Hell's Kitchen 8/29/11

Elise hasn’t been booted because the contest needs a villain and she creates conflict. The show is sadly predictable in that respect.

Whatever. I just wish she’d stop doing that “prolapsed rectum” thing with her lips whenever she’s trying to look fierce.

Much as I wanted Elise gone, the blonde girl really did deserve the boot this week. She was totally broken by the end.

Next week the previews looks as if everyone walks out on Elise…doublt it though, good drama!

Good description! Given that it’s often accompanied by such statements as “I’m a better chef than you,” I thought it was more of a pout than a display of fierceness.

I was thinking, it’s interesting that hardly anyone changed teams this year, just Natalie moving from red to blue. Usually there’s a bit more movement than that.

I also wish they’d do at least one season where the teams don’t start out as boys vs girls. There’s not really any reason for them to separated that way other than it saves them the trouble of finding some other way to sort the teams.

Damn, Elise is the bad penny that they just… can’t… get rid of.

There was no reason for her to be picking a fight like that when they were making up their menu.

Yeah, didn’t take her long to endear herself with the boys, did it?

Especially Will: he goes out of his way to be nice with her, to try to get an amicable working relationship – and that lastest just about as long as it took for them to eat the reward dinner.

Surprising finish! But I’m not upset about it.
I wonder what really went wrong on Will’s side? After the doors-ceremony, he said to Will, “It really wasn’t your best service” or something like that.
Maybe he tried some ‘adventurous’ cuisine on his final menu. And it didn’t go over well. Or maybe he was held up on fish for longer than was let on.
I’m so glad Elise didn’t make the final 2. I hate that no one called Elise on her attitude/inability to get along with others, and in fact got complimented on it while being eliminated.
(Except at the very end when Ramsay told her, “Keep cooking, just stop being such a bitch!”)

Yeah, I was disappointed that after all the drama, Elise went out just like anyone else (plus a few tears). And then, when the old contestants came back and they started to clash in the kitchen, Carrie once again missed her chance to brain the bitch with a frying pan, or at least deck her.

shocked. shocked, i say.

For bosses I’d work for, Will would be Number One, with Paul following a distant second (I don’t care for working for volatile people), and all the rest of the contestants (especially Elize and Tommy) being a “No way in hell; I’d quit the first day.” I think Will will be fine in his career - he seems to have his shit together.

I actually kind of liked Tommy, despite the fact that his appearance always reminded me of that Far Side cartoon (How Nature Says Do Not Touch).

Kroupa (sp?) screwed him over on the fish station, pretty much. If he’d picked the other girl instead of trying to mess up Paul by putting her on Elise’s team, I suspect he’d have won.

Each team had a useless person, but Paul was much quicker to his problem out of the way than Will was (moving Elise/Natalie around to cover the stations as needed).

From a more meta point of view, his real mistake was probably taking Tommy with his first pick. If he had gone with Elise and Natalie at 1-3 (assuming Paul took Tommy), I think it’s an easy win; for all that Elise was a walking attitude problem, she was the most competent of the runners up in the kitchen, and it was pretty predictable with her personality that she’d be driven to help whichever team she was on get the win.

I think Will was still suspicious of Elise sabotaging him. The tipping factor was probably sending out Krupa’s undercooked fish, which slipped past both Will and Ramsay. At least Paul was able to spot the raw steaks before sending it out. In retrospect imo Will’s biggest failing was having Krupa on fish to begin with. Krupa would have probably done better at desserts or garnish.

God, I hated Elise. Hated! ('Course, that’s what we were supposed to do.) But I have to give her full props on stepping up to help Paul win. She still went about it the wrong way, but she was fully behind him.

I like Paul, but I’m also kind of surprised about the result. Will’s food was just better, in almost every way - even Ramsay said so. But Will did take a long time to recover, and didn’t do so well at the pass when there were four of them, either. He does need to improve in the motivation department. That said, I’m not certain how much motivation is really required in a professional restaurant, either (which Hell’s Kitchen most definitely is not).

I couldn’t work for or around him - I’d have to strap my slappin’ hand down to my side.

His appearance to me screamed “kick my ass!”
