I think you should all join the private SDMB salary cap league right this minute. It appears to be separate in yahoo, so it shouldn’t count against your 3 FF leagues limit. Here’s the rundown:[ul][li]There are 9 roster spots (QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, DEF)[/li][li]You get $100 to buy your players. You must have a full roster to earn points. (So figure $11 per player average.)[/li][li]You can change your mind without penalty; selling players back returns full price.[/li][li]It’s pretty much all touchdowns. (6 points per any TD, 50 passing per point, 20 rushing/receiving per point. The scoring rules cannot be changed.)[/li][li]Players range from a low of about $6 to a high of Tomlinson @ $30. Good luck trying to fit him under the cap.[/li][li]Each week, salaries are recalculated. Any player whose value dropped results in you getting back that extra cap space. Any player you have that went up doesn’t count against you; whatever you paid to buy him is the max he can cost you.[/li][li]You can completely redo your entire roster every week if you so choose.[/li][li]It’s point-based, not head-to-head. When you create your team, it will be part of the private SDMB league as well as regional and favorite-team specific categories. So after I post the best score on all of yahoo, Giants fans from the NY area will be shown to be the smartest football fans.[/li][*]There is no draft; you can start buying players right now. So go do it![/ul]FF is all about outsmarting the other guy, but your options are limited by what other people do. In salary cap football, you have no limitations. It is the ultimate contest of who is the better judge of fantasy talent.
Crap, I didn’t notice that. I thought I’d gone through and saw that it was the yahoo default scoring system. I don’t know why they don’t just use their default system - it’s better than being so touchdown heavy. I might have to change up my rosters a little bit.

OK, here’s my story.
It’s unlikely I’ll be able to make the draft. I might be able to be in and out, but even that is not certain.
So, I throw this out to the commish and the league at general: should I be allowed to have keepers? I certainly can and will exclude everyone else’s keepers, but there’s no way on yahoo I can prerank players in a certain round…
We can do the same thing as last year - just know that whoever I take in those rounds really is my keeper, and then whoever wants that player drafts my keeper? I seem to remember that sort of worked last year…
But if it will cause too much confusion and headaches I’ll pass on keepers.
So, if Ellis Dee and the consensus allows it, I’ll keep Vince Young and Philip Rivers.
You’re fine; you can keep them no problem.
I’ll explain prerankings after the keeper deadline expires tomorrow.
Oh what the hell, I’ll keep Santonio Holmes (WR-PIT) in the 9th round. Keeper value is marginal here but why not?

IMPORTANT: In the interest of preventing problems during the draft, this year I’m instituting mandatory preranking and exclude lists. I will require everyone to send me a screen capture of the tail end of your prerankings list plus your entire keeper list.
Step by step instructions:[list=#][li]Select Draft Central => Pre-Draft Rankings => Edit My Rankings[/li][li]Change the Show dropdown from “Top 25” to “ALL” and press Go[/li][li]Select the keepers in order. (See previous post.)[/li][li]Move the selected players to the excluded list, then press Save.[/li][li]Change the Show dropdown from “Top 25” to “Top 500” and press Go[/li][li]Manually click every player in the center list from the first (Tomlinson) through Jerramy Stevens (ranked #224), then move them to the “My Players” list on the right. Press Save, and then Done. There is no way to make this less painful; you have to manually click all 200 guys.[/li][li]You will be returned to the Pre-Draft Rankings summary screen. Scroll down until the entire exclude list is visible on the screen, plus at least one player (eg: Jerramy Stevens) from the rankings list right above it.[/li][li]Take a screenshot of this by pressing the PrintScreen button on the top right of the keyboard.[/li][li]Run Paint (Start => Accessories => Paint) and paste the screenshot using the clipboard.[/li][li]Save this image as a jpeg specifying your SDMB user name as the filename. eg: Munch.jpg. I upgraded to cablemodem so it won’t bug me to receive bitmaps, but they are hugely wasteful on bandwidth. Jpeg is much preferred.[/list]Failure to do this will result in a penalty. The starting penalty is that after the draft you will be bumped to the end of the waiver priority regardless of your draft position. For each time during the draft when you draft somebody else’s keeper, you will be sent to the end of the waiver priority for another week.[/li]
If you send me an image showing that you preranked and excluded all the keepers, you will not be penalized in any way even if you manage to screw up the entire draft. There are no penalties unless you fail to send me an image.
