The specific words weren’t that important as long as you got the gist. Papa Sulu wanted Hiro to come back to work, Hiro didn’t want to, Hiro convinced Papa Sulu to promote Kimiko the sister instead.
Apparently the criminal justice system in the Heroes universe is dramatically different from ours. There’s tons of witnesses and on camera evidence of Nikki assaulting police officers since she’s been in custody. You don’t get a free pass on breaking the law just because you’re in jail. Even if Linderman was somehow able to make the DA drop the charges on an easy and obvious case like hers she should remain in jail for a while. And no psychologist would let her loose on the streets after her evaluation.
Hey, did anyone happen to catch the license plate on that car?
Ok, so the switching of Claire’s age is starting to bug me. Last week, she was almost 16. On the NBC Heroes myspace page, it says she’s 17. Then tonight her mom said she was captain of the cheerleading team by the time she was a junior. If she’s a junior she’d most likely be 16 or 17, unless she had a birthday really early in the school year before the cutoff date that is usually by September 1 (just guessing for Texas, that’s been my experience). Something stupid to spend time being bothered by, but sloppy mistakes and inconsistencies bother me.
I was shocked that I actually liked the Nikki/Jessica storyline tonight, at least at the end. Interesting that Jessica can so easily fake being Nikki, when we haven’t seen that before.
I thought the episode moved quickly except the parts with Hiro and his father. I understand the need for the scenes (people had to start wondering where he was and what was going on with him) but they didn’t do a whole lot for me.
Really looking forward to next week with Nathan finding out about Claire.
Did we get to see Mr Bennet’s first name on his licence?
The license actually didn’t have his first name on it. Instead of Lastname, Firstname, and then address like any normal drivers license, it just said Bennett, and then the address (which is 1 Juniper Lane, Odessa, Texas if anyone’s interested).
No.
Did anyone notice that Zach’s Exit Strategy was a… Nissan…
So, I liked how we failed to find out Mr. Bennet’s name. It’s pretty clear he has no powers, though, now.
Mmm… manatee.
You’re probably right, but to be fair, it doesn’t explicitly rule it out. He could have a power that wouldn’t have helped him in that situation. If it were Nathan or Isaac for instance, they would have both been vulnerable and escape would’ve proven just as difficult.
But I’m with you. Also, if he did have powers, he’d have to keep them hidden all the time, lest he be found out by whatever organization he’s working for.
I think you might be on the wrong board if you don’t know that. I’m calling the question on your geekhood.
I noticed that in the preview for next week, someone called Hiro “Sulu.” HAH! I love this show! I love George Takei as Hiro’s dad. It’s great to see him on tv again.
Okay, Nathan it is!
Jessica is seriously strong. And there is obviously something going on other than multiple personality there - Jessica left her “reflection” behind, and Niki was indeed shaking the mirror.
Nooooo! Nathan can’t be!
Okay, so did Nathan escape the fire when Claire was a child too? Or he’d already left? Has Nathan known about super powers this whole time? I thought he only discovered his power a year or two ago, the night his wife was injured. How come Claire’s bio-mom had to spend all this time running but Nathan got to go back and live a high-profile life in NY? Does AED know he had Claire’s bio-dad (briefly) in his clutches?
Well it makes sense why Nathan is so down on the super thing. He thinks he lost a daughter because of them and then couldn’t save his wife from the car accident.
Peter’s revelation was very satisfying. He keeps powers permanently. He is the anti-Sylar. If they don’t give us a Peter/Sylar showdown I’ll be really disappointed.
Okay, Niki. I’m just not buying that she and Jessica are physically two people. How? The mirror moving is just a mistake. Of course I was wrong about Nathan too.
"It’s so funny how all y’all call him Mr. Bennet over there. To me he’s always been STOP THAT YOU! Bwahaha.
And invisible guy has had dealings with Ambiguously Evil Dad and Haitian. They thought he was dead. Interestinger and interestinger. Oh, and Isaac working for AED. What’s up with that? Last I saw Eden gave him the keys to escape that place. What did I miss?
I wonder who Sylar’s daddy will turn out to be?
I seriously doubt Nathan was anywhere near the accident. Claire’s mom said something like “you probably don’t remember me” so im guessing she was another one night stand like nikky/jessica. More Sylar powers! i liked that thing he did with his hand to turn the lights on and off in his cell, and how did he get away from the house? super speed or teleportation? Once again he took a bullet, and while they didn’t show in what state he was in there didn’t seem to be any blood where he landed either.
Let’s see. Further notes: Zach’s rainbow suspenders were a bit Morkish. Hiro is progressing along his path, actually doing heroic things rather than worrying about them. This, after the exploding car, is one of the first times he’s done something really heroic, and the first time he did it at a personal cost, that is, he didn’t take the easy way.
