Help me plan an exit strategy in the MMP

Keep us posted Sunny-girl.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and mostly cloudy for the day. Where I am headed this mornin’ it’s 39 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 73 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We shall take off at seven forty-five this a. of m. and arrive around elevenish. I am lookin’ forward to this round of CDI (Church Development Institute). Plus also, the food is always very good.

I shan’t be postin’ the rest of the day and tomorrow. Y’all behave. Well, at least don’t get so rowdy that the cops show up.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public and in the presence of other Whiskypalians attire.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Firday!

It’s a cold 30, feels like 25, degrees outside. Supposed to get up to 52 and be cloudy all day.

I don’t know what I am doing today, probably crashing from all the stress of the last couple of days.

Have a safe and nice trip Swampy.

I blame you** FCM** for my earworm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw

MetalMouse - one of my biggest worries is what my son is going to do when I’m gone. I have visions of him sitting alone in this house, working an online job, ordering in pizza, and only going outside to mow the lawn. Fifty years after I am gone everything in the house will be exactly the same except for a thick layer of dust.

Beck and Nellie, my son is very shy, to the point of being almost crippled by it. The last time he had to talk to his advisor he almost threw up from nerves. So I took over for him. He has taken all online classes, but he did manage to participate in the two group projects, so that’s a start.
He has to take one class at the college in the spring, so he’s going to have to get over it.

Hope your doctor figures out what is going on Sunny.

Afternoon all.

I’m  skiving class  this afternoon. It’s the first one I’ve actually missed, and I feel very naughty.

Basically, I need to head to Wales to visit a business as part of a module (we were allowed to pick our own, they didn’t pick one a stupid distance away, I did), and I really am not up for a multiple hour drive starting after 5pm. There’s a hyuge timetable gap today with one class end of the day, and I’d already done the major thing we had planned for the session so…

I don’t actually have to be there til Sunday morning, but it was either a 5+ hour drive tomorrow, or go halfway today to stay at friends’, then a relaxed Saturday where I could stop off at fun places on the way tomorrow.

Almost everyone else skives at least one class a week, and I’ve not seen some of 'em in months, so I shouldn’t feel bad, but…

TGIF!

First order of business today was getting FCD’s car to the shop for service. We’ll be taking it to FL, and it’s good to have it looked over just in case. Daughter just left for work and Roxy and SIL are still sleeping. SIL’s work hours are 2PM-11PM or something like that. It’s great for him since he’s a night person, but he hardly gets to see Roxy. At least he’s now got a steady job. Here’s hoping it lasts.

I need to push a vacuum cleaner around today, and if the timing is right, I’ll take Roxy to have lunch with her mom. It mostly depends on when she wakes up and when she naps. I’ll be glad after I’m done working and she can get on a more or less regular schedule. Just 3 more early rises.

Her mini-tramp was delivered yesterday. I’m tempted to assemble it for her now - she doesn’t understand Christmas and there’s no way we’re dragging it down to Ocala with us just so she can open it. She’ll get a pre-Christmas on the 15th - my sister is having a party for the family since we’ll be gone. Fortunately, this is the sister who lives near BWI, so it’s just a 90-ish minute drive instead of 2+ hours.

And on that cheery note, Happy Firday! :stuck_out_tongue:

I went past it again, clearly has AGES on it.

Knowing weather in two places today does not make up for not getting tomorrow’s weather. However shall we survive?
::reports to fainting couch::

At first I thought the V was a typo for P, but seeing it twice we here on this side of the pond can only assume it was intentional & that you attend class in your undies. No wonder you feel naughty.

I knew a midget woman of questionable morals once but not her.
I didn’t believe it was possible but there *may * just be people crazier than Ruble.

Vhat? Vhat? You’re taking a skydiving class? Vhat, are you crazy in the head?

Nut have fun!
It’s very foggy here today. I’m having trouble seeing the neighbors’ far fences. We’re not talking acres, so it’s pretty socked in.
In a few minutes, I’ll head out to take 'Beamer to school. Other big plans on the docket are pet sitting for my parents, who are headed out of town. My daughter’s birthday is tomorrow, so we’ll have something informal to celebrate that. We’re trying for a party with friends sometime after the New Year begins.
Happy Friday!

Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane?

Sari- I’m crippled by alot of issues, shyness being one. I’m sorry he’s dealing with this. It makes for a difficult life. He’s going to school that is a big deal. I’m hoping he succeeds. Gently pushing him to do more will help.
It’s a hard thing. Good-luck

Emergency weather report from Jawja: 'Tis 61°F and partly NOS, with an expected low in the middle forties and a slight chance of overnight rain.

It’s a nice day for a light sweater. It’s a nice day for a cardiga-an!

Christmas feels like an afterthought at Chez Matata this year. I think it’s because I’m not frantically juggling schedules to get kids to 100 rehearsals and four stage performances of holiday programs, and trying to sort out four different classroom parties and PTO noshes for teachers. Seriously, this year is just ONE elementary school musicale (requiring only a piece of felt and a headband for costuming,) and send a dozen muffins to a classroom party. Littlest Miss’ teacher just asked for a $4 contribution for party supplies, plus permission to watch a Christmas movie. I’m very down with that approach!

