Hearts and Flowers in the MMP

Congratulations on your self-restraint!

Lunch time!

I was talking to my office mate about our impending workload. It’s about to get crazy busy here. The next few months will be interesting…

We sorta borrowed the idea when Muvver (MIL) died. We had like a hundred “Christmas Bears” (plush bears of all sizes with the years embroidered on their feet) that she always put out and around for decoration that anyone who ever visited would recognize. We put up a couple signs and basically told folks pick a year that means something to you, one you find cute, or just because you liked it. It saved us trying to figure out what to do with them and people really seemed to like it. Someone else who was there did the same when his mother died except for them it was hats; from ballcaps to fancy dress ones. In an odd way I think its a good thing where appropriate as it takes one more thing off the loved ones plate and does give the people who cared about the deceased something physical to hold on to.

But a bad thing for Mythbusters fans. Remember ------- failure is always an option.

Just don’t show me anything heart-shaped and we should be fine.

Low 20’s this morning. The nearly hairless dog is very cuddly. I couldn’t get the coffee machine to function. I will have to do things the old fashioned way.

Kids are off to school and I’ve some errands to run. Roast tri-tip and mashed N.O.T. for dinner tonight.

Does anyone know what happened to LSLGuy? He’s been missing for a while.

Now to decide - nap before or after errands?

[li]Last post - 1/2[/li][li]Some minor medical procedure.[/li][li]Next/last signon - 1/30. (No, I’m not a stalker but I had been wondering myself & happened to look at the time of the signon.)[/li][/ul]

I hope nothing happened w/ whatever it was that he had done. Is anyone fiends w/ him on FB? I have a phone # but am hesitant to call.

In the good ole’ summertime, when we have good fresh tomatoes, Wifey roasts them in the oven with other veg and purees them and packs them away in the freezer for later. Well, yesterday I wanted to make sketties so that afternoon I went into the freezer and grabbed a container off of the bottom shelf, left side, where the roasted veg lives, and set it on the counter to thaw. Last night, after I had my sausage and onions cooked, I grabbed the container and pulled the top off to pour it into the pan, but thought “this is the wrong color.”
It was applesauce. Disaster averted. I thought.

Like I said, Wifey roasts other veg along with the maters, so I usually put in a can of diced maters too, to make sure. I grabbed the last can of diced maters out of the pantry. It said ‘fire roasted’ on the label.
What I hadn’t noticed, 'cause I hadn’t had my reading glasses on at the time, was that it also said ‘salsa style’ in smaller letters. Apparently, ‘salsa style’ means ‘with jalapenos’. (I looked on the ingredients list later)

Anyway, my spaghetti will ‘set you free’

Last night my Plan D insurance company, (the one that made me switch pharmacies last month), called me to tell me they were raising my premium by $31.00/mo.
They also changed one of my meds to a tier 3 this year. $180.00/mo copay now.
It’s time for a change.

Just ate lunch; leftover baked M&C; which is never as good as fresh; crunchy just doesn’t reheat well. :frowning:
Speaking of eating, just wanted to point out some add’l options to Swampy for Friday’s dinner.

Mmmmmm, yummy; don’t you just love muskrat?
Cite.

<changes his Coonie’s “I Heart Explosives” t-shirt to a more neutral Knoebels Phunfest shirt just in case>
Getting ready for irk. Yet another year of missing the annual pancake feast at church. At least I will get leftovers of a sort tomorrow since Lutheran tradition dictates that all the hardened blackened bits from Pastor’s cooking get ground up and added to the ashes.

I have achieved laundry and a visit to Miss Becky. Since I have to be in the church house I a little while, I am even still in goin’ about the public clothes. Thus I will spend most of the day in grown up bein’ seen in public clothes. This is almost an unheard of occurrence as of late!

Spidey unfortunately muskrat and beaver are not plentiful in these parts. Guess I’ll have to stick to fish on Wednesday’s and Firdays durin’ Lent, alas.

Ruble the mother of a good friend collected bells. When she died, people were given bells from the massive collection. I have two neat little bells, one silver and one ceramic. They are even more special now as the friend died last year and the bells serve as a remembrance of both her and her mother.

I still get some for my birthday though, right? :dubious:
The PSWSLS (UK division) haven’t had a lot of exercise lately, just saying.

This week’s irk experience is quite fun, though I’m very glad I bought good waterproofs. We get nice cake (and other food) at a very good discount in the canteen as well, of which I highly approve.

