Hello Faddah - MMP For Dad

I can’t handle teh dumb right now so I didn’t look.

Home from IHOP and after IHOP huggy wuggy squeezy time.

Yays, boos, congrats, awws, wet trout slaps where needed.

I’s tahred and goin’ beddy bye.

14 calls down, 15 to do tomorrow. Forgot about the ice cream, so I guess I’ll go have some now.

Sleepy…tired…going to bed soon.

Glad your daughter is having fun at BU, rigs.

There was more, but…I’m tired.

Hugs.

GT

Bid submitted!

Ice cream now. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

I can’t get caught up, and I’m getting sleepy again! I’m glad to see beebs checked in. I hope you’re feeling better!

{{{rigs}}} and {{{Smartie}}} - and anyone else who needs one.

I’m doing ok! Pretty tender in the belly, like I got punched. The incisions are kinda sting-y, but not too bad. Vicodin helps all of it pretty much. Why is it they won’t let you sleep in the hospital, huh? I’d just get back to sleep and here another nurse would come, wanting my BP or to stick me for a blood sugar test or something. Gah!

Meds are kicking in - I’ll try to get caught up tomorrow. Oh - easiest chicken-n-dumplings is boil a chicken, cool and shred the meat, boil the broth and add torn up canned biscuits, then add the meat back in. Salt and pepper. Eat. Sometimes I add sliced carrots and celery to the broth, cook until tender, then add the biscuits.

I’ma gonna make a pot roast tomorrow. I missed cooking, and my husband, and my own bed, and my doggies, and you guys… not necessarily in that order.

See y’all manana…

{{Rebo}} Glad all went well! You’ve been missed!

I love ice cream! There’s ice cream in the freezer, but it’s not my ice cream, so I don’t want to be that person and eat it.

Nothing much else to report. I just ate a whole boatload of Wheat Thins chips and vegetable cream cheese. I’m about to take my medicine that I was supposed to take this morning, but since I didn’t eat breakfast this morning, I didn’t get to take.

Om nom nom!

Also, have we had the discussion about me looking for a second job? I’m trying to find a part-time gig in a non-retail pharmacy for some extra experience. One of the interviewers lamented that the only part of pharmacy I know is the fast-paced shotgun retail approach. The hospital isn’t hiring, but the one that serves the prison is, and I’m going to check at the nursing home one.

Welcome back, Rebo!

Ice cream was… ok. Magic Shell always helps.

Rebo’s back! yay. Glad you’re doing well.

Um, probably TMI, but Vicodin can be very constipating–just what you don’t need when it hurts to tighten abdominal muscles. Ask your MD or try some prune juice or an OTC stool softener–not a stimulant laxative.

OK, nurse cap off.
Saga at TH’s work has thickened exponentially: it now involves attorneys, a drunken former associate (who just happened to date the Boss who is “on leave”) and other tawdry things such as indiscreet sisters who claim to have dirt on various players. I will say this: TH is about as clueless as a gelding in a stable about this aspect of things. He had the most amazed look on his face when he told me about this new “development”. I so wanted to sell him so land in Florida. (I have my naive spots, too, but this is unreal!).

I almost feel like I should make popcorn and just watch. We’ll know early next week if he still has a job. If not, I’m sure none of this will be even remotely funny to me.

Speaking of rainbow’s, I just got an email from my old high school classmate who has appointed himself information central for the class, and it’s titled, “Names to e-dresse’s.”

AAUGH! I swear he was a good student in high school – apparently his brains dribbled out between now and then!

I should have been working all evening. So what have I been doing? Watching “So You Think You Can Dance.” And listening to the police helicopter circling overhead. It’s gone over four times in the last 5 minutes. I don’t want to know what or who they’re looking for! It’s loud enough, though, that it makes it hard for me to work. Plus it drowns out the TV. Find what/who you’re looking for, cops, and go away!

We had a short storm pass through, about 3 minutes of rain and about two rumbles of thunder. Then, since he didn’t get home till nearly 7 pm because of working late and hideous traffic, Papa Tigs ordered a pizza for supper, and when it arrived, Rusty suddenly perked up and realized that if he kept sulking over the weather, he might miss out on PIZZA CRUST! Nom nom nom! It’s one of his favorite foods. So I tossed a couple of small pieces of pizza crust in his bowl, and he ate the rest of his kibble. Stupid dog!

Not only is that rainbow video damaging to brain cells–did you scope the comments? That wingnut broad is on there as of today defending her stooooooopiiddiiitttyyy! Amazing, isn’t it, to think that some people’s entire lives are just like this.

**Rigs, ** that thing about your name is just plain… weird. Quite frankly, TH sounds a lot like my dad, who was a consummate salesman–always remembered everybody’s name, the names of their kids, always had time for those people but pretty much zip for his family. I think a certain type of person only pays attention when somebody has something they want, but when they feel certain that person isn’t taking whatever it is away from them it’s “outta sight, outta mind.” I always felt my dad had this amazing magic eraser because I could literally feel him wiping me out of his cognitive sphere if I annoyed him. I think I’m probably good at that too, except I only X people out when I can’t stand them as a last resort to avoid violence.

