Hello Faddah - MMP For Dad

The overhead views are just plain aerial photos. Street View is a new thing where they do something akin to shooting a continuous 3D movie as they drive around. You can pick a point on the map, and an image will appear - you can then use the mouse to rotate left to right and up and down. It’s as if your head was at that spot and you’re looking around.

They haven’t quite made it to my neighborhood yet.

No big news around here other than that our neighbor got in a wreck yesterday. He was kept in the hospital overnight. Not sure if they’ll let him go home today or not. Fortunately for their cats, we have a key to their house, so last night I went over and fed the cats and shuffled a full sink of dirty dishes into the empty dishwasher and washed them.

He’s badly banged up - from what I understand, his chest is one huge bruise from the seatbelt and there’s a blood clot in his throat. As I understand it, he was T-boned while pulling out of a driveway. Thanks to a parked truck, he was unable to see oncoming traffic. I’d like to know how fast the other guy was going on a city street to do that much damage.

Just for comparison, a few years ago, we got T-boned pulling out of a parking lot. The cop estimated the other guy was doing about 40-45 based on the skid marks and was driving recklessly (alas, not wrecklessly) due to how short a distance we were from a stop sign that he either blew through, or peeled out from. As it was a 30 mph zone, all blame was assigned to him. We were completely uninjured.

You’re a nice neighbor, gotti. It’s nice that you were able to do that for him. I hope your neighbor is okay.

Yeah, it appears the street maps thingie you guys are talking is not available for my area yet. The closest are Spokane or Portland, Oregon.

Evening all. Busy start to the weekend and now I’m tired and ready for bed!

Nice hair, McUne! I have curls too, so I know what it’s like!

Happy Birthday Cutie!!!

**Happy Birthday PurplePie!!! **

my house is on streetview. wheee.

can you tell how thrilled I am by that?

Not street viewed. We live in the boonies. We have cow view instead…
Pretty curls MCUNE

I just my hair cut tho’ she cut it a wee to short for me. My curls tightened up shorter than expected this time. Oh well- it’s not too too short, I just like it a bit longer.

I always wanted straight hair. That winged. Girls who were in middle school in the 80s know exactly what I mean.

Wings. I wanted wings… :frowning:

It’s funny McUne, aside from my long bangs, you and I have identical hair.

I’m at home trying to motivate myself to pay bills. After that gruesome chore is finished, it’s off to TVLand.

I have managed to take a shower, do some laundry, and…that’s about it.

Screw it, I’m relaxing as much as I can today.

Since the sun was out, I thought I’d put some shorts on and go wash my car. All of my shorts are way too big for me. All of them…even the new pair I bought to wear with my new bathing suit. So, while my middle looks nice and trim, from my hips down I look like I’m wearing a potato sack with short legs. This also means that my new bathing suit is probably too big too, sigh. I never even got a chance to wear it.

I don’t have the extra money this week to buy some new clothes for me, dammit.

back in the 70’s, the trick to straightening medium or long wavy/curly hair was to use your whole head as a roller -
starting from the back while your hair is still wet, using long straight sturdy hairpins, brush your hair around your hair, insert a pin every half inch or so, keep wrapping you hair around your skull, and pinning it in place. when you’re left with a little ponytail at the top center of your head, roll that around a coffee can or gigundo roller, and pin it place.
If I can find a pic of me from then with curly and with straight, I’ll show you the results (later, like this weekend)

FROM THE COOKIN’ BEAR

If one has a recipe that calls for softened butter, the butter will soften quicker and sooner if one remembers to TAKE THE DANG STUFF OUTTA DA FREEZER!!!

:smack: :smack: :smack: :smack:

That’s a smack for each stick of butter I need to soften. Oh well, guess I’ll be makin’ cheesestraws tonight instead of this afternoon. I remembered about the butter around noon when I finished up work (YAY!). I went in the kitchen to make myself a sammich and noticed cheese sittin’ on the counter but no butter.

MCUNE I like your hair. I think curly wavy hair is purty on wimmens. If’n I let my hair grow out it’s all wavy curly like. And uber thick. Back in the day, my hair was long (shoulder length) and I’d tie it in a ponytail. My ponytail would be all frizzy like a poodle’s tail. I called it my poodle butt.

Steak for dindin tonight, along with a sallit and some steamed new N.O.T. also called red N.O.T. by some. Sometimes I like to steam 'em, quarter 'em and eat ‘em with some butter, chopped chives and a glop of sour cream. MMMMMM… I have local grown maters for the sallit. These are non salmonella tainted maters. Matter of fact I had me a big ol’ juicy messy mater sammich for N.O.L.. The kind you have to stand over the kitchen sink and eat cause it’s drippy and messy. Does anybody outside the southern USofA eat mater sammiches? Just curious.

