So how do you know that she stepped in? What evidence do you have that’s more than rumors? And who is putting out these rumors? I can’t even find them.
I can’t wait to see DSeid attempt to explain this one away.
Heat stroke smeat stroke.
Here is what really happened.
HillaryRodamClinton@Hillarysbasementandwinecellar
Dear Hillary.
Know you have been looking for those missing emails about Yoga classes and that cheeze wiz caviar recipe I had sent you awhile back.
Good news. I finally found them!
Also sending them to my bestest friend Trumpypoo, as I had heard your Blackberries keep getting broken. He said he would get them to his Secret Service people and they would rush them over to yours.
Best Wishes!
Putin (on the Ritz…the recipe that is…hah!)
The real issue is that people can explain away this incident i.e. it was hot and muggy, but the set up is there if this happens once or twice more. What will happen if Hillary misses an interview due to feeling ill or has to take a day of rest. Pubs will harken back to today and say, “I told you so.”
Everyone is a fucking pundit these days. All we can talk about is how an imagined swing voter will interpret political events, but not how we interpret them. It’s weird. And most of us have no ability to empathize with the kind of person who could be undecided about electing Donald Trump to be President, so it’s all just pointless naval gazing.
Hillary fainted. Two hours later she was fine. Heat exhaustion is a perfectly plausible explanation. Maybe it’s something else. She should show more of her medical records.
I remember it in my history books in high school. Wilson especially was shielded by his wife. Pretty much cut off from his staff. Decisions still got made. Back then the press didn’t have instant access like they do today.
Here’s an abstract of an article on Eisenhower and how his health effected his Presidency. Anyone know how to get the full article? I’d love to read it. I’d even pay to get it.
Can you expand on this Kaine and his brother thing? I can’t find a single thing about it online.
I’m trying to convince myself that this won’t matter in the long run, but I can’t shake the sinking feeling that this is exactly the kind of stupid “Dukakis in the tank” moment that the Right is so good at seizing upon. The bullshit reality is that Hillary is being graded on an absurd curve by the media and in the court of public opinion, and stuff like this that should barely matter is almost guaranteed to be blown way out of proportion.
Trump needs to start making some more huge mistakes again, and fast.
She should release full medical records—and relentlessly call for Trump to release his.
Trump has some serious issues that he’s getting a pass on explaining. For example, it’s been known for months that Trump compulsively returns to New York from any and all campaign stops and rallies so that he can sleep in his own bed. The many hours wasted on theses trips back and forth is obviously time that Trump’s campaign staff would like to see used more productively–but apparently Trump can’t sleep in any bed other than the one he’s used to. That is not normal.
Yet this isn’t being discussed, much. Back in January the topic came up in relation to Trump’s primary chances:
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-idUSKBN0UM17220160108
Of course he did win that primary, despite the weirdness of flying back and forth so much instead of campaigning. But the weirdness deserves scrutiny.
We need to see Trump’s full medical records. Clinton must release her own, then renew calls to see Trump’s.
You mean like when Trump cancelled events with no explanations 2 weeks ago?
It suggests nothing of the sort. Have you ever suffered from heat exhaustion? I have, and it can be completely debilitating. You don’t realize that you’ve overdone it until it hits you like a sack of cement. Legs don’t function, profuse sweating, nausea, dizziness; not fun at all, and I’m surprised she lasted 90 minutes. As mentioned, it was 80s and humid. People handle the heat differently. I’m a complete wuss at 80 degrees, whereas my daughter happily lounges in the 90s.
Melania is waiting for Trump in that bed.
I’d rush home too. EVERY night. Get my daily exercise.
I agree. Both candidates need to fully disclose health records. Put this issue to rest.
Joke about Kaine and Abel
My guess would be dehydration. She’s probably got some level of incontinence issues and avoided drinking in order to avoid frequent, entourage-complicated, “bad-optics” pee breaks.
Your observations are, as usual, sparkling and on point, with an abundance of nuance and analytical rigor. I’m glad that you’re here to make sure that we’re not blinded by all the partisan hackery.
I guess you just had to do that! And I was having such a good time!
So, OK, a challenge. Both of them, onstage, live, ten minutes on the treadmill, lift a few weights, ten minutes on the rowing machine. Then the news will be all atwitter about the gala opening of Trump Tomb.
Shit, Trump can’t even walk downstairs, he needs an escalator to go down!
I hate hot weather - the optimal temperature for me is about 50 degrees with a breeze - but I’ve never had to be dragged across the pavement into a car as a result of standing outside for 90 minutes. What is suggestive is the fact that she appears to be the only one at the event who suffered any kind of issue.
Wilson sure. Mamie Eisenhower? Never heard it. Don’t believe it.
I’ve suffered heat exhaustion. Went out for a short walk and forgot my water bottle, came to some time later face down in my front yard with little recollection of how I got there.
I was 26 and had recently passed a rigorous health exam. It’s easy to dehydrate, and once you are dehydrated the heat can sneak up on you very quickly.