If you can tell us any juicy details re the work situation (suitably anonymized, of course) please do because this sounds almost as bizarre as the situation with the last call center I worked in…

This is weird, I’m listening to a Kid Rock song that uses the organ riff from the Doors’ “Soul Kitchen” throughout and it’s somewhat disconcerting.

Glad you’re doing okay, DoRe, and **Rigs **is right about the constipation thing–I recommend pistachio nuts. I used to take along a couple pounds on every camping trip since SCA events are kinda tailor made to cause constipation through dehydration. The nuts are high in fats and fiber to kinda slide stuff right along and the salt makes you thirsty and encourages adequate hydration. Avocados are good, too.

Tigs–just :dubious: :smack:

So I got this movie and this one from Netflix tonight and I can’t decide which one to watch. Then again I’ve been listening to aggro white boy rap all afternoon so I suspect it’s going to be the “Hard Eight.” I could just pop in “Shoot 'Em Up” and stop pretending to have any claim to intelligence whatsoever. Of course, what with Clive Owen and all it’d just turn into a big old girly fapfest so perhaps better not… Whoa, was that my outside voice again? Silly me… :stuck_out_tongue:

Aww, poor Rusty! I’m glad you tossed him some pizza crusts, MamaTigs. And I don’t know how I missed that info that Steve Villanueva was getting married!! OMG!!

Three down, two to go. Today was a very strange and stressful day at work for me. Just had a lot of stuff happen this morning, and then this afternoon, one of my co-workers got sick and called the emergency number. So a security guard showed up, asking who was sick and had called for the nurse–which I was completely clueless about! I ended up calling out to the office, “Did someone call for the nurse? Is there someone sick?” only to hear a garbled cry from the co-workers office! He’d had a bad coughing spell (note: he frequently has coughing and sneezing spells) and he had trouble breathing, and he also had chest pains. They called the ambulance and the paramedics took him to the hospital; at least they weren’t blaring the sirens when they left. The worst part was that we weren’t able to get in touch with his wife; security left a voice mail for her! I think he’ll be all right; it was just scary, especially to his staff (it’s really just he and two others in their small division). And they also gave me their contact information–because I had absolutely no number for his wife!

Glad to hear that you’re doing okay, Rebo; gentle, healing hugs for you.

g’night all.

Rebo, I’m glad you’re back home and on the mend. I had my gall bladder removed the old-fashioned way and have a “lovely” scar on my abdomen to show for it.

So, the guy that was supposed to come look at our boat didn’t call or show. Harrumph! We even hooked it up to my rig and pulled it out of the garage so he could climb around in the boat and look around.

Damn, I wish we could get that thing sold. I just want it gone now. I’m sick of it taking space in the garage and I’m sick of paying insurance on it.

Wow, rigs, your husband’s job situation sounds like something out of a bad movie. I hope he manages to hang on to his job.

I’m glad your daughter is safe in Boston and enjoying her orientation.

Well, I’m tired and I guess I should head to bed. Nighty-night!

Rigs, I hope your daughter is enjoying her orientation. But if/when she moves up here whatever you do don’t let her rent an apartment in Allston! And don’t even let her ever mention the word “Linden”, shiver.

Sorry, I lived in the BU area temporarily and it wasn’t a good experience.

And I should add that I absolutely LOVE Boston; it’s only the neighborhood of Allston that I have a blood feud with.

:: hugs for Rebo and rigs ::

I feel kinda grumpy today, for no good reason. Definitely looking forward to getting out of the house tomorrow. Friends have plans to go to our favorite club. I haven’t been clubbing in eons.

Morning all. Hopefully a quiet day today. I have a job interview on Sunday for an in-house position with an investment bank. Fingers crossed they like me, 'cause then I would only be working 8-4! Please, please, please, please …

Rebo, take it easy, take it easy, relax, rest! I hope you feel better soon!

Okay, off to do some pretendy-worky! Ciao folks!

:: fingers crossed for Dotty ::

I just watched that rainbow video. Teh rainbo waz totalle kewl and i agree some1 is putting things in our water bc every1 knows water just doesnt make colors like that if its naturual!!!1!1111!!!1

Hi Haze! :: waves in a general easterly direction :: How’s the jetlag?

{{Rebo}} I hope your recovery is smooth and quick! And yes, you don’t want to let the Vicodin plug you up. After my knee surgery, the internist who did rounds for all the folks on the joint unit got all excited when I told him I’d managed to poop – they wouldn’t let us go home until we could! :dubious:  And that wasn’t even abdominal. So be sure to keep your innards moving!

(Note: You realize you’re getting old when you can talk to people seriously about the state of their bowels!)

I think I’m going to give up and go to bed. This guy just said the following sentence, and I swear I am not making this up:

“How much testing do you need before you move to that next gate to start pushing toward a real productionization?”

:smack: :smack: :smack: Why do they torture me with words like “productionization”???

Better, thanks. I woke up at 7am today, which is loads better than 4:30am. :smack:

All this talk about Vicodin and constipation is ruining House for me.
