He Hate Me Keeper League - Year 16

Yeah, sorry guys that I forgot to hold the vote about the keeper trading thing. I thought of it once or twice but was too lazy to figure out exactly what we were voting for, and then it slipped my mind since then. We can address it next year maybe.

Looks like we got our 18th for the big league. No more needed unless we happen to get two people interested.

Does anyone happen to want to join the pick 'em and survival leagues? Not exactly fantasy, but I figured you guys might be interested and hadn’t noticed.

An hour and a half till draft time. Hope everyone (except Hermit) can make it.

Let me paste the relevant part of the current projections.

Exploding Pancakes; 12-1; 1355 points.

Interesting draft. I’m happy with my team. I got an A- rating from yahoo, and projected to score more points (with less wins, so the algorithm knows my penchants) than Beef, so that’s good. Like always, I have problems balancing putting together a good team and finding keepers for next year, but, all in all, I think I’ll be able to compete … and not win, of course, this year.

My draft:

  1. DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR)
  2. Jordan Howard (Chi - RB)
  3. Kenyan Drake (Mia - RB)
  4. Drew Brees (NO - QB)
  5. Evan Engram (NYG - TE)
  6. Peyton Barber (TB - RB)
  7. Jordan Reed (Was - TE)
  8. Michael Crabtree (Bal - WR)
  9. Matt Breida  (SF - RB)
  10. Davante Adams  (GB - WR)
  11. Derrius Guice (Was - RB)
  12. Aaron Jones  (GB - RB)
  13. Alex Smith (Was - QB)
  14. John Ross (Cin - WR)
  15. Carolina (Car - DEF)
  16. Daniel Carlson (Min - K)

Best keeper: Davante Adams could be a top 5 WR. Glad I took a chance after an off year two years ago.

Best non-keeper pick: I liked getting former first round pick John Ross, a high upside player who is the #2 on his team, in the 14th round, both for this year and as a keeper. Crabtree was good value, but a bit too much TD dependant for me.

Best keeper pick: It will cost an IR spot all year, but I liked getting Guice in the 11th round.

Worst pick: Backups. I have a backup QB and backup TE, which is not how I usually draft. But I love the upside of Reed and the value of Smith, even if it cost me depth in the RB and WR positions.

Overall: Solid, competitive team.

Baltimore Weirdos

Baltimore Weirdos

  1. Todd Gurley II (LAR - RB)
  2. Alex Collins (Bal - RB)
  3. Allen Robinson II (Chi - WR)
  4. Jarvis Landry (Cle - WR)
  5. Rex Burkhead (NE - RB)
  6. Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB)
  7. David Njoku (Cle - TE)
  8. John Brown (Bal - WR)
  9. Baltimore (Bal - DEF)
  10. LeGarrette Blount (Det - RB)
  11. Calvin Ridley (Atl - WR)
  12. Justin Tucker (Bal - K)
  13. Mitchell Trubisky (Chi - QB)
  14. Danny Amendola  (Mia - WR)
  15. Hayden Hurst (Bal - TE)
  16. Antonio Callaway (Cle - WR)

Best Keeper: Danny Amendola. By default. He’s one of those guys who seemingly every year is a “sleeper” and every year, he just … is there.

Best non-keeper pick: I think Jarvis Landry was pretty good value in the 4th.

Best Keeper Pick: I think Calvin Ridley has the potential to not just be a good choice for next year, but even a spot starter this year.

Worst Pick: Jesus you love you some AFC North. Rapelisberger over Rivers and Luck. Njoku over Rudolph and Reed. John Brown over Garcon, Nelson, and Williams. Lots of eggs in the AFC North basket may not work out for you too well.

Overall: Fandom can cost, and the preference for one division’s teams left a lot of value and talent out there. But Gurley/Collins is a nice matchup every week and may win a few games themselves. They’ll kinda have to.

The GOAL-den Girls - Welcome to the League!!!

  1. David Johnson (Ari - RB)
  2. Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)
  3. Golden Tate (Det - WR)
  4. Greg Olsen (Car - TE)
  5. Matthew Stafford (Det - QB)
  6. Sterling Shepard (NYG - WR)
  7. Randall Cobb (GB - WR)
  8. Theo Riddick (Det - RB)
  9. Jordy Nelson (Oak - WR)
  10. Jared Cook (Oak - TE)
  11. C.J. Anderson (Car - RB)
  12. Geronimo Allison (GB - WR)
  13. Mike Wallace (Phi - WR)
  14. Ted Ginn Jr. (NO - WR)
  15. Atlanta (Atl - DEF)
  16. Adam Vinatieri (Ind - K)

Best Keeper: I don’t think you had one. It happens to all of us.

