A lovely philosophical argument that unfortunately has absolutely no basis in reality on the ground. The popular vote actually trumps absolutely nothing in real life and that is not likely to change in the coming decades.
In 2016, I broke with my principles and voted for Hillary in a misguided ‘lesser of two evils’ decision. I really shouldn’t have gone back on my post-Iraq decision to not vote for any presidential candidate who supported that war (and yes, voting to authorize the war counts as support for the war) and voted for some third party, but I held my nose for her. Not only did we still get stuck with a president, but the number of misguided ‘lesser of two evils’ votes from suckers like me convinced a lot of people that she’s a viable candidate, and there’s talk like this of her running again.
Exactly! And that is why she should shut up and get out of public view, while the Dems get on with the business of finding some poor mope with a modicum of spine, charisma and ideas. Apart from Obama, apparently an impossible task.
No, the democrats need to put up an anti-war candidate, not their most hawkish. I expect that from the republicans. All the flag waving crap from the dems last time made me almost ill.
I am looking for fresh face. I don’t want Biden or Hillary. I want either Warren, Cuomo or Beto O’Rourke. We need a candidate who will take on Trump. Even though Biden can shred him to pieces.

Lol. Poll results are hilarious. Easy to tell who the R’s are.
Wow! Yeah, I just looked at that. The “Yes” vote is pretty much a rogues’ gallery of The Usual Suspects here.
She’s not running, so there’s no reason to make a big deal about it.
But, no, she shouldn’t run. She lost for being establishment before, and people still don’t like the establishment. She has her own baggage that, in a perfect world, shouldn’t hurt her, but it does in this one. And she’d be the easiest to push a “loser” narrative on, which then becomes reality in the political world.
Of course, if she somehow won the primaries, I’d have to vote for her, since not voting against Trump is morally abhorrent. But she won’t, because she’s not running.
I did vote for Clinton and think she would have been a great president but she lost in large part due to picking a largely unknown guy for VP. Had she picked Sanders as her VP she would be sitting in the White House right now and we wouldn’t be shamed by Trump every time he opens his mouth.
However, she has not indicated in any way that she would run again given the chance. Forget her and go with someone else. Cuomo would be great as would O’Rourke but Cuomo has the experience.
Hell no.
I don’t care if she could beat Trump this time around. (Given the way the mid-terms went, I think any half-credible Democrat will beat him.) I just can’t stomach the idea of a 2016 redux. I’ve been voting since 1984, and that was the most sickening year I can remember by a factor of 10.
From what I heard, Sanders wouldnt accept the #2 spot.
Yes, I immediately thought of Stevenson when I saw this poll. From the Wikipedia article – Adlai Stevenson II - Wikipedia – it doesn’t seem that there was much pushback in 1956 among Democrats – not many said “you lost to Ike (badly, nothing at all like Hillary’s popular-vote win) four years ago, WHY would you be the nominee again?”. Interesting.
In '56, Dems had no chance at the WH, so why not run Adlai again? Who else would bother?
In 2020, they have a good chance of taking it, so the competition will be much fiercer, unlike '56. And I don’t think HRC will win, even if she does run - too many Dems are sore at her for losing in the first place, and she’ll never win those votes.
I think she would win, but I also hope she doesnt run.
She might win the general, if she got that far, because she got close last time, and I think the tide is turning against Trump.
But she’ll never get that far.
Hillary Clinton is meeting with possible 2020 Democrats
That’s not generally the behavior of someone planning their own campaign.
I really want a new fresh face. We want to unseat Donald Trump! It is going to take a vibrant and strong person to fight him and his treasure trove of numerous lies.

I voted for Hillary, because I think it would be hilarious.
Yeah, so Biden/Beto all the way! Er…
hell no.
Those were different times, and Ike was actually a good president who sensible Democrats could and did vote for without having to hold their noses. In those circumstances it made sense for rising stars like JFK at the time to have not run and to instead stick with the same nominee.
This time is different, and being able to beat Trump is the top quality we need in the nominee. Clinton has already demonstrated she doesn’t have that quality, so IMHO it’s a resounding NO on her running again.
ETA. If Clinton is even thinking about it, someone should show her this thread.