Taters are you takin’ advantage of the fact that today has been decreed Taters gets to relax day?

Da cave ain’t on google maps. I am not surprised. I suppose nobody wants to get that up close and personal about southwest Jawja.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Pie Day!!!

<flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>

I’m home in an empty house. **FCD ** has a late meeting and may not get here till after 6. SIL left word that he’s out following up on various job applications. So after I read a bit, I’m going to tidy up, since the house is a wreck. Go me!

TGIF!!!

**McUne ** - I would kill for hair like yours. I’ve been cursed with fine, straight, thinning tresses. The only good thing is that I’ve yet to see a grey hair. That’s probably due to good, clean living. I’ve had perms, slept in curlers, tried hot rollers and curling irons, but in a matter of minutes, I have strings. So I keep it short and try not to think about it.

Stoopit hair.

Well, off to dust with me. I hate housework. I may get a maid, just because.

**Swampy ** dearest, I must admit that I haven’t done much of anything beyond take a shower and wash and dry one load of clothes. So yes, I guess I am loafing.

Well, that’s not exactly true either. I’ve been upstairs in my bedroom tearing it apart to find one pair of shorts that don’t look ridiculously big on me. No luck. I thought for sure I had one pair of shorts left over from my skinnier days, but I guess I must have tossed them.

Dang, I really want a BLT. All this talk about 'maters and what not has set me off on a serious craving for one. The problem is, I don’t have 'maters, I don’t have bacon, and I don’t have lettuce.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a 'mater sammich, or even a good BLT, for that matter.

A neighbor decided they didn’t want tomatos, or they got too many plants, and gave us a couple of tomato plants, so we might actually be able to have some good home-grown tomatos instead of those icky mealy pinkish things erroneously labeled as tomatos at the grocery store.

do you have bread and mayo?

I’ve been craving BLT’s too! I pulled some bacon out of the freezer this morning in hopes that it will be thawed enough to cook up tonight. I have everything else for it in the fridge.

Swampy I’ve done that too, though more often than not I forget to take it out of the fridge to get it to soften. The good thing is when I pre-heat the oven, I can set the butter on top of the stove and turn it as it heats up and I can usually get it to soften up. (Yes, I do use the microwave too.)

Thanks everyone for all the comments on my hair! I didn’t think it looked that good, but thanks!! You all have made my day.

Work has been dead. I even went through my email, cleaned up and organized my bloglines, applied for a couple more jobs, took a couple free online classes and I still have two hours of work left!

I suppose I could write an actual blog entry since as of late I’ve been just putting up pictures. But what to write about…

Yup, got the bread and mayo, but somehow a bread/mayo sannich doesn’t sound all that appetizing.

The hubby is going out with our friend tonight to a softball game and then a bar where DJs from a local radio station show are going to be. Since it appears to be a guys night out thing, I guess I’ll stay home and veg. Yeah, I lead such a thrilling life.

I’d kind of like to go, but since our friend didn’t invite me too, I’m not going to muscle in on the doings. That would be rude.

Hmm, all this talk of food has got me feeling slightly hungry. It’ll probably pass in about 15 minutes though, so I’ll just let it go.

When I was a kid, I *lurved * mayo on fresh white bread. Now I *lurve lurve lurve * thick slabs of fresh-from-the-garden 'maters on lightly toasted white bread with mayo and a little salt. I cannot wait for local 'maters. <insert drool here>

That street view thing is way cool! My house isn’t on it, but the entrance to my subdivision is. And you can see my office building! What a cool new toy! Ok - I’m easily amused.

I’m feeling a lot better! I went down to the doc’s office and got my return to work thingie. Then I stopped at Best Buy and bought a bunch of movies, some of which were on sale. I got An Unfinished Life, The Bucket List, There Will Be Blood, Wedding Crashers, The 35th Anniversary edition of Deliverance, and Full Metal Jacket. And a live Styx CD for only $5!
I’m kinda tired now.

I’m making boiled shrimps for dinner, with corn on the cob and sallit. And trifle! I’m gonna take some vanilla puddin’, and a can of peaches, and a bunch of whipped cream, all layered real purty with leftover angel food cake. Mmm.

Forgot to add:

I love your hair, too, McUne! I have curly hair but it won’t do what yours does, it just frizzes if I grow it out.

Triple post!

Just wanted to say that my office rocks! They sent me a big bouquet of flowers. So sweet of them!