Best non-keeper pick: David Johnson, if healthy, can be a world-beater. Well done waiting on a defense and kicker until the end. Love it.

Best Keeper pick: Geronimo Allison is another guy who may contribute this year, but has high upside to contribute next year after/if Cobb is gone.

Worst Pick: Late round picks are usually meant for high upside players to keep for next year. Ted Ginn, Mike Wallace, and CJ Anderson are all questionably relevant this year, and almost completely irrelevant in upcoming years. And Golden Tate (who may be replaced by Golladay as the #2 in Detroit) over Fitz, Cooper, and Baldwin is a rough go.

Overall: With David Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, and Greg Olsen, there is hope. But drafting a backup QB in the 5th and a lack of keeper potential for upcoming years can make it a long season. Good luck!

The Quack Attack - Welcome to the League!

  1. Antonio Brown (Pit - WR)
  2. Derrick Henry (Ten - RB)
  3. Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR)
  4. James White (NE - RB)
  5. Tyler Eifert (Cin - TE)
  6. Los Angeles (LAR - DEF)
  7. Kyle Rudolph (Min - TE)
  8. Jimmy Garoppolo (SF - QB)
  9. Pierre Garcon (SF - WR)
  10. Ty Montgomery (GB - RB)
  11. Tavon Austin (Dal - WR,RB)
  12. Frank Gore (Mia - RB)
  13. Mason Crosby (GB - K)
  14. Brandon Marshall (Sea - WR)
  15. Terrelle Pryor Sr. (NYJ - WR)
  16. Willie Snead IV (Bal - WR)

Best Keeper: None for the noobs. Sorry.

Best non-keeper pick: I really liked the waiting on a QB and getting high upside (but unproven) Garoppolo in the 8th round. Then teaming him with Garcon in the 9th. Great.

Best keeper pick: Maybe Willie Snead? You and the wife had the same problem of drafting old, boardering on irrelevant players later in the draft like Marshall and Gore.

Worst Pick: Given the lack of bellcow backs, taking Brown before Elliot could be a mistake, and I like James White, but the Pats RB situation is unsettled and he was a huge reach in the 4th round.

Overall: This team does not scare me at all. If every team played only 2 minute drills all game so guys like Montgomery/White/Austin would get enough touches to matter, maybe, but it will be a rough first season for this team.

Spiritus Mundane

  1. Ezekiel Elliott (Dal - RB)
  2. Travis Kelce (KC - TE)
  3. Amari Cooper (Oak - WR)
  4. Marshawn Lynch (Oak - RB)
  5. Chris Hogan  (NE - WR)
  6. Tarik Cohen (Chi - RB)
  7. Sammy Watkins (KC - WR)
  8. Kenny Golladay (Det - WR)
  9. Mike Williams (LAC - WR)
  10. Jameis Winston (TB - QB)
  11. Cooper Kupp  (LAR - WR)
  12. Patrick Mahomes  (KC - QB)
  13. Spencer Ware (KC - RB)
  14. Matt Prater (Det - K)
  15. Green Bay (GB - DEF)
  16. Cameron Brate (TB - TE)

Best keeper: Mahomes in the 12th round is great value and high upside for many years. Well done.

Best non-keeper pick: I think Cooper in the 3rd was great value and obviously getting Elliot there works in your favor. Brate in the 16th was amazing value too.

Best keeper pick: Both Golladay and Williams are young, possibly game changing WR’s. 8th and 9th round might have been a touch early though.

Worst pick: Missing the first 3 weeks with Winston coinciding with Mahomes’ first year as a starter is digging quite the hole early. And your RB depth is a little rough.

Overall: If you can survive the early season, there is hope. I am nowhere near as sold on Hogan as the fantasy community, and your roster is way too young-WR heavy to cover for a huge lack in the RB position. If Zeke goes down, its over. But if he’s great, there is hope.

Nine Inch Neils

  1. Le’Veon Bell (Pit - RB)
  2. T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
  3. Zach Ertz  (Phi - TE)
  4. Carlos Hyde (Cle - RB)
  5. Emmanuel Sanders (Den - WR)
  6. Kirk Cousins (Min - QB)
  7. Bilal Powell (NYJ - RB)
  8. Los Angeles (LAC - DEF)
  9. Jordan Wilkins (Ind - RB)
  10. Giovani Bernard (Cin - RB)
  11. Devin Funchess  (Car - WR)
  12. Chris Godwin (TB - WR)
  13. Doug Martin (Oak - RB)
  14. Courtland Sutton (Den - WR)
  15. Josh Doctson (Was - WR)
  16. Ryan Succop (Ten - K)

Best keeper:From pure value standpoint, Funchess in the 11th is better than Ertz in the 3rd, which is right about where he would have gone.