Spending the day mostly being lazy. It’s Fat Tuesday, AKA Mardi Gras, AKA Pancake Day in my work location. School is closed while the city celebrates with the International Pancake race and parade. Mr CK has to work, and I didn’t want to go to a parade alone. So I am spending too much time gazing at my laptop.
Not being RCC anymore, I do not feel obligated to fast during Lent, but we try to sacrifice something. Haven’t decided what yet. We are already avoiding (not completely) sugars and starches, so giving up ice cream or chocolate seems lame.
No Choir practice tomorrow, so we actually have time to do something Valentine’s Day-ish. Not much money to do that with, though.
Whether or not you have a sweetheart to be with tomorrow, have a great day.

Well, it’s raining again. So much for a sunny afternoon.

Supper will be baked pasta bow ties. And ice cream after.

Beyond that, nothing happening this evening. And since I’ve been a lapsed Catholic for more than half of my life, I don’t pay a lot of attention to Lent - in fact, it wasn’t till I started this thread that I realized it starts tomorrow. So that’s 2 things I’m ignoring this week.

I found something the dog doesn’t like - lemons.
He wanted it so badly, then when I held it out for him he made a face and started barking at it.

I’m making tacos tonight. I want to make some chicken too, but roasted with cabbage is out because I don’t have everything I need.

The dog is driving both of us nuts, he thinks everything is a toy.
Dust mop, the duster thingie to clean the coils under the fridge, grocery bags - he grabbed a whole bag that was stuffed full of grocery bags and made a lovely shredded mess of them - with me chasing him around to get all the plastic out of his mouth so he doesn’t choke on it.
You would not believe how much a shar pei can hide in those wrinkled cheeks, you’d think they are part chipmunk.

If I’m writing he wants the pen, drinking he wants the cup, brush my hair he wants the brush, and the more I tell him no the more he wants it.
In the meantime, the nice big roasted ham bone I bought for him sits ignored on the floor.
He doesn’t want what he can have, he wants what he can’t have.
Such a brat!

This is weird, my TV keeps freezing then I get a message about it being illegal to intercept? record? … I don’t know, the message flashes by too fast for me to see it.

My roommate was making chicken and it smelled so good! And then did something with the chicken by adding peanut butter because the recipe called for it, and now the kitchen reeks. :frowning:
Oh well. I’m heading out to see a few friends in a bit anyway.

Time to fetch girl child from school. Afterwards I will probably start cooking the roast.

:skritches: to the dog Sari. I think what he really wants is to play with you.

Baked pasta was yum! **FCD **has said he prefers it to spaghetti the old way. Same sauce, same pasta, but I mix in Mozzarella and shredded parmesan, then bake it till the cheese is melty. Sorta kinda like a fake lasagna if you squint and dim the lights.

I’ve nearly finished another afghan. Tomorrow, I’ll run all the stuff I’ve made thru a rinse cycle, then into the dryer - that should remove most of the critter hairs that are caught up in my work. I’ll take it all to my mom’s on Saturday.

And, of course, there will be ice cream tonight.

We are having a roasted chicken, baked sweet taters, butter peas and rice and gravy. The chicken is so small. I don’t get why he bought such a small bird. Whatever.

I cleaned and mopped the living area, went grocery shopping and cooked and washed the sheets and remade the bed. I am tahred.
I also have watched the Olympics all day.

ruble, unless you’re planning on leaving this mortal coil within the next ten years, we may not have anything to play DVDs on. :stuck_out_tongue:

sari, I tried bananas with Nelson. Let’s just say he’s not a fan. It’s likely the texture. I have to watch him around kleenex; he can fit a whole one and change in his little mouth.

Today was one of those days. I left my desk to go verify some labels on cartons up in a rack in the warehouse. Some dipstick had done the picking from the front of the pallet, so when I put the forks under it, everything fell into the net and down abo0ut 25 feet. That meant that I had to get three departments (warehouse, Quality and mine) involved as well as the safety guy. The only thing damaged was one outer carton and one of the individual unit boxes inside. I have to take my driving test over tomorrow before being allowed to get back on any equipment. Since I only hop on something a few times a week and it isn’t a requirement of my position, I can live with that.

This afternoon, I had a meeting with one of my inventory owners and had to walk him through the processes of moving inventory out of his location. He became responsible for it back in May and hasn’t transferred anything out since. We have our work cut out for us. Job security.

Home and stuffded full of pancakes, bacon, and snausage. YUM! We had a good sized crowd and lots o’ food so everyone left full and happy. EYP was most impressed. Said he just could not believe how smoothly everything went and how organized it all was. We done good!

EYP = Eager Young Pastor?
