That would be much easier, but I thought we weren’t supposed to wrap parcels in brown paper any more. I remember being behind a woman in line at the PO maybe 10 years ago and the clerk telling her to remove the brown paper. I can’t remember why. I think it had something to do with the paper screwing up the conveyor belts or something. Maybe it’s different at UPS? I’ll look into it.
The box is too big for my babushka cart. Maybe one of my friends can give me a lift. If not, Uber shouldn’t be too bad, and if the weather’s OK and the lupus allows, I could walk home.
I hope you get good news on the MRI, Sunny, and soon. I hate that waiting period.
butters, that sounds like a worthwhile program. Do they take private donations?
Irked, came home, walked the dog, went out again for groceries, picked up a patty melt from Steak - N- Shake for supper and am home for another exciting evening at CasaRoja.
Went in for my IV infusion. They swore up and down it was a mild antibiotic and wouldnt make me nauseous. They lied. I got anti-nausea meds from the last time. They’re helping.
This whole thing would probably be moot, if they could find a food I can reliably eat. Meal replacement shakes are crappy.
Roxy *lurves *her trampoline - once we showed her how to use it. It was a major paiin to put together, and I had to have **FCD **help me finish it. Luckily, we almost never open the front door, so it can live in the “foyer” such as it is.
I won’t make early Christmas gifts a practice, but this year, she’s too young to know the difference.
Typical Saturday ahead - laundry, critter fountain, vacuuming, plus some Roxy time while daughter finishes a school assignment and SIL works.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, a load of towels and sheets in the wash, puppy crate cleaned and fixing to do KP after breakfast. Trying to get al of the weekend’s chores finished so that I can have fun the rest of the weekend.
Goalie Santa ---- you could pull it off. I will be logging out shortly to don my Don Cossack Santa suit but I’m already getting in the spirit. We went to our favorite diner for breakfast and I snitched one of his Rolling Rocks to have with me hash and eggs. This year is more bars possible than ever before but roughly 7 miles from beginning to end. I have my bus pass ready (nothing like a bus or subway full of intoxicated Christmas characters) and am hiding sensible shoes under my gaiters. Several co-irkers are planning to attend; I have tried to talk the one young lady into dressing as Ralphie but I don’t know if she will.
For those reading this who are new to the concept of Santarchy be sure to read the official rules - especially the Four F’s
Not enough for around here; even our mice have gone seriously urban/ghetto.
Awakened at a rude hour by those blasted Siamese cats wanting their breakfast.
Feeling much better today. No wretching tummy woes.
Ate and washed my hair.
Yorkie Grace is limping. She often has a knee that pops out. I felt around under all that blame hair. And looked at her toe nails. Nothing. She’s not whining or otherwise acting like she’s in pain. Wait and see.
It’s Mr.Wrekkers birthday. Son-of-a-wrek is having a catfish fry this evening, for him. I’m gonna make chocolate pies. I think 3 will be enough. DIL has a cake, as well. Should be a fun time. He requested no presents. But, of course all three kids called me wanting to know what to get him. :smack:
The lil’wrekker got him a box of his cigars. She said she felt so naughty going in the Tobacco store and buying something. She got carded, which thorougly amused her.
House is clean. Animals are fed and napping.
Quiet. Love it.
Mrs. L.A. bought a 60" Vizio TV a couple/few years ago. It’s had a problem for months. The image is ‘cloudy’. That is, given a screen with a uniformly shaded background, such as text-on-background, the background that should be uniform as light and dark areas in a cloud-like pattern. I understand this is fixable, but what a pain! Since Mrs. L.A. hasn’t said what she wants for Christmas, I suggested we get a new TV. I picked out a 65" Sony 4K UHD smart TV. We should have it by the 17th. I think I can afford $179/month for the next five months.
Of course that leaves the issue of the old TV. We don’t have anywhere to put it. I could stick it in the canopy tent ‘storage unit’, I suppose.
Do you have a workshop or workout room? It might work well in there. Otherwise, maybe donate it? Beck one of my little cats has started limping off and on. I’ll catch her and check her paw and joints, and nothing. Other than irritated cat. She doesn’t seem to be in pain, she just limps.
I just got a text message about a tornado-warned storm. It’s east of here, but come on! California has enough stuff going on. Can’t the tornadoes stay out?
My sister and kids are supposed to come over and help me with the house today. Last time they didn’t arrive until 4, so I’m not holding my breath. I’ll take it if it comes.
Happy Saturday everyone!
Johnny LA, maybe you posted a link before and I missed it, but I’d love that Fish Florentine recipe if it’s not a romantic secret between you and the Mrs…
I’m going to try a long walk today now that the joints have unstiffened somewhat.
Trying to decide whether or not to put up the Christmas tree this weekend. If it turns out to be just me this Christmas–which has happened before, and I’ve come to appreciate it–do I want to go through the trouble?
Or I could wrap presents, though I haven’t finished shopping yet. Do you wrap 'em as you buy 'em or do one big wrap session?
Daughter, Roxy, and I are going to Flat Iron Farm tonight. **FCD **isn’t interested. Roxy should love all the lights and the critters. We’ll all eat at Salsa’s before.
Laundry is finally done - I kinda forgot about the last load in the dryer since I didn’t set the alarm. The critter fountain was cleaned earlier. I haven’t gotten out the vacuum cleaner, tho. Maybe tomorrow.