Best non-keeper pick: Having Bell fall was nice, but he hasn’t reported to the Steelers so far today, so there is a chance he’ll actually hold out for realsies. I think the Hyde/Sanders picks were very good, two guys who fly under the radar, but can still put up points.

Best keeper pick: Courtland Sutton was great value in the 14th and Josh Doctson is worth a flier in the 15th.

Worst pick: Not sure Bilal Powell will ever be starter worthy, so the 7th was a bit of a reach.

Overall: I like this team. If Bell actually plays, it has the potential to win every week. I’d worry about relying on Cousins as the only QB though. All in all, a solid team with a solid mix of dependability and high upside youth. Bell better report soon though.

Carcosa Yellow Kings

  1. Saquon Barkley (NYG - RB)
  2. Mike Evans (TB - WR)
  3. Cam Newton (Car - QB)
  4. Marvin Jones Jr. (Det - WR)
  5. Trey Burton (Chi - TE)
  6. Chris Thompson (Was - RB)
  7. Rashaad Penny (Sea - RB)
  8. Duke Johnson Jr. (Cle - RB)
  9. Jamison Crowder (Was - WR)
  10. Rishard Matthews (Ten - WR)
  11. Kenny Stills  (Mia - WR)
  12. Austin Ekeler (LAC - RB)
  13. Jerick McKinnon (SF - RB)
  14. Jacksonville  (Jax - DEF)
  15. Will Lutz (NO - K)
  16. Lamar Jackson (Bal - QB)

Best keeper: Jax defense in the 14th. I expect some regression, but that’s not a bad spot for the #1 defense.

Best non-keeper pick: I love me some Austin Ekeler, and the 12th round is fine value for him. I think the Chargers find a way to get him on the field more.

Best keeper pick: I don’t think McKinnon’s starting gig is going to be taken by Alfred Morris next year (although Breida might), so it’s not a bad keeper pick in the 13th. I also like Lamar Jackson’s upside, but it might be two year down the road before you really start him.

Worst pick: Cam. Unless the Panthers reach the “Fuck it, let him run”, I think he was a reach. Russell Wilson and Tom Brady should outperform him again this year.

Overall: This team does scare me. There’s a solid mix between high upside guys (Saquon and Evans) and solid producers (Chris Thompson and Marvin Jones) so every week should be a battle against this team. If they stay healthy and Saquon is what they say he is, watch out.

Chicago Cardinals

  1. Keenan Allen (LAC - WR)
  2. Joe Mixon (Cin - RB)
  3. Russell Wilson (Sea - QB)
  4. Lamar Miller (Hou - RB)
  5. Robert Woods (LAR - WR)
  6. Dion Lewis (Ten - RB)
  7. Robby Anderson (NYJ - WR)
  8. George Kittle (SF - TE)
  9. Nick Chubb (Cle - RB)
  10. Houston (Hou - DEF)
  11. Ricky Seals-Jones (Ari - TE)
  12. Chris Ivory (Buf - RB)
  13. Julian Edelman  (NE - WR)
  14. Mark Walton (Cin - RB)
  15. Graham Gano (Car - K)
  16. Josh Rosen (Ari - QB)

Best keeper: Julian Edelman in the 13th. Hey look. A PED user. On the Pats. How odd.

Best non-keeper pick: I loved the value presented by Robby Anderson and Dion Lewis where they were taken.

Best keeper pick: Nick Chubb. Not only might he supplant oft-injured Carlos Hyde this year, he may be a starter next year. Well done.

Worst pick: I don’t feel the Joe Mixon love, but at least you backed him up with Walton. And Lamar Miller smells of desperation.

Overall: I’m not a fan of the RB situation this year and having two unproven but some upside TE’s could mean you have none, but this isn’t a bad team. If he picks the right guy to start every week at RB2 WR2 and TE, he could easily make the playoffs. Next year looks good too.

Disgruntled Goats

  1. Leonard Fournette (Jax - RB)
  2. A.J. Green (Cin - WR)
  3. Royce Freeman (Den - RB)
  4. Marquise Goodwin (SF - WR)
  5. Mark Ingram (NO - RB)
  6. Adam Thielen  (Min - WR)
  7. Philip Rivers (LAC - QB)
  8. Dak Prescott  (Dal - QB)
  9. Keelan Cole (Jax - WR)
  10. New Orleans (NO - DEF)
  11. Anthony Miller (Chi - WR)
  12. Michael Gallup (Dal - WR)
  13. Benjamin Watson (NO - TE)
  14. Mike Gillislee (NO - RB)
  15. T.J. Yeldon (Jax - RB)
  16. Brandon McManus (Den - K)

Best Keeper: Thielen for a 6th rounder is great. Dak in the 8th … not so great.

