I know it’s mid August, so the timing is right, but baseball is exciting this year (Mets fan, in case you couldn’t tell from my Facebook page) and I don’t want my the rest of my TV time taken up with preseason football!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 76 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94 for the day. Not too shabby for August. ‘Tis payday so there’s that. I should have no hassles over that at irk as the payroll report shows everyone is gettin’ paid. YAY!
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.
I am shocked! The temp dropped to 57° overnight! No wonder I was so chilly - with both windows open in the bedroom and the fan going! Unfortunately, I think today is the end of this lovely respite.
Higgs had been fed, the kittehs got treats, and the dishwasher is doing its thang! We were completely out of teaspoons and almost out of bowls (ice cream ingestion, you know) so I did a not-quite-full load. It looks full because I spread some things out, but in reality, I could have fit more in there comfortably.
**FCD **is going to futz with his bike again - he’s got to calibrate the speedometer. I’m going to pull some weeds while it’s cooler out. Beyond that, no plans. I wish I could have slept in a bit longer but the watermelon I had last night was big on the water and my bladder demanded relief. So hard to be me…
**rosie **- I agree with you about football - didn’t it used to wait till mid-September once upon a time? I seem to recall that from when I was a kid. Not that it matters - I really dislike football. ugh.
This was my FB status this morning at 5 am (I had been up since 2):
"So choices:
When I have a lot on my mind and I’ve been up since 2am should I
A. Finish off the last of the cookies and cream ice cream in the freezer and watch reruns of Murder She Wrote on Netflix
B. Go for a hour long run around the block until I am so exhausted I’m too tired to think anymore?
Stay tuned folks
Decision:
1 mi of interval sprints around the block WHILE watching Murder She Wrote on Netflix on my Android phone. Feel accomplished even if my mind is still racing.
:p"
I think I’m on the edge of a nervous breakdown.
Finished my irk shift, talked with a friend, talked to my mother.
I have to call Jiffy Lube, I’m due for an oil change and I want to see if they can update the computer/OnStar info. If not then I’ll go to the dealer for the change. I still have 24% oil life but it’s been a year since the last one.
Today is also call and pay all the hospital bills day. Yippee.
Dog bath day too. He’s getting itchy and can’t put it off any longer.
I’m with Rosie and FCM on the no love for football. I’ve already had to start blocking posts from Raven sites.
Showered and clean again!! I just transplanted 8 or 9 lilies, one hosta, one black-eyed susan, and half a dozen cuttings of a Chinese Lantern. I also watered my planters and flower pots on the front porch. The sprinkler is going on the lilies, and in an hour or so, I’ll bring it to the beds where I put the lanterns and the black-eyed susan. I got into some poison ivy, so I was wearing gloves - with luck, I’m OK in that department. Plus I was wearing long pants.
Now I’m in shorts and lots cooler. The iced lemonade helps with that.
It’s starting to warm up. Wonder how long till I have to close the house…?
Enjoy the mountain, big kitty. I do have you beat though; I’ve been there in this century.
As far as football goes, I’m more of a social watcher. If it’s just me in the house, there is seldom a game on. Tailgaiting? That’s a whole 'nother ball game, so to speak. I just hope the Titans do better this year.
Stinky filthy hounds are being cleaned up as we speak. We can do the Chi in the kitchen sink, and the big one is readily washed at the pet food shop with their nifty raised tubs and dryers, but grooming is a bit out of our skillset.
Other than that, the plan is to hide from the heat.
Yes, it was. I took Wodensday off and was feeling all refreshed on Thorsday
Woke up today feeling very blurf, with an earworm of Boris Badinov singing as he printed out counterfeit box tops. It’s a short bit of singing, so it was very repetative.
I’m better now on both counts (blurf and earworm).
I swear, sometimes I come here and come away with a to do list.
Get plants for front flower bed (partial sun - against new, light blue siding)
Bathe dog
Thanks for the reminder, swampy. We get our checks every other Thursday (electronic deposit), but the ‘stub’ is in the computer on the Firday before. And I had forgotten until reading your note, so went and printed it out.
So the Cat has gone to the Mount? Perhaps because the Mount won’t come to the Cat?
Otherwise, I’m acting Branch Chief again (dammit, my month was JUNE, people!! Some of you have stop going to school or having critical deadlines or heavy work loads and start doing goofy boss sh…stuff instead of me!!). And I am watching the weather to see if my watering the yard yesterday can produce a rain shower today (I’ve got a pretty good average, at least as good as any rain dance).
Otherwise, just some grilled cheesers tonight for sustinence. Hopefully the registrar is on the job and I’ll be able to sign up for some youth soccer refereeing on Saturday (AYSO makes you re-register every single year–and I always forget until the last minute).
Not much getting done today so far. The car may have to wait a day or two, since DH’s sleep “pattern” is an inverted mess, and I’m never comfortable dealing with car stuff without him.
Did manage to shovel off a few flat surfaces, still need to finish organizing school stuff (semester starts the 22nd). Not a lot of energy today.
I did settle on taking the cashier lead gig, as more relevant to my major. While my actual transfer will not be for another week or two (they need to shuffle someone into my current department to fill my slot), new supervisor already gave me homework, and I’ve read the manual she asked me to. Will probably re-read today.
Really do have to get groceries dealt with, since DH is out of frozen dinners (about his culinary level), and there are a few staples like bread, milk, and soda that are low or of dubious usability.
The Cat lives on a Mount, albeit a rather unimpressive hill-like one. It’s only unimpressive by comparison.
And now so have I. I would have done more hiking but my ol’ gimpy foot started making protesty pains so I left after two minor trails. But I did go on the bridge and beyond!
I was going to go to Linville Caverns on my way home, but I got there right after a church group so the ticket counter/gift shop was a little crazy-go-nuts. I’ll go again later on when it’s not vacation season.
Howdy from da cave! The irkweek is officially over. YAY!!! Magic Intartoobz Pizza for dindin. I tell teh intartoobz I want pizza and OYKW shows up with said pizza. 'Tis magic I say. MAGIC!
