Hillary just lost the election.

I don’t think so, because nothing about Hillary’s health, good or bad, would make Donald Trump a capable president. I’d personally vote for Hillary over Trump if she was a blood-sucking revenant back from the dead.

I reluctantly agree with those who say that, for now, Clinton has a very slight lead and she could well maintain this advantage going into the final days of the campaign. I don’t see Trump jumping out to a 5 or 10 point advantage. The realistic danger is that he begins to have a slight 2-3 point lead in a place like Florida and Ohio, and then draws within 1-2 points in other states. In my mind, a 1-2 deficit for Trump means Hillary will need to pray that she gets out her vote on election day, because Trump is going to get out his.

The post originally in this spot belonged in the pit and would have derailed this oh-so important bed-wetting session, so never mind.

Was this intentional irony?

Well, that’s it, the facts are undeniable. There is no God, and He hates America.

As a Clinton supporter, this couldn’t have happened at a worst time. I’m going to have to stuff earbuds in my ears during work tomorrow as I know my coworker who spends his entire workday scouring right wing websites for the Hillary Outrage of the Minute is going to be like a sugared up kid on Christmas morning tomorrow.

However, this story does knock the ‘half of Trump’s supporters are racists’ story right out of the news. There is also a good chance Trump will push the story too far and make outrageous sexist claims that will backfire on him.

At the worst, I think this will just cause more people to stay home. With Johnson’s Aleppo gaffe and Stein committing vandalism, people who aren’t enthusiastic about Trump and are worried about Clinton may just tune out politics and start planning Taco Tuesday for Election Day.

You mean the one who is barely even bothering to put any effort at all into GOTV?

Like If me and many are not aware of that already. The point I make, and it has been done many times, is that Trump has in my estimation reached already all the ones that want to be fooled and the ones that would be smarter but still fooled.

It will remain close, but then again in the past election by this time Romney did manage to get in regular ties with Obama in the aggregates, Clinton is right now 3-4 points ahead in the aggregates.

When I look at the aggregate of polls it is clear that Trump struggles constantly to keep just at the 41% level. He then goes many times lower than that. While Clinton constantly hits 45% and has gone to 49% + on a few occasions.

I won $100 off my boss’s brother who was convinced Romney would beat Obama.

This video looks like *Weekend at Hillary’s *. I think she was nearly out on her feet and leaning against that gray post and walking made her pass out.

That video is pretty bad. This is no mere “stumble”, as if she tripped over a crack in the pavement or something. She is leaning against the post and has someone holding her up tightly at the shoulder, and when the car arrives, she looks like she can’t even stand. She doesn’t take a single step - if you watch her feet, it seems like she was literally just dragged into the car.

“Overheating” is a weak explanation. They are in downtown NYC on September morning, not the Sahara desert, and you don’t see anyone else in the video nearly collapsing.

I think Hillary would be a better president than Trump even if she spent her entire term on life support in a hospital bed, but this video definitely suggests that there is something unusually wrong with her besides just being 68 years old. I hope they manage to come up with a more convincing explanation.

It was much worse when Janet Reno collapsed during a speech, she did not managed then to unseat Jeb Bush (and that should tell you how wrong it is to accept the talking point that fainting always points to something more terrible than the real explanation.)

Anyhow, Janet Reno is still alive and was still active in 2013 at 76 years of age. Jeb Bush showed that he was a joke all along.

I doubt this is going to result in more than a minor blip in the polling, if that, but I’m starting to have more respect for the Trump campaign. I didn’t think they really had a strategy besides “let’s throw a lot of random shit at the wall and see if any of it sticks” when they started talking incessantly about Hillary’s mysterious seizure disorder / dementia / lingering concussion / cough / Victorian Novel Wasting Disease, but it’s actually sort of brilliant. The odds are pretty good that a 68-year-old engaged in a months-long, grueling campaign with cameras constantly on her is going to show some sort of visible moment of weakness at some point, and when it does happen, a) the Trump campaign looks prescient; and b) people start thinking maybe all the OTHER random shit they’ve been throwing at the wall has some validity to it as well.

I’m gonna support the OP here…I’m not sure if she’ll lose the election over this, but she will lose 1% of her voters. And she only has a 3-4 % lead right now.

One more episode like this will doom her–and for legitimate reasons.

Undecided voters can feel confused by politics, the details of economic policy or the complexities of the middle east. The average person has no real experience with this kind of stuff.
But everybody has personal experience attending a memorial service or a formal event.
And everybody knows that you just don’t faint…you just don’t.

This isn’t like when President Bush vomited in Japan–again, everybody has experience with stomach bugs, and so they all knew it wasn’t serious, and there was nothing Bush could have done: when you gotta puke, you gotta puke. Then you stop, and it’s all over.

But a 70 year old fainting is not a casual, one-time,do-it-get-over-it medical condition.* It can easily be a sign of additional problems…The weather wasn’t unusually hot, there were 10’s of thousands of people who did NOT faint. And this wasn’t at minor event… This was at ground zero , on the most sacred spot and the most sacred day in recent American history

The image of her being too weak to stand by herself is going to be seared into the minds of millions of people. For an undecided voter, it could easily be the trigger to deciding against her. My gut says 1% , but if it is 2 or 2.5%,then yeah…she could lose the election over this.

*suppose it was your grandmother who fainted–wouldn’t you insist on taking her for thorough medical tests?

I actually do think that Trump has some smarts indeed, but I think this issue has a lot of projection form his part. Point being that I do think that Trump does know that he has issues and he has to toss a lot to Clinton so his followers wil not mind when his issues do come up.

Trump refusing to release a proper medical report, and not the one made in a very controversial way tells me that this is what is going on, not much a respectuful inducing item IMHO.

It was 80 degrees and extremely muggy in NYC this morning according to reports I’ve read. It wouldn’t be unusual for someone in such circumstances to feel overheated I would think.

She appeared just before noon and greeted people on the street. Said she felt fine. She looked fine to me from pics.

Doesn’t seem much of a story now. The only story is how the Trump people will make it into a story.

Link to Politico story.

Here we go…

I think you are forgetting about what happened to Bush the lesser, indeed one should be concerned when he fainted…

Thanks to a pretzel…

The controversy had legs then because if the testimony was accurate Bush was lucky as he was almost alone. But what counted was how he behaved later and he showed how silly it was to worry about one episode of fainting. Of course many on the other side still wonder if it was the pretzel the one that deserved the blame.

This looks very bad. She was clearly going down if people weren’t there to hold her up.

I would prefer a sick Hillary as President than a healthy Trump but I’m sure she will lose votes over this.

It’s not the end of the story. Not by any means. I do think the Trump camp would do well to underplay this though. Let the pictures speak for themselves.

If the American people were as stupid as dire worry-warts fear, we would never have elected Obama in the first place.

Which is what I thought. I “supported” Hillary over Obama back in those days because I could not convince myself that Obama could win, that the objection to his complexion would not permit that.

Bad thing about being a pessimist is you are usually right. But when you are wrong, its fucking great!