Best non-keeper pick: TJ Yeldon to match with Fournette was great. And getting Rivers in 7th was pretty darn good value so you don’t have to rely on Dak. The roster building was excellent.

Best Keeper pick: Michael Gallup. I’m a Gallup whore.

Worst pick: Your TE is Benjamin Watson. Bad spot. And I don’t buy into the Marquise Goodwin love, so he was a reach.

Overall: This will sound weird, but you did an excellent job of covering your mistakes. Rivers for Dak. Yeldon for Fournette (I don’t like Fournette). But two solid starting WR’s, two solid starting RBs, and some nice upside and depth and this team looks good. If I liked their players better, I’d be terrified. But I think Fournette is TD dependant, Goodwin is too small and slight, Watson is too old, and Ingram is too suspended and Scott/Gillisleed. On paper, a very good team. I just don’t like it.

Hermits

  1. Tyreek Hill  (KC - WR)
  2. JuJu Smith-Schuster (Pit - WR)
  3. Adrian Peterson (Was - RB)
  4. Jesse James (Pit - TE)
  5. James Conner (Pit - RB)
  6. Minnesota (Min - DEF)
  7. Matt Ryan  (Atl - QB)
  8. Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K)
  9. Marcus Mariota (Ten - QB)
  10. O.J. Howard (TB - TE)
  11. Greg Zuerlein (LAR - K)
  12. Nelson Agholor  (Phi - WR)
  13. Kelvin Benjamin (Buf - WR)
  14. New England (NE - DEF)
  15. Tyrell Williams (LAC - WR)
  16. Corey Grant (Jax - RB)

Best keeper: Agholor in the 12th. Because it sure isn’t Hill in the first.

Picks: It was an autodraft, so I’m not going to waste time. Fuck it for grabbing Kelvin Benjamin from me. That is all.

Thanks Hamlet for the reviews, I always like reading those.

Wilson, I handed over commissioner to you, now that everything is caught up and in good working order. If it worked correctly, I also assigned assistant commissioner access to myself in case there’s anything that needs to be fixed this year, but the league will be yours going into the future. Thanks for taking it over - after Varlos disappeared I’ve had to take over the dynasty league and I’m just feeling like I’m managing too many things at the moment, and the HHM commissionership was just meant to be a stopgap for me the year someone had to step up.

Thanks.

Omnipotents

  1. Melvin Gordon (LAC - RB)
  2. Devonta Freeman (Atl - RB)
  3. Josh Gordon (Cle - WR)
  4. Michael Thomas  (NO - WR)
  5. Tevin Coleman (Atl - RB)
  6. Sony Michel (NE - RB)
  7. Corey Davis  (Ten - WR)
  8. Alshon Jeffery (Phi - WR)
  9. Carson Wentz  (Phi - QB)
  10. Jack Doyle (Ind - TE)
  11. Denver (Den - DEF)
  12. D.J. Moore (Car - WR)
  13. Jake Elliott (Phi - K)
  14. Baker Mayfield (Cle - QB)
  15. Cameron Meredith (NO - WR)
  16. Elijah McGuire (NYJ - RB)

Best Keeper: Michael Thomas in the 4th. Top 5 WR in the 4th round is pretty darn good.

Best non-keeper pick: Cameron Meredith in the 15th has both potential value this year and next. Personally, I’m not seeing it, though.

Best keeper pick: DJ Moore in the 12th is good (It’d be great if I trusted Cam to throw the ball), as well as Baker Mayfield in the 14th. But I’d worry that you don’t have a starting QB at all for week 1 and possibly beyond.

Worst pick: Leaving yourself without a starting QB is pretty bad. But I think Josh Gordon in the 3rd was a reach too. Luckily, when you have Thomas, you can make those kinds of reaches.

Overall: Another scary team. If the Gordon twins live up to their potential, this team will be awesome. Good starters, pretty good depth, and some huge upside (I see you Corey Davis!) makes this team one to beat. Unless it beats itself without Wentz.

