Heroes Season 3 Finale 4/27/09

The first time Nathlar nicks himself shaving and watches himself heal he’s gonna start wondering what’s up.

We already saw the clock thing. What other unconscious abilities did Sylar have that will resurface?
Uhh…Mom…have I always been able to carve the roast with my finger?

Exactly. I think they shuffled Clair’s Magic Blood and Parkman’s Future Painting into the dustbin of bad ideas.

I rather enjoyed the finale. They wrapped up some loose ends, and left a nice cliff-hanger.

Now - we have three potential conflicts set up for Volume 5.

[ol]
[li]Not-Nathan. Sylar is gonna be pissed when he’s touched enough of Angela’s stuff to realize who he isn’t. I suspect he’ll try to fly, and do a massive face-plant.[/li][li]Peter now has Sylar’s powers, I bet he’ll have the hunger, too.[/li][li]Crazy Alice is out there, too.[/li][/ol]

Peter only took one power from Sylar – shape shifting. When he needle jabbed Sylar, he said something like, “Guess you didn’t think I took that one.”

Second that annoyance. It is pretty insulting to the actor, audience and indeed fans of the character of Sylar that they suddenly threw that in there right at the end.

You’re right.

I missed one. Danko is still out there, too. He no longer has his private army, but he is still a formidable foe.

See - this is when Natlar should have an accident (flew into the engine of a 747) and die a ‘hero’ - he only needed to live long enough to calm things down, not one minute longer.

Also, they showed Sylar ‘floating’ in the window, so he clearly has the flying power now.

HRG was well dead and cold when Claire’s blood brought him back, but I really hope they leave Nathan dead - the guy could frack up walking an old lady across the street.

(Did anyone else catch Nathans blink when Angela was reacting to his death? - Watch the scene where she goes to close his eyes - the right one blinks)

Matt should be the one with the nosebleeds and the “dont do that again” - at least Hiro’s stopping time allows for some pretty cool effects and comedy.

Oh yeah - Claire - when you’re going to challenge the guy with the gun, you don’t give him a headshot - you give him a heart shot (distracts him multiple ways).

I am very disappointed with this episode, it’s full of holes:

  1. Sylar could have easily killed or somehow incapacitated both Natham and Peter with only a though, instead, we get a fight, what fight, we didn’t see anything.

  2. Peter picks up Sylar’s power, which one, why not all of them.

  3. Peter then takes the place of the president, where and how, how did he get past the secret service, how did he control this new power that he never experienced before, even Sylar had trouble adjusting to it and now Peter does it in a matter of minutes as if he’s done it all his life, and, what did he do with the real president.

  4. Again, how did he get around the secret service after dealing with Sylar.

5. As mentioned above, how did they get the dead Natham to look like Sylar.

It feels to me as if they crammed a whole episode in the last 10 minutes of this one, very poorly done in my mind.

These people are so stupid!

I enjoyed the episode, but come on. Do they really think that Parkman’s trick is going to work long term? Now they can live happily ever after? Gah!

Peter can currently only hold on to one power at a time; he chose to absorb Sylar’s shape-shifting ability.

As mentioned above, they didn’t; that was the original shape-shifter, whom Sylar killed.

No argument there.

And we’re not nitpicking; once you’ve established that the blood of one of the main characters can not only heal, but bring somebody back to life, it’s ridiculously stupid to just ignore that. Noah wasn’t just dead, but shot through the eye; Nate only had his throat cut. (And again, what an utterly miserable death, bleeding out while his worst enemy laughs; knowing that he’s failed and probably everybody he cares about is going to be murdered.)

Yeah, there were a lot of holes but for me the big one was Claire and Peter running out of the room to go find Nathan and Sylar when all they had to do was run to the window and look out. I mean, how long was it going to take them to get outside and then what were they going to do?

All that screaming? I’m surprised he didn’t get knocked out of the chair

He got them in season 1, wouldn’t be crazy. But now I feel sorry for Hiro. He may be a semi infantile dork, but he doesn’t deserve a brain bleed

Agreed. They spend enough time having Sylar nail people to walls all year, throw some guys around, huh?

I think he got all of them-Claire asked him if he got them all, and he nodded. I think, gotta watch this again later.

Don’t overthink the cool reveal! I was wondering if the president was blind or crosseyed, myself.

Nathan dying on the season finale has become this shows “they killed kenny!”.

Outside of conflict and ratings and all that - I don’t understand at all what the Petrelles (sp?) were thinking in ‘reprogramming’ Sylar into Nathan.

Why not just have Peter act like Nathan?

Peter can only have one power at a time now, sure, but why not destroy Sylar once and for all? No one is going to miss Peter. He’s not in the public eye at all.

That wasn’t dead Nathan, that was dead ‘original shape shifter’ guy. He was in deep cold storage.

For some reason…

Just when I thought they might be getting back on track with Fuller returning, they crap out this turd. Virtually everything about this episode was laughable, from Mohinder’s ridiculous monologue at the beginning to the total illogic of how the Petrellis handled Nathan’s death. At this point the only value left for me is to watch it like MST3K or make up some drinking game for it. The closest thing to “worthwhile” was an amatuerish CG shot of virtual water Ali Larter’s butt.

I watched the finale this morning; last night I was at a friend’s house introducing him to Supernatural. I’m glad I didn’t watch the Heroes finale immediately after getting home; it would have been like eating a nice lobster dinner and then all of a sudden getting teabagged by a mountain goat.

What gets me is why, in the heat of battle, Peter would choose to take Sylar’s shapeshifting ability over say telekinesis or anything useful in battle?

If there was good writing involved, I might think that Peter knew he wouldn’t be able to beat Sylar in a full-on battle, so the real plan was to take the President’s shape to trap Sylar after the battle; the fight was just a way to get close enough to Sylar to take his shapeshifting power.

But since this episode was apparently written by mentally impaired Ewoks, I’d say that it more likely was the result of a really big bong hit the night before the script was due.

They brought Ali Larter back… again? I swear the writers are just trying to screw with me, personally. The first time, okay. A tease. But then they killed her again and it was like, ‘Okay, they learned their lesson.’ Christ. That super smart red haired waitress form a few seasons back did more in two episodes than Nikki or whateverhernameis did during the entire season.

The very question I posed to myself after seeing it.

And I guess Mama Petrelli is OK with Sythan bonding with Claire, handling Nathan’s kids, screwing Nathan’s wife, etc etc. Just creepy all the way around.

Whoa - don’t remember that at all.

It sounded to me like Peter said he got all of Sylar’s powers. And Sylar was definitely flying, with not explanation as to how he got that power.

In a way, Sythan is basic a clone of Nathan now. He’s got the same DNA, and all the same memories. For all intents and purposes, he is Nathan. That will definitely be a main plot point, along with setting up the new company.
