**Pie **-- didn’t get a chance to give you Good Luck vibes yesterday. Hope you get the contract!
**Haze **-- glad your getting some sleep at last. Flying through so many timezones always takes a few days to get through; looks like you’re pretty much over your jetlag, though
**Ivory **-- the Happy Place is someplace so many of us don’t seem to manage to visit nearly enough… glad you got a chance to be there, even if briefly
**Rigs **-- I’m sorta, kinda a transplanted Bostonian too, and I love the city. I’m sure your daughter will have a great time there, and a good education. Good luck!
I am so tired. I barely slept last night because the old Restless Leg Syndrome was kicking. I find this extremely frustrating, even moreso than usual because my best friend is taking me out tonight, one day early, to celebrate my birthday and I don’t know if I’ll have time to take a nap this afternoon.
Well, I best be going. I’m here in TVLand and I’ve got an hour worth of driving to make it to work.
I hate RLS, I’m lucky enough to not normally have it, I actually have to induce it. I discovered this one day when I tried to take thoswe OTC sleeping pills (histamine tablets). They make my legs go all wonky, so much for a sleep aid!
Morning all, up and caffeinating here. Rigs, been thinking of you and hoping that things will work out okay for your husband. Beebs, sounds like you’re back to your usual self (hopefully!).
Rebo, sleep is unhealthy. That’s why they don’t let you do it in hospital. Glad you’re okay.
I love the idea that the visible spectrum wasn’t visible befolre. Before what? THe Big Bang? THe existence of the universe?
Okay, baby let me sleep until 6:30. I love Nat. He still isn’t very useful about chores, though. Today I’m processing a bunch of the food I bought yesterday- slicing veg, making stew and pasta sauce. Tomorrow I’ll bake.
Mornin’, y’all. Went to the Y this morning and rode the bike, but avoided the weight circuit so my naughty bits have a chance to heal.
I guess  is the best one to use, because it’s stoopid to get mad over something I can’t control. There’s another fire in the Dismal Swamp, this time in Cottonfield County, and about 15 miles from the other one in Virginny. So far, it’s a matter for NC state forestry and the Feds to battle, but if it spreads… That’s now 3 wildfires in the area, and I have black snot from breathing all of the smoke.
Ah, but see, you have uncommon sense. What you described is what Six Sigma does, only with some (often misused) math on top.
Problem is, often the guys on top are chosen for their “leadership ability” (which can mean anything from enthusiasm to toffee-nosedness) and not for their thinking ability. I’ve known many who went all gung-ho any time they were told about a new brand of corporate cheese, without realizing that, for example, 5S is older than and included in the processes of a factory which (like that one did) has a good ISO9000/14000 system in place. “It’s new!” Uh, no, dear, it’s about 20 years older than us two…
Good morning, or afternoon or whatever time of day it is for our international crowd!
Thanks for all the welcomes! I feel a little better today. It mostly hurts to get up and down. [TMI] I’ll take it under advisement re: constipation. I take Benefiber every day anyway, I guess I’ll up my dose. I really don’t want to go, though! I think it might hurt my belly a bit. [/TMI]
You know what’s good? Coffee! Mmm. I’ve been without for two days.
We had a huge thunderboomer last night, with hail the size of quarters! We needed the rain though. We might just get another storm tonight. Yay for rain! Boo for hail.
Soon I will be in a long, hot shower wishing it were a Jacuzzi…
Stepson and SIL (+her husband) come in today for the festivities. My sister and her husband as well. BIL and cousins tomorrow.
Let family madness begin!!!
Glad to see you’re up Rebo!

Special1**: Happy place-- yeah, I managed to find my way there yesterday evening, and y’all are welcome to join me…
And I consider myself a displaced Bostonian, too-- Boston is a wonderful city to go to college in- but waaaaaay to expensive to live in
When we lived in San Deigo we almost moved to Austin, TX. My then 3 year old kept mispronouncing it “Boston”. Nearly broke my heart! That position fell through so we ended up in CT (at least it’s close!!).
Afternoon, everyone! Glad to see you’re back with us, Rebo, and I think it’s good that you’re keeping your TMI to yourself, that Swampy has enough of it to spread around without any help.
We have a shiny new database at work, it’s a re-vamp of an existing one that was written a long time ago in a hurry and is rather difficult to use. So our resident database wizard designed a new one with lots of swanky new features. I’ve been testing it for a few days, trying to break it and have only managed to break bits of it. Tin Knickers decided to come and have a look at it today - she should have had access to it but managed to press the wrong buttons and got herself locked out - so I opened it up and the poor woman was virtually jumping up and down, clapping her hands with glee. Not the kind of decorous behaviour I have come to expect…
After that, I just about had time for a cup of tea to calm my nerves before it was time to go to a mandatory fire safety training session. Yes, now I know what a fire alarm looks like, what the various types of fire notices look like, what a fire extinguisher is and how to open a fire door.
As if that’s not enough excitement for you, Assistant Stuck Up Twunt asked me to arrange a series of meetings in a specific venue which I did…now she’s changed her mind because the venue is too far away from our office and it would take too long to walk there.
Well, let’s see… 40 years ago would have been 1968, so I think we can say with certainty that the visible spectrum only became visible after all that LSD that was dropped on the world during the Summer of Love (1969). See? Nixon et al were right! Those damned hippies were trying to take over the world! And gaze upon what they have wrought: rainbow’s in sprinklers!!!
Mothers, look to your children! Men, to arms! To arms, I say!
<rides off on horse ala William Dawes>
TH awoke me at 0600 to run some of his notes by me. OK. So, I change phrasing and tweak meaning etc and then he says, " Don’t write on the paper! I’m not going to change this. I only wanted your thoughts." :dubious: Why am I awake?
He then changed his mind again and decided to take my suggestions–which by then I couldn’t remember. I don’t retain stuff anymore–editing by me has to be a real time operation. This stuff does not stay in my head…
Once we know more, I may write a fairy tale here. Actually more of a fable with a strong moral lesson at the end.
I get to work with nice coworker today. Yay! And then Friday. I hate Fridays–Annoying Coworker, Other Slightly Less Annoying Coworker and a Nonentity and Me. Bundle o’ fun.
Ivory Billed Woodpecker! You forgot the ball-change, and glide… 2,3,4.
You’ve got it all wrong. It has everything to do with old movies and TV shows not being in color. They are that way because before 1964, the whole world was black and white; ergo, rainbows didn’t exist.
Well, that’s what I told VunderKind when he was 6; the part about black and white.
Rigs, TH sounds a lot like my dad. And my parents have been married for almost 42 years! I really don’t understand much of the time why they stay married. Mom always feels very isolated at home because Dad just doesn’t pay attention to her. But yeah, if it’s anyone else, it’s all about drop everything and help!
I do need to pay attention to make sure I don’t do that to KeithT.
I lived an hour outside of Boston for a year and loved it (the city, not the god-awful suburb where I lived). It’s a wonderful city, still one of my favorites. (Although Chicago’s starting to threaten it for the top spot.)
I was going to bike to work today, but it got overcast right before it was time to go and I wimped out. It’ll probably be fine, but I don’t want to get wet.
“Productionization”… hee. Managers get paid by the letter so bigger words are better. Isn’t that how it works?
Good luck with the interview, Dotty!
Hee. That made me laugh.
I think today’s going to be a very low motivation day. Blergh.