Fourth & Nineteen

  1. Kareem Hunt (KC - RB)
  2. Christian McCaffrey (Car - RB)
  3. Demaryius Thomas (Den - WR)
  4. Brandin Cooks (LAR - WR)
  5. Jamaal Williams (GB - RB)
  6. Delanie Walker (Ten - TE)
  7. Allen Hurns (Dal - WR)
  8. Isaiah Crowell (NYJ - RB)
  9. DeSean Jackson (TB - WR)
  10. Ronald Jones II (TB - RB)
  11. Mohamed Sanu (Atl - WR)
  12. Sam Darnold (NYJ - QB)
  13. Deshaun Watson  (Hou - QB)
  14. Pittsburgh (Pit - DEF)
  15. Dez Bryant (Dal - WR)
  16. Chris Boswell (Pit - K)

Best Keeper: Only one, Deshaun. I expect regression in a big way this year, but a starting QB with top 5 upside in the 13th round. Yes, please.

Best non-keeper pick: You #@#@#% @##% son of a bitch. You can just go #@% yourself and your #@^(@ ^)@). And while you're at it #@)_7 the @((^^ out of ^#(^@%^^. Nice pick with Jamaal Williams.

Best keeper pick: I think Ronald Jones II in the 10th provides good upside if he ever gets his head on straight. I also think Dez needs a fork in the ass and turned over. He’s done.

Worst pick: Demaryius Thomas and DeSean Jackson. They can join Dez in the fork in the ass club. Getting Cooks in the 4th is the only thing that saved you.

Overall: Outside of the issue with a second WR, this team is pretty damn good. So much rides on Hunt and McCaffrey though. They’re very good at what they do, I’m just very leery that they can’t do it over a full season. Too bad you have Jamaal Williams to lend a hand. Good solid team. Great team if those two stay productive.

Exploding Pancakes

  1. Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG - WR)
  2. Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE)
  3. Doug Baldwin (Sea - WR)
  4. Tom Brady (NE - QB)
  5. Jay Ajayi  (Phi - RB)
  6. Kerryon Johnson (Det - RB)
  7. Jared Goff (LAR - QB)
  8. Alvin Kamara  (NO - RB)
  9. Chris Carson  (Sea - RB)
  10. Philadelphia (Phi - DEF)
  11. Corey Clement (Phi - RB)
  12. Tyler Lockett (Sea - WR)
  13. Dede Westbrook (Jax - WR)
  14. Matt Bryant (Atl - K)
  15. Gerald Everett (LAR - TE)
  16. D’Onta Foreman (Hou - RB)

Best Keeper: Yes. All of them. Bastard. Kamara is the cream though.

Best non-keeper pick: Kerryon Johnson. Potential huge upside at a premier position and in the 6th round. Awesome.

Best keeper pick: If you like him, getting Foreman in the last round could be magic. The Texans didn’t do much to replace him as their back of the future, and he’s only out 6 games this season .

Worst pick: Gronk in the second is only workable because you had amazing RB keepers so you could afford to. Westbrook is not likely to ever be fantasy relevant.

Overall: Fuck a duck this is a good team. Strong and deep at the RB position will make this team a headache to play every week. Add in OBJ and Gronk as pass catchers and everyone else will be trying to “catch” up (see what I did there!) to this team. Fuck you.

Oh man I’ve been hoping for the coveted Hamlet “fuck you” award. You made my day.

Big Mack Attack

  1. Julio Jones (Atl - WR)
  2. Dalvin Cook (Min - RB)
  3. Stefon Diggs  (Min - WR)
  4. LeSean McCoy (Buf - RB)
  5. Alfred Morris (SF - RB)
  6. Will Fuller V (Hou - WR)
  7. Andrew Luck (Ind - QB)
  8. Jimmy Graham  (GB - TE)
  9. Marlon Mack (Ind - RB)
  10. Chicago (Chi - DEF)
  11. Latavius Murray (Min - RB)
  12. Eric Ebron (Ind - TE)
  13. DeVante Parker (Mia - WR)
  14. Devontae Booker (Den - RB)
  15. Christian Kirk (Ari - WR)
  16. Robbie Gould (SF - K)

Best Keeper: Diggs in the 3rd, good value. Not a fan of Graham.

Best non-keeper pick: C’mon over here. I just want to whisper this. [sub]I liked the Lesean McCoy pick[/sub]. I don’t think a suspension is coming and he’ll be run into the ground. Some risk, but well worth a top of the 4th round pick.

Best keeper pick: Christian Kirk. I have him in my dynasty league so here’s hoping you’re right.

Worst pick: Will Fuller was a bit of a reach. I also think you will only start either of the Devontaes if you’re really, really desperate. And not grabbing a backup for Luck could prove fatal.

Overall: This team had one of the best starts to the draft, getting pretty solid guys who fell for various reasons and putting together a solid crew with some nice depth (Mack). But a ton is riding on the gimpy shoulder of Andrew Luck, which could easily doom this team. Should be in the running though.