Well, now we know why Peter is da bomb. And why so many people in range of a empathic mimic is a bad bad thing.
Some people are going to die, real soon now. I say two Heroes down by end of season.
Why does Linderman want Nikki out of jail? (Why isn’t the Smirk dead?)
Mr. Bennet is in a really bad place. But he’s made his choice. His daughter comes first. Claire doesn’t understand how much he loves her. “He dies!” And he’s going to be hurt by her more, shortly.
Sylar had a wingnut in his head. I like that. I also like how he was able to get along with Mrs. Bennet by totally grokking the doggie. (You all saw that look, right?)
Hm. And Hiro did not have the sword drawn when facing the dinosaur. The continued showing of the painting suggests that… well, some people call it Chekov’s pistol, I always liked calling it Sulu’s Phaser. “The showing of a McGuffin in the first act demands it be used in the third act.”
My random thoughts on various points:
I don’t think the timing is an issue. The fire was 14 years ago, the baby was 18 months old at the time (IIRC), so that puts Claire at 16-ish. “Fourteen years ago” could mean “fourteen years and ten months,” for instance.
However, it does imply that there was a rash of powers appearing in people around 14 - 18 years ago. I wonder if Claire’s mother accidentally started the fire, not able to control it? But that makes Claire the daughter of two power-holders, like Nikki’s kid wossname. The Invisible Man was one of that earlier group, and Mr Bennett and his organization were around then, too.
Nathan was clearly a biological father, but not married to Claire’s mom. He had left because he wasn’t there (except for romance and sex.)
On the painting showing Hiro with sword: the parintings have not been 100% accurate, they’re cartoon-like. And they’ve often shown things that come to pass, but not quite in the way we the audience think. Like Hiro with sword vs dinosaur, like the dead cheerleader. Do we have any example of a painting that hasn’t come true? Because if Isaac is always accurate, there’s gonna be a helluva twist to explain the paintings of nuclear devastation of New York… assuming that the heroes do save NY, of course.
My wild guess was that Hiro would teleport the bomb-person back in time to Hiroshima, so that the paintings would be true (city being destroyed by bomb) but it wouldn’t be modern-day NYC. However, the picture of the devastation seen from the rooftop clearly kills that way out.
If Claire is 16 she could certainly be a junior in high school. My birthday is in April so for most of my junior year I was 16. She could also have skipped a grade and they just never bothered to mention it. I’m not concerned about the age issue.
I am concerned that people keep insisting on spelling Niki’s name with two Ks.
Hey! Edjumakate me here. How did AED get out of the cell just in time to rescue PomMom?? And how did Issac come to be in cahoots with AED? Color me purple —>
We don’t know exactly how he got out of the cell. I’m fine with assuming that the Haitian or someone else came in to check on Sylar and found him there.
As for Isaac and AED being “in cahoots,” recall that as far as Isaac knows AED is the guy who’s doing everything he can to save his daughter. Isaac doesn’t know about all the other stuff that’s going on, and it was through the actions of AED and Eden that Isaac learned how to access his power without drugs. There’s no reason to think that Isaac wouldn’t keep in touch with AED.
I don’t remember how Jessica was supposed to have died. Was it a situation where a body was recovered? Her power is definitely taking over other peoples bodies. At some point she will take over someone besides Niki.
I like the fact that Claude already has a history with AED and apparently a reason to stay anonymous. Given his talk about learning to control the powers, I assume he can become visible if he wants to.
Not to nitpick (but since no one else will)…
Simone made reference to the pigeons saying something to the effect of “I have no idea how they got up here,” which is a somewhat sly nod to the fact that the good Doctor’s invisible. But in reality, if you saw pigeon cages on a roof, what would you think? Well, pigeons can fly and someone you don’t know in your 30 story apartment complex probably brought up a few coops to keep them. Not too unreasonable.
So Claire’s real mom has access to the private line of a Senatorial candidate? I suppose he’s just kept the same phone number for the last 14 years, which Claire’s mom kept tacked up to a bulletin board near her hope chest.
Does Nathan actually do any campaigning? Six months ago he hadn’t even considered running and now it’s 2-3 weeks away from the elections and he’s busy chasing his brother across the city/country.
While I have no objection to George Takai being on the show, that story arc by itself was largely irrelevant…for now. I’m withholding full judgment until I see more episodes and can determine how this new information might fit into the larger story. But Hiro’s arc last night did nothing to further his quest. Indeed, it just slowed it down.
Oh and hey! Did anyone else notice Takai’s license plate?
Weird, I guess I’m the only one.
Nathan is running for the House of Representatives.
