personally, i can’t stand angel for men, it does absolutely nothing for me.
i’m a big fan of issey miyake’s l’eau d’issey…it’s VERY sexy, but takes a while to settle.
i’m also a fan of mania by armani, clinique happy, ralph lauren romance, and hugo boss.
cool water is very soapy and “clean”, but it smells like every guy on the planet, so i’d give it a miss if you want something different.
i’m not sure how old you are (sorry) but if you’re looking for something classic, traditional and sophisticated, eau sauvage by christian dior is probably a good bet…but my dad wears it, so i don’t find it sexy!!
Many, many compliments from wearing Escada.
Its not new but its unique and lasts a long time with one spray.
Doesn`t overpower either. Plus no-one has ever heard of it when I tell them what it is.
Unless you are going to some kind of 80’s themed party, then Drakkar is definately out. The same could be said for my favorite from the era, Polo. Although I still have a bottle and wore it as part of my costume for said mentioned party with an IOU sweatshirt. I really need to start throwing things away.
I have a problem with stuff giving me headaches (anything by CK comes to mind). I’ve been using Lucky for men for awhile and get a lot of compliments. It’s not to strong but not to flowery either.
Blaargh! This was my greatest fear. To make matters worse, I believe it is Polo Sport that I keep in my car in case I ever need to freshen up after a particularly long day.
Based on input here and some past experience, I think I may give Armani and Hugo a try, though I’ll keep an eye out for some of the others. Idiot that I am, I just spent a week in Dijon and didn’t look at one men’s cologne.
irishgirl: I’m relieved you don’t find your father sexy… and no, I’m nowhere near old enough to have a child who understands the concept of sexy. I’m in my post twenties.
Check out Creed cologne. Mr. Athena and I stumbled upon this a few years ago, and it’s really wonderful. IIRC, it’s a English company who have been making colognes and perfumes in Paris since 1760. They made scents for much of the crown royalty of Europe. It’s might fine stuff!
