Heroes 10/16 "Come Together"

One thing I noted is that they’re not following the program schedule with time passing in the show. Hiro left on October 2 and November 6 is when New York goes away. So if they’re following the TV schedule then it should be in three weeks, not five. On the other hand, Hiro may be bending time again since he was missing for two days and surely some time has passed since he showed up in Tokyo again so four weeks should be a lot more accurate now…

Good episode. The show is getting better. Aside from the occasional goofy dialogue, I’m really enjoying it.

I love Hiro and Andro. Unfortunately I have a feeling that Andro won’t be around too long.

See, when I first heard it, I thought he said “scarf”. For a few minutes there I thought Project Runway had taken over the future.

I loved the “Rainman” moment with Hiro and Ando on the escalator in identical grey suits.

I guess Claire has an unlimited supply of those cheerleader outfits. She’s ruined at least one running into a burning building, and lost the one she was wearing on bonfire night, yet she never wears anything else to school.

Maybe they are actually part of her body, and she regenerates them.

Seems like Constiporter frequently does his thing on a subway train. I wonder how many subway trains they can work into the show?

That was effin hilarious!

Okay, am I the only one who noticed that flying congressman has a scar on his face? Lower left lip/chin area and possibly along the curve of his jaw?

I think dopplebanger did him to save Niki. And the bad guys wanted her to do it so they can control him when he becomes congressman.

I am glad I can come here and see everyone’s take on this show cause otherwise I’d be all like

Wasn’t there a shot of a camera in a sprinkler during that scene? I think she was meeting her obligation and getting off the hook for the money, why else would the Dopplebanger step in? She only seems to take over when things get serious and when she is needed (even though it seems she’s priming Nikki to take a more active role).

even better, how creepy is it that he’s okay with it?

I’d like to point out that Niki is an internet stripper, which is a lot different from being a “ho.” Micah is a smart kid, and made a good point that her job in the garage is safe, and basically make-believe.

Okay, jumping in for a bit with a couple of observations–

  1. Hiro and Ando have won enough (or can win enough) at the tables to bankroll the super-team (not to mention ensure Captain Congressman’s election). They just need to be a little more careful with how they do it – like not swapping cards at a poker table.

  2. I think Future-Hiro chose Peter precisely because Peter could mimic the power (and, interestingly, Peter doesn’t have to touch the “source” in order to mimic). Peter’s the only one that would also be unaffected by the stop-time ability.

  3. Weird, off the wall thought: What if EvilDad is also Lindeman? We haven’t (that I remember) seen Lindeman’s face, just his goons and his assistant, after all.

  4. Captain Congressman seems to have some extra speed built into his flight power – he took off awfully fast.

  5. Peter told Mohinder that he can “see” other supers (first we’ve heard of it, but it makes sense). When he “sees” the other supers, how much does Peter learn of their powers? I mean, if he mimics a bad guy, will Peter understand the bad guy’s weaknesses? Can he then tell his teammates how to stop the bad guy?

Okay, that’s enough for now.

This episode eliminated much of the cheese and corny dialogue that I had criticized from the first few shows. I am optimistic now that this show can become more BSG than a genre castoff.

I must admit to levdrakon that even the Murse was bearable this episode. Maybe he just needed to get laid…

  • Anyone else put off by the reveals in the recaps? They are almost necessary viewing because they make conclusive statements that were not made clear in the previous episodes.

  • Another timeline complaint- how was the dad in LA mindraping the cop and then at breakfast the next morning? So, he came home in the middle of the night and then was leaving that day. Odd.

  • I agree that it is odd to have done an autopsy before the body had been identified, but I must say that Odessa isn’t really THAT small of a town. The Midland-Odessa "metro"plex is a moderately decent size community. Childhood home of George W. Bush…

  • I loved the Rainman scene. Cracked me up. But even better was the Spiderman Rational for cheating. “He sells pictures of himself…” Ironic given the downside of Spidey’s origin story.

  • Ali Larter in black underwear is almost as hot as Ali Larter in a whipped cream bikini. Incidentally, the whipped cream bikini was in a movie where Ali Larter plays a cheerleader for a football team based on Friday Night Lights (which takes place in the Midland-Odessa area).

  • The QB rapist did run away. My guess, supported by his behavior and comments in the car, is that he realized he needed to do something and came back to try to cover up his involvement.

  • Last week, someone said that following the rule of comic books Hiro might be toast. I think the main rule of television trumps the rules of comic books: never kill off popular characters who attract viewers! Cool scene at the end.

Which brings up the question - What exactly is considered “fast” for unassisted human flight?

Yeah, that bugged me, too. Even a little more exposition there on the attitude change might have helped.

I think if you travel so fast a chalky white line follows you around the earth and the entire planet starts rotating backwards, that’s probably in the range of fast.

Yes, I’m sure the kids on the playground would be careful to note that distinction.

There’s no reason to believe that Peter is immune to Hiro’s powers. It’s just as plausible that future-Hiro is able to selectively apply the time-freeze.

Wait, what? When did he say that?

We have no evidence that Telepa-cop was being held in the LA area. He could have been transported anywhere.

We also know that parts of the story are being told out of time. The New York events could be days or weeks off from the Texas events, although they did synch New York and Vegas last night.

same guy - whose english not only improved (given that he said he’s from the future, that could be explained) - but he has a different voice - looping, perhaps?

When Peter first arrived at Mohinder’s apartment – when he was explaining why he was there. I’m at work and can’t watch it again on the web, but he said he could see supers and he could imitate what they do.

I don’t recall anything about Peter saying he could see other supers.
