Spread the word around and keep a look out for anyone bragging about this online or, if you live in the area, locally. Who ever did this needs to be stopped and prosecuted.

I can’t write more because I’m just too disgusted. Please if you hear/read someone bragging about or even hinting at this, contact the owners.
This horse obviously was so trusting that he stood there while being doused and didn’t even run from these cretins. They need to be brought to justice in a very public way so that the WHOLE COMMUNITY can know who they are and what they’ve done.
Aren’t those befriending the type of person likely to set a horse on fire not the type that’d likely report a person? Wouldn’t those seeing bragging of the type mentioned report the person regardless of whether or not there were a public announcement?
Sounds like the work of a budding serial killer. I’ll bet you they don’t find him, and I’ll bet the next time he does something like this, it’s not to a horse. Awful story.
gamerunknown, are there any possible answers to your two questions which, when considered as behavioral factors within the broad community of possible readers, argue against the posting of a public announcement?
The alternative is…what? Do nothing, and hope someone catches the perp “in the act” if/when he does it again?
Put the info out and maybe someone hears one of the dipshit’s buddies yukking it up in a bar somewhere, or given the number of Facebook hits of people doing stupid/illegal stuff and bragging about it online, it’s not entirely unreasonable to post a BOLO.
I hope they catch this shit stain. And, clairobscur, it appears that Glenn Oil is still in business and still contracting with the federal government. Either way, I hope they find this pos.
After discussion, I am reopening this but have deleted the links in the OP.
I would also remind posters that board policy prohibits encouraging illegal activity. Please no calls for or incitement of violence or other extralegal response.
Sometimes people bragging sound just too looney to believe. I once accepted a ride from base to my apartment off base with three guys in uniform. Along the way, they started bragging about stuff they’d done to a girl the night before. It creeped me out and I lied about where I lived and had them drop me off on a corner. What they were bragging about sounded just too insane to be real and I thought they were just trying to scare me. So I did nothing about it. The next week, the news broke that a girl who’d gone missing had in fact been killed in a disgusting way. Now, either they were the guys or knew the guys who did it or it was just one big heck of a coincidence that they’re imagination matched what was done to that girl. I have no idea of WHY they bragged in front of me like that, then let me out. They were probably stoned. But, if I had thought for one minute that what they were saying could have been real, I would have gone straight to the police.
The horse is described to be in severe pain and I had thought the same thing. He should have been moved to a hospital yesterday or today where he can receive better pain management. So, if the vets and owners want to move forward, and it seems like the community is willing to help out with costs. Then it is their decision. There is a mare that survived more significant burns (maybe 70% of body) who is doing well today. Her burns were from a barn fire. The gelding doesn’t look anywhere near that level of burns.
My biggest issue is that a person who would do this is truly on track for infamy and they need to be found and prosecuted before more animals (or worse people) are hurt or killed. Such a person needs to be forced to face this community and be held accountable for what they’ve done.
Not for lack of trying to have it fail. I’m extremely warry of vigilantes. They just don’t know where to stop (in this case wanting to trash a whole family over an abused cat, because they felt the teen hasn’t been/wouldn’t be punished enough to staunch their blood thirst).
This is a 9/2 update re condition: “…Northstar is still eating his grain, begging for lots of hay and drinking. His vitals remain good, he is urinating and defecating normally. Jessie said that he still doesn’t want to move more than he has to, but that he seems less painful than he did two days ago” (from the Facebook page)
The horse hasn’t been moved to the hospital for lack of funds.
I agree with this, I have seen animal rights groups deluge law enforcement office in hateful ways because they felt that the LE office wasn’t doing enough. They loose sight of the fact that the LE office and prosecutors have budgets and other criminals to deal with.
Again, if you ever hear someone bragging and it seems too insane to be real. Well, it just might actually be real. There are some scary people out there. In the situation I’d described above, I was a 17yo who’d never been away from my home town. Today, I would definitely let the local LE or someone know about anyone who sounded like a psychopath in training. The person (people?) needs to be caught and prosecuted.
