Hillary for the Democratic nomination

I am trying to figure out what is meant here…:confused:

I think that is a misrepresentation of the poll machine problems in Texas. I never saw a reputable source say that only happened to Dem straight ticket votes.

Okay, let’s try a different approach: What is the *significance *of that fact?

I’m confused about your post, too.

She should run as a Republican.

She lost to Donald Trump. That should be immediately disqualifying for any future attempts to run for anything.

It’s not that smart people don’t make mistakes. They just don’t keeping making the same mistakes over and over again.

Why yes, you’re right. if you voted straight GOP, your vote for Cruz simply wasnt counted. It did not go to beto.

Do you see how critical the difference is?

garygnu There’s a huge portion of the electorate that would crawl naked over broken glass to vote against Hillary Clinton

Yes, something less than half the voters would vote vs Hillary.

Ok. lets look at the breakdown:

People who voted for Hillary- are there any of us who would vote for Trump instead of Hillary in 2020? I dont know of any. Gain- even.

Progressives and Independents, who stayed home or voted third party. They voted third party for two reasons “Clinton is just as bad as Trump!”* or “Clinton is gonna win anyway, so I might as well cast a protest vote.”. I think we all now realize that Clinton couldnt possibly be as bad as the trumpster fire. And, those who went for the protest vote are hopefully kicking themselves in the ass. Gain- Clinton.

Trump voters: His base is solid as a rock. But he did lie to many otherwise democratic voters in the rust belt, giving them their fantasy that they’d get their crappy factory jobs back. I think a few will figure out they were lied to- slight gain for Clinton.

Overall- if Hillary ran again, she’d win. But I will admit- only vs the trumpster fire. That being said, I’d prefer Biden, who’d be a shoe in. Not that I am excited about him, but he’s the only one we KNOW would win.

  • Kremlin fake news and the Comey memo were part of that and we now know that the Comey memo found nada. Hopefully we will all be a little smarter about spotting Kremlin propagandists, and Facebook has put some checks in place.

Something less than half the electorate would crawl over broken glass to vote against Clinton. But given that crawling over broken glass isn’t a requirement for the franchise, the number who would actually vote against her is larger.

And even O’Rourke couldn’t deliver Texas. He already ran statewide against Cruz, and lost. Trump is more popular in Texas than Cruz is. He might force the Republicans to pour more money into Texas than they’d like, and he might swing some other states that are closer than Texas, and those are both not nothing. But winning Texas, this cycle at least, is a pipe dream.

Ok, cite? All the non-partisan reports I saw was that your vote could get messed up when you voted straight ticket and did something while flipping through the rest of the ballot, not that Cruz kept getting selected for you.

But yes, one was Cruz to beto, I sit corrected:
The Texas Civil Rights Project reported receiving about a half-dozen complaints, the Texas Chronicle reported. Of them, most were straight-ticket votes for Democratic candidates that appeared in error for Cruz. One was a Republican straight-ticket ballot that tabulated for O’Rourke.

So what do you think these half dozen(approx.) complaints translates into as far as the general electorate numbers?

Who knows? There’s no way of looking into it as the GOP has blocked any effort to do so.

I won’t!

It’s important to say that. Maybe we should have been more firmly Never-Clinton in the primaries. When so much of your coalition says “No, thanks!” to your candidacy, take a hint.

So, you are saying you would vote 3rd party in 2020 if Hillary should somehow get the Dem nomination? Didn’t you do this in 2016?

Anyway, how can she win if she loses the primary, which is virtually guaranteed? I don’t think she has a chance in hell and, I’m sure, others are telling her to stay out. I imagine it will play out something like this:

"Hey, Barack? Hills… no, Bill is fine, I have a question for you… Can you release a statement supporting me in 2020?

Barack? Barack? I think we have a bad connection… let me call you back."
<later>
“Michelle? Oh, I thought I was calling Barack’s phone…”
“Girl, we need to talk…”

2016 was a unique primary. I’m not going to get into another Bernie bashing but he wasn’t seen as a viable alternative by many. In a normal primary, there would have been Hillary as a favorite but there would have been more candidates. Those awful 2010 and 2014 midterm defeats really left the Democrats with a pretty weak bench. 2012 saw some Democratic wins, but a lot of the senate seats were lucky wins and candidates like Joe Donnelly or Heidi Heidkampt weren’t going to run. Biden choosing not to run really hurt the field as well.

The DNC would be better off drafting Michelle Obama or Oprah than Hillary Clinton. She lost against Donald Trump! Saying she’s a horrible candidate and I say that as someone who voted for her 3 times.

Ok, but- if it was a choice between her and 4 more years of the trumpster Fire, which would you pick?

Is there anyone here who voted for Hillary that would vote for Trump?

Is there anyone here that didn’t vote for Hillary but would if that was your only choice vs Trump?

Look, I hope she doesn’t run either. But her vs trump- no question.

Hillary, Joe, Bernie all had their chance and were never able to close. I see Elizabeth the same way. Not to be ageist (and I’m pushing 60 by the way), but I don’t think America really wants another President in their 70’s. Sure, they may be the most experienced and prepared person in the room, but I can about getting elected versus who has an impressive resume. And if one of these actually make it to the general election, I sure hope they don’t pick a Veep candidate like what’shisfacethatnooneremembersthenameofthatbroughtzerototheticket.

That said, I would vote for a small soap dish vs trump.
