 14th. NE running back is confusing, but he’s the best lottery ticket and someone is going to get a lot of production there. He’s been something like a 6th rounder this year in most drafts. I think you may have missed him because he’s not a recognized name and figuring out NE this year takes some looking into. On the other hand, if it feels good not to take anyone because you’ll be starting a fresh roster that’s totally yours, that’s also understandable.

Appreciated. Normally, the only time I’ll take a NE RB is when I’m trying to get bye-week back ups. Too much RBBC. But for a round 14 pick, that might not be too bad.

Mike Gillislee (NE - RB) as my 14th round.

Keeping Devonta Freeman (RB-Atl) in the 3rd, in case I haven’t officially mentioned it.

Alright, pre-draft trade to announce.

I’m sending Varlos the keeper rights for David Johnson in the 5th, and my 9th round pick.

In return, he’s sending me the 1.01 pick.

I didn’t like the offers I was getting for Pryor/Bryant, so I decided to try the other way - trade my most valuable keeper and keep the other 3. Overall, I like Bell (1.01), Ajayi, Pryor and Bryant over Johnson, Ajayi, Pryor, and getting a meager haul for Bryant.

Varlos gets the clear cut best player in the draft, who I think is a clear upgrade over the second best player (Bell) who just yesterday ended a holdout, had groin surgery in the offseason, and faces the 3rd hardest RB fantasy schedule this year. In comparison, David Johnson has basically no question marks.

I get to feel like I’m not getting ripped off for trading a valuable keeper because I think you guys are way, way off on the valuations and I was being generous and giving it away cheaply by offering Bryant for 2 years for a 6th round pick. Edit: To be clear, I don’t think anyone was trying to rip me off, and I appreciate the offers I got. I just feel like people aren’t thinking it through and realizing the value of what I was offering. Someone did send me a tempting deal that involved 2 of my keepers, but I really want to keep 3 this year and make a run for it as stacked as I can.
Obviously he’ll be keeping David Johnson in the 5th in addition to Freeman.

Is this meant to be a keeper declaration? Because you never followed up to confirm nor entered anyone in the league itself.

You can’t keep Cutler. He was cut by weirddave and you picked him up as a free agent. Only via trading can a player change teams and still have keeper rights.

Please check your picks and keepers.

Correction. From the trade I mentioned in post 50, I’m giving Varlos my 7th round pick, not 9th.

Yes it was.

Shit guys, I forgot to do my keepers…can i still get them in?

If so (pleasepleaseplease), it’s Hyde, Parker, Howard.

I know I am swimming against the tide on this, but this is a perfect example of why I wish we would not allow trades of keeper rights. Regardless of people’s individual evaluations of Bell v Johnson, you gain clear value by adding the first pick in the draft, allowing you to essentially keep 4 players for the cost of a 9th round pick and whatever diminishment you see from Johnson to Bell. Varlos gets the benefit of Johnson over Bell and a windfall 9th rounder while giving up precisely zero.

The rest of us pay for the value of the trade by a reduction in the talent pool. It isn’t a massive loss (only 1 player distributed among 12 teams) but I still wish we would not do such things. With that in mind, I would like to propose 2 unrelated rule changes for next year:
[ol]
[li]Kept players may not be traded[/li][li]Half point PPR[/li][/ol]

Yeah, sure, I don’t see it hurting anything.

I don’t disagree with you, except for one part Varlos did effectively give up his 5th round pick, to keep Johnson with. He’d otherwise have Bell (or someone else at 1.01) and a 5th round pick. So he’s moving down from the 5th to the 9th to upgrade from Bell to Johnson, it’s not quite as lopsided as you indicate.

I’ll put it up for vote next year (or maybe we should do it this year, since any rules we vote on next year will typically only go into effect the year after?) and I’ll vote to eliminate any sort of pre-draft trade. It’s not the same thing (much more gaming the system, I think) but a few years ago people were trading picks they used as keeper picks towards the end of the round to pick up value and to me that was a hugely ridiculous game breaking thing but no one seemed to care, so I don’t know if it will get traction.

I thought about maybe proposing to eliminate the 3 player cap, figuring the 2 rounds price was enough to keep people from keeping too many players (not often do people even keep 3 players), but I can see why that might be popular.

To add:

Varlos did effectively give up his 5th round pick, to keep Johnson with. He’d otherwise have Bell (or someone else at 1.01) and a 5th round pick. So he’s moving down from the 5th to the 9th to upgrade from Bell to Johnson, it’s not quite as lopsided as you indicate. And I’m giving up the clear best player in the draft for someone with question marks. It’s not a totally free transaction for us.

But that said, you’d have my vote to eliminate pre-draft trading. Never been a fan, but as other people have been making such trades and it’s within the rules I felt like I should it myself when presented the opportunity.

Just to be clear, in case you didn’t read the thread, the keeper lists I posted last year were just a copy and paste of the draft picks used to take them last year. Which means that you keep them 2 rounds higher than they’re listed there.

So Hyde becomes a first rounder, Parker a 6th, and Howard a 9th. Is that what you want?

(Double checking since I think you may not have read that part and think Hyde would be kept as a third rounder)