As for my metal detecting supplies, I have my garden trowels and plenty of knee pads (I’d have forgotten those!) And a couple of machetes. Also have my big grass-cutting/hard-working/farting-around hat. (I’m a redhead, raised by grannies who worried about my complection, so gardening hats are my jam.)

Probably need to hit up my brother for some old BDU/ACU britches. He’s a retired quartermaster, so it’s likely he has some. My son stole my old BDU pants, but it’s okay - those fit me 20 years ago. And I stole them from my college roommate, so… Circle of life or something. (College roomie used to jump out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose!);But fire ants are a serious thing around here, so pants that can be tied at the ankle are an important thing, to prevent critters from crawling up to… regions. No one wants to see me strip nekkid when those little bastards send up the “let’s all bite” signal.

My biggest dilemma right now is to manage my arthritic big toe. Gotta learn to use my off foot to bear weight when I kneel down. That will be a learning curve.

Thanks for the “leaverit” terminology. That makes me think I should start my exploration on the west side of the woods. There’s a 30-year-old highway on the east border, so probably a lot of debris that would be discouraging. But, when my old friend cleared our homesite, he made a short track into the woods, so I can start there and branch out.

To me, skiving is a technique for making leather thinner, using a tool called a skiving knife.

Guess it’s a somewhere else-ism for skipping class?

Afternoon all. Stayed in bed late and got a slow start to the day, so just now checking in. Rained last night but it has moved on and should make it to 55F today. Have consumed the early meal (Fettuchini) and will probably have a snack later on.

Only thing on the schedule is helping set up the gym for indoor soccer (Futsal) this evening. Tomorrow I’ll be busy with the soccer from 9am-5pm, but it’s indoors and I can sit down when I want to, so there is that.

I have a large number of VHS tapes of…interesting…content that I don’t want to dump so I’m spending some money and recycling them via GreenDisk.com. Will help clean out part of the house before the Great House Redo (part 2) in February.

Nut, at least one of us has some culture here, so I knew exactly what you were talking about…:wink: And I was the same way in college; hated to miss a class even when half of the class was delinquent most of the time.

Have a good and safe trip swampy.

Everyone else have a good Firday and remember the weekend is almost upon us.

Sarri, I’m so sorry your son is afflicted. I’ve known painfully shy people, but this sounds much worse and even more limiting. Thank heavens he’s got a parent who’s patient and understanding. Was he able to attend school, or did you have to homeschool him? What are his post-graduate plans? I’m wishing him the best.

I’ve been chuckling my way through this thread today.

OK, I’m going to have to mail this huge, heavy Insta Pot. (What was I thinking?) But the box says “Insta Pot” on it, and that’d spoil the surprise. I doubt I could find a bigger box, and the postage is already going to be insanely expensive. What if I opened both ends of the box, carefully sliced down one of the corners, turned it inside out, and taped the bejeebers out of it with mailing tape? Would that get it there safely?

Then I have to figure out how to get it TO a mailing facility. Nobody comes here to pick it up because I live on the second floor.

Well, I’m glad Metalmouse speaks English, even if the rest of you don’t :stuck_out_tongue: Didn’t realise that bit of terminology had stayed this side of the pond… One can skive work or class incidentally, it’s not limited to academia.

As it happens, the class I missed was on the importance of Botanical gardens, and skipping it will allow me to call in at the Botanical Gardens of Wales tomorrow, as I’ll be driving right past there. Kinda satisfying.

SIL is off to work. Roxy is napping. Daughter is home. I took **FCD **to pick up his car, then ran to Food Lion. He went to get the car washed.

Supper will be sloppy joes.

Yep, an exciting day hereabouts.

Nellie another option might be to wrap it in brown paper (a cut up paper bag would work). I see that kind of thing mailed all the time. Do you have a cart or something you could use to wheel it over?

Been doing extra shifts and will be doing more; basically because I’m having fun again. But — tomorrow is Santarchy so I am resting tonight and probably won’t take anything for Sunday. Going by past experience (I have survived 13 out of 14 past Santarchys only missing one because the OW was seriously ill – and I still had a plan in case she got better fast) I may need the whole day to recover and detox.

And then next week Doc Liz will draw blood, liver function will be off, and she will redraw two weeks later. My life is predictable like that.

Still not over my bug from earlier in the week. I have well over 24 hours before I have to be functional or be anywhere in particular, so I intend to spend a good chunk of that Nyquiled out. DH is making good progress in recovering, so hopefully we’ll soon know when he’ll be working again. The Princess is her usual bratty self.

Mrs. L.A. asked what’s for dinner tonight. I said, ‘Well, we have a bag of spinach, and the rest of that red bell pepper we need to use. I could make fish…’ Her eyes lit up and she said, ‘You mean with that sauce?’ Yep. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any tilapia in the freezer. I thought I’d bought some. I may have left it in the freezer at work. So I went and got some fish and some chardonnay.

Fish Florentine tonight.
