Annie: The Lost threads could use you about now.
And the **24 **threads.
Having just seen the episode, allow me to add GRRARAH spittle ARARAHGH SO MUCH RAGE
Errr…over what, exactly?
#1) Daphne. I liked her, but she wasn’t introduced in season 1 and like all characters not introduced in season 1 she apparently must die.
#2) The disconnect between the last scene of the last episode and the first scene of this one. So the hunter guy sees a stuffed rabbit lying on his desk and…ignores it, puts away his groceries, and starts shaving, 'cause that’s what anyone does just after they’ve come home with a bag of groceries. Then Sylar, who evidently got into the apartment without setting off the alarm, gets bored, magically causes puppet guy to appear and then strings him up…it’s the same living room that he left the stuffed rabbit in, so it’s not like puppet guy was strung up there before…and then Sylar sets off the alarm on the way out. 'Cause Sylar’s all about (a) helping the government hunters, (b) not bothering to take really creepy powers from other powered people when he apparently has the chance, even when he apparently hunted them down in the first place, and (c) not taking credit for his own creepiness.
…
I get that the new/old writer wanted to yank the storylines in a different direction, but that transition just made no sense at all.
#3) Tracy. Hey, this time the woman isn’t in a refrigerator, she is the refrigerator!
The bits with Angela were good, but that’s about all I enjoyed.
I just assumed it was the next morning; he comes home at night to find the rabbit, the next morning he’s shaving and Sylar drops off Puppetmaster. I mean, who shaves at night? So I guess I didn’t get the disconnect that you did.
Nor did I. It was pretty evident that time had passed.
FWIW, it did seem rather jarring to me too. I assumed (always dangerous!) that Sylar was leaving the bunny as a bit of a conversation starter with Danko, otherwise why stick around to wait for him to come home? Seems a lot of trouble to go to.
But is seems like that was in fact the case. Seems a lot of risk just to see the look on his face. (It seems they didn’t meet if only because Danko was so puzzled by the later ‘present’ of the Puppetmaster. (He guesses it comes from Bennet, after all)
I’m also slightly puzzled by how come Sylar has found out about all about who Danko is and where he lives anyway. Peter knew because he got the info from Bennet’s head via Matt - how does Sylar know?
I don’t think Sylar dropped off puppetMaster - that was likely the work of Nathan. Sylar was more likely ‘surprised’ by Danko’s early return home, and just found a way to sneak out, since he was mostly wanting to ‘scare’ Danko to make the hunt more fun.
Cliffhangers for cliffhanger sake piss me the hell off - especially when, like this one, they have no real meaning/bearing on the following episode.
Sylar captured a laptop. You know how much stupid stuff gets left on government laptops. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sylar has Danko’s credit card numbers now, or at least the SSNs and home addresses of every single agent.
How do you get Nathan from that? If anyone could capture the Puppet Man, it would be Sylar, or Sylar’s dad with the hypnotic whistling. Or maybe Noah, if he gets the drop on him, but Nathan isn’t an action type.
I get Nathan due to the flying ability and the “this is a bad guy that really should be locked up, plus he threatend my daughter” - I see that as much more likely than Sylar - as good as Noah is, I think Danko would hear him stumbling around, and Noah wouldnt need to give Danko a ‘gift’.
Could be the invisible dude - fact is we don’t know - but it is unlikely to be sylar (my main point).
ETA - Nathan “needs” to get back in Danko’s good graces - he’s the only char we have (at the moment) that “needs” to give Danko a gift.
Nathan can fly, so he would be unlikely to use the front door. I also think that Nathan is smart enough to know that Danko would not care whether Nathan gave him a gift. Nathan tried to send him up the river; I don’t think 100 gifts would help Nathan in Danko’s eyes.
Sylar doesn’t need to give Danko a gift either. I do think Sylar sees a fellow hunter in Danko. But really, only Sylar knows what he’s up to now. I’m thinking Sylar is wanting to get to those tasty snacks in Building 26’s Human Resources[sup]1[/sup] room, and he knows he need Danko to get in there.
[1] Human Resources - that cracks me up.
This is where my habit of trying to ignore Sylar scenes in past episodes comes back to bite me - I had totally fogotten about that laptop. The prosecution withdraws her assertion and agrees that Heroes now makes complete and total sense. Carry on!
 You’re right!
Can’t mock, don’t care. Stopped watching after President weedypants and First Lady Jean Smart. Started rooting for the terrorists for a few episodes after that, then gave up.
That boy just doesn’t give himself enough credit. He’s bright, resourceful, and has that laptop full of floorplans. But he does need an evil father figure…
BTW-surprising someone’s no fun when you can’t see the look on their face when they get the surprise-so Sylar hides in the hall for the big bunny reveal/WTF?, then scoots out the back door (BTW Danko, great apartment, with two entry doors. They sure don’t make 'em like that anymore). Danko, probably understanding the symbolism of a small dead timid creature, scours the apartment looking for dead thing deliverymen; finds none. Drops back to yellow alert, hits the hay; wakes up, finds Doyle all trussed up. Sylar’s got some mechanical aptitude, he could probably thwart the security system. He’s like a preschooler who wants someone to oooh and aaah over every bit of his macaroni art. Always wants approval-tried to become Angela’s ideal son, then Arthur’s. Maybe for once someone nice will want to adopt him:D
It’s a shame after all that trouble and possibly waiting for hours and hours he chooses to lurk somewhere where he only gets to see the back of Danko’s head as he reacts. Maybe he was hoping Danko would say “GAHH! a dead bunny!! Who could possibly be so clever and cool as to be able to break into my apartment? Gosh, I bet he’s really cool, whoever he is. I wish we could meet so I could tell him how awesome he is and then we could be friends”
I think the fact that Sylar was waiting in the room was merely the writers going “Even though he just had the whole bunny scene, we don’t think the audience will realize that Sylar left the bunny unless we show him there waiting.”
Danko hits the polka bars after work. That’s how he rolls.
Tragic, huh?
Consults Lonely Planet: DC…
Seconded.
I thought it was pretty obvious that Sylar is toying with Danko. He’s trying to fuck with the guy’s head. First he leaves a rabbit – a prey animal, stuffed for display. Then he leaves a Super – a bigger “prey animal,” trussed and hung up on display.
Danko’s not scared yet, but he knows he’s being messed with. Note that he didn’t tell Noah where PuppetMaster actually came from. He just claimed the credit for himself. Explaining it might get complicated.
The big questions is – who’s the next “prey animal”? Has to be bigger than the last one. The last one, though… there’s no bigger prey than taking down the hunter.
I don’t think he’s seeking Danko’s approval. It’s pretty clear that being chased by government guys with guns really cramps his style (and leads to laptop theft). Plus it’s easier to grab Supers and play with their brains if they’re out walking the streets instead of unconscious in a heavily-guarded internment camp.
