This is probably going to be an issue leading into the first debate, and I don’t see how this issue doesn’t get raised at least once. More than that, as I said in a previous post, Trump has a way of getting distracted and throwing water on the grease fire. Tonight, for instance, he started blithering away about how Hillary should go without secret service protection and that he wondered what would happen to her without protection, essentially stoking the electorate with suggestions of violence. He has a habit of acting surprised when people call him out on bullshit and then saying something outrageous out of frustration, which just garners even more negative attention. His campaign had managed to steer him away from controversy but Trump finally reappeared as Trump again.
I would say he only gained in the polls because he shut up for a week or two. If he gets blabbing about that sort of stuff again he’ll go back to his August numbers.

I just don’t see what’s hard about sticking to the script. He’s got reasonably competent handlers, he just needs to listen to them for a measly 50 days.
Look at his hair. Do you think he listens to anyone?
He’s like the dictators who dress like idiots because no one dares tell them how bad they look.
And that also goes for his sons Gordon and Gekko.
When was the last time you gave up speaking your mind for 50 days?
Has anyone told him to cut it out with the creepy comments about his daughter? That shit is giving me the heebie-jeebies.
Do that with your friends and family, or anonymously on a chat board. I don’t call a press conference when I have an opinion.
Are you an ego driven uber-narcissist? If not, I don’t think it’s the same thing.
But it seems he did. You can’t prove causality in poll fluctuations or 100% disambiguate Clinton ‘convention bounce’ from Trump’s stumbles but he was doing worst in the post primary phase not long after the Khan thing.
Trouble is, from pro-C/anti-T POV, he does seem to be mainly listening to advisers telling him to knock off with starting irrelevant controversies like Khan and Curiel ones. And that from pure political view was the worst aspect. When it’s matter of actually speaking his mind in a somewhat relevant way, eg. ‘tough talk’ about illegal immigrants some find ‘racist’ (as opposed to criticizing a ‘Mexican’ judge because he isn’t rolling over for Trump in a personal case) your point has more merit, subject to defining ‘racism’.
But that’s always the rub using the accusation of ‘racism’ as a weapon in politics. If Trump picks up a point or so in national popular and squeaks out 270 (or a win in the House: all Romney states + OH, FL, NV, IA, and NH=269, not so far fetched) then his ‘racism’ didn’t cost him, or the key margin wasn’t ‘racism’, but kind of irrelevant at that point, no?
Calling out ‘racist’ is still an effective way to energize some Democratic constituencies. OTOH a lot of voters, call them all ‘racists’ also if you like, have at least some feeling that the left uses that accusation when it can’t win an argument otherwise. That’s a risk for Clinton herself at least to be constantly saying it.
The story is either that he caved, or that his handlers ‘made him’ pretend to cave. Either version does damage to his ‘Alpha Male Who Is Never Wrong’ appeal for those who crave the authoritarian father-who-will-take-care-of-them.
He hasn’t had reason or opportunity to do so lately. When it does happen, if he still keeps his mouth shut, then we’ll talk.
So would you agree that she’s lost if she collapses during the debates?
And what about if she comes on stage dressed in a bikini?
Or if a decades-old sex tape of her and Alan Greenspan suddenly comes to light?
Or if she announces that the income tax rate will be raised to 80% for all people earning under $60,000?
Do you know when i will agree that she has lost the election? When the election is over, and a different candidate receives the requisite 270 electoral college votes. If that comes to pass, i will clearly and unequivocally announce that she has lost the election, if it will make you happy.
All three???
OK, what if he bails out claiming that the debates are rigged? You gonna buy it?
The way Trump’s luck is going, he could bail and be seen as a hero for doing it. It’s unbelievable how he can step in so much shit and get so many passes.
The idea behind this thread is that Clinton lost by collapsing after leaving early from a 9/11 event. Some claim that wasn’t enough, I’m asking if it happens a second time during a nationally televised debate do you think she can survive that.
I think it’s pretty obvious that if she collapsed onstage during a nationally broadcast debate, it would be very bad for her campaign. And it’s not remotely akin to the odds of her wearing a bikini since “Frequently — well, not frequently, rarely, on more than one occasion, over the last many, many years, the same sort of thing’s happened to her when she got severely dehydrated, and she’s worked like a demon”. I am sure, however, that she will be well hydrated for the debates.
