I don’t think Hillary Clinton is divisive at all; I think people who believe she’s divisive are easily divided. I’m so sick of hearing how awful she is/was. She’s one of the smartest, most qualified candidates and people in this country are so goddamn fucking thick that they fell for a con artist.
Yes I’m still bitter about it. And I’m not going to stop being bitter.
But putting people with lengthy and relevant experience and all the contacts in the right places into the most senior leadership position … nah, you’re right, that’s anathema now too.
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken
There’s a huge portion of the electorate that would crawl naked over broken glass to vote against Hillary Clinton. That wouldn’t be insurmountable if she inspired the opposite as well. She has WAY too much baggage and had no coherent message last time.
So if she had conducted the entire campaign from New York, you figure that wouldn’t have made any difference? You visit and have rallies to fire up your voters and get them out. You do it to build loyalty and enthusiasm in local campaign workers. Winning an election takes more than a carefully crafted policy platform, as exhibited by current reality.
Voted for Hillary because of Trump, but she was a bad choice for the Dem. party.
I know you have not asked, but Elizabeth Warren is also a bad choice. They should, this time, go with Joe Biden, Beto, or possibly Bernie Sanders. I think Beto is the best choice in terms of being able to win.
How I would have voted based on other Repub. that ran:
Cruz: Still Hillary for me.
Carson: Still Hillary for me
Jeb Bush: I would have probably voted Jeb Bush.
Kasich: 50/50
Christie: Still Hillary for me
Marco Rubio: Probably Rubio, but I may have regretted it seeing him now. Still, he would have had my vote I bet.
Walker: Still Hillary for me
But cue the wailing about “he’s too old”, since apparently it’s way more important to have a younger candidate lose to Trump than getting trump out. Pair Biden with a young minority progressive Veep.
I voted no… but what I wouldn’t give to watch Trump’s face as he realizes he’s getting defeated by Crooked Hil in a landslide.
But come to think of it…
Because there were shenanigans in the Texas elections, if you voted the Straight Dem ticket, your vote went to Cruz, not Beto. Texas knew about this for years but refused to do anything about it.
And a Presidential vote will be Beto vs Trump not Beto vs one of their own, Cruz.
I’ve said in other threads that Beto is a decent VP choice but I don’t see him being Cheney to Biden’s Bush. Beto is a good choice for VP because he’s proven himself a great campaigner and fundraiser, not because he’s any kind of Svengali.
