Holiday baking in the MMP

Last night it was 5F when I got to the barn. I didn’t ride since I’m still on the DL, but she got groomed and treats and fussed over. After I was done, I stood in the parking lot having a cig, enjoy the cold, no wind, clear night, peace of the country, and the almost full moon. I didn’t want to go home!

I’m making fudge and cheesecake bars for Christmas. I’m scared that I will eat the fudge if I make it before Christmas Day. I’m a no nuts in fudge person, but my sister likes nuts in everything. Maybe I’ll put walnuts on top of part of the fudge. Cuz I love my sister.

Drae and doggie I clean up because it feels good. FWIW I am in pajama pants, a tshirt and socks as I post. No :eek:Wally*World:eek: today.

Midget good music and cookies? What more could one ever want!

I have been ironin’ shirts again. A chore worth doin’ on a dreary day I suppose.

It’s a miracle, emily! The blind guy saw you. Anyway, it sounds like you had a good time.

swampy, some of my earliest memories of my mom was standing at the ironing board, ironing clothes and watching her stories on TV.

It’s been a productive day thus far. In one week, I’ll likely be within three hours of my dad’s house.

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!

Our Configuration Manager asked me for a .pdf of a drawing that’s in work but not close to done. It’s the model from hell and it took forever to come up. And I accidentally hit the button and closed it! DAMMIT!!!

So I’m waiting (AGAIN!!!) for it to open. So I can make a prelim .pdf for the customer. DAMMIT!!!

Other than that, it’s been a good afternoon. DAMMIT!!!

I noticed something that might be a white spot on the back of my throat earlier. Came home from irk early, made tea, still have to get up and take the teabag out and drink the tea. :smack:

BigKitty feel better!

Snowing here. The kids are excited but disappointed that it started snowing too late for school to get cancelled.

I am making attempt 2 (or 3?) to remove Halloween purple from my hair. We’ll see how it goes. All bleached up and waiting with my hair under plastic. Hopefully no more purple or green or blue.

When my Dad was alive, he made microwave fudge every year, it was his specialty. We haven’t made it in a couple of years, because we’re all trying to lose weight. I was looking for recipes for diabetic fudge the other day, but couldn’t find anything that didn’t call either for graham crackers or cream cheese/sour cream.

No crackers, cream cheese or sour cream here: Chocolate Fudge (Sugar Free) | Diabetes Daily Forums

If you just want reduced sugar, have a look at this version that uses Splenda and marshmallows. I’m assuming the marshmallows are there for their gelatin so the fudge can be well, fudge, rather than sauce. https://www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/131106/sensibly-delicious-fudge/

Chili/onion/cheese/slaw dawgs for dindin. Fart fest to follow. Hope I’m over that in time for Evening Prayer over to the church house especially since I agreed to be the non-cannibal kind of Lector tonight.

Holy crap, this has been a long day. I’ve still got ten minutes to go, and it feels like I’ve been here for days. This time of year is pretty slow, but today was worse than usual.

I once ate a foot long chili dog with onions in the Student Union, with the hope that I would die and not have to take an Elecrtonics II final exam.

My bro finally came thru and told me what he’d like me to bring for Christmas dinner. A Greek salad. Time to google Greek Salad because I have no idea what it involves. He couldn’t have just asked for deviled eggs… :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it appears Greek Salad is something I’d never eat - it’s got peppers, olives, and raw onions, none of which I like. Other variants have romaine, tomatoes, and cucumbers, which I do like. Maybe I’ll just do a platter of the assorted ingredients and let people build their own. The dressing sounds like a fairly basic vinaigrette.

Honestly, I can’t think of who in my family would eat this besides FCD. My mom never served us peppers or olives which is probably why I don’t eat them. I know she doesn’t like onions or cucumbers. One sister doesn’t eat salad anyway, so that’s not a big deal. I don’t know about the other 2. Methinks I’ll have to get back in touch with bro - I’m not going to shop for a bunch of stuff that no one will eat.

And I heard back from bro with his recipe - no peppers, and the olives are on the side. Yep, he and I were on the same wavelength. So that’s a relief. I’ll even make my own dressing rather than buying some.

Ho Ho Ho.

Yeah, I haven’t been around the MMP much to update you on my life in the last 3 years or so (a sad side effect of working in offices that had really limited internet access, and being super busy at home) …

The Princess (aka HRH) is now 9 (almost 10) and a force to be reckoned with. The one who’s sick is actually my baby girl, who’s 2 (3 next March). Unfortunately, she woke herself up coughing last night, which caused a diaphragmatic spasm and she puked everywhere on the bedroom floor - I just managed to drag her off the bed before the mess hit the deck. She seems fine this morning though - ate her toast and drank her water. We’ll see what the day brings.

FCM, I don’t like greek salad, because I hate tomato and cucumbers, but I’ve never heard of people putting peppers and onions in it before. Just lettuce, tomato, cucumber, feta and black olives.

swampy, I hope the fartfest was finished before prayers! :stuck_out_tongue: I love hotdogs with all the toppings! omnomnomnomnomnomnom

I realize that I forgot about Baker’s and **Swampy’s ** moms. I really do wish them the best, and Happy Birthday to Swampy’s Mom.
I was raised by wolves you know, and have no social skills.

It’s 34F and snowing here in our corner of Orygun. there’s about 1/2" of snow on the ground, so of course it’s a big deal.

I ran to the store this morning 'cause we were needing cheese and bread and some other basic stuffs, but, as usual I left my phone, with my list, on the charger. The store was packed with a lot of distracted people wandering about, so I grabbed what I could remember of my wants and needs and skedaddled out of there. I’m reasonably sure we’ll survive.

It’s bratwurst and steamed cabbage for dinner tonight, so no prep required at all.
Tomorrow I’ll probably make some more soup. I love soup.

Thanks very much for the recipe Baker. Unfortunately, since I’d probably be the only one eating it, it probably won’t happen. Now I’m wondering if the Thriftway on the corner has any of the Trappist fruitcakes. They often have odd things like that.
Do I want to go over there and look? There’s crazy people driving around out there. Or should I stay here and do laundry?
Decisions, decisions.

Doggio, No, that would be

HO LEE CRAP!.. is that an iceber…

The dishes are done (Thanks PB!) I put in 2 job aps today and did a followup on another one. The car is fixed and I only planned my brother’s demise once. Plus, I think we are having breakfast for dinner. So, a much better day than yesterday!
A good Wed Nes Day to you all!

Purple? Are you Sally Forth?

My dad used to make the best fudge, but he’d only do it on a day when the humidity was juuuuuuuust right. Considering we live in an unairconditioned house in the middle of North Carolina, that day was long in coming. He hasn’t made it since the early 90s and he never will again. :frowning:

I went to the Docinnabox and the strep test came back negative. They say I have That Bad Cold That’s Going Around. Either way I ain’t braving 17 degrees American to go to work tomorrow. I will be rolled up in my bed like a good little sickie.

I hope you’re feeling better soonest, big kitty.

Moooom, the Greek salads that I know and love are more along the lines of the one that dotty hates. It works well with a decent vingraitte or the dill yougurt dressing.

When I stopped at Tar-jay this afternoon, they were out of the cartridges to swap out for the SodaStream. That means that I’ll need to go to the 'Boro tomorrow.

Trash is out and bills are paid. All that’s left is to clean up from supper, call Texas Sis and play in the studio.

Moooom, I meant to tell you, I have a very good/easy recipe for greek dressing, if’n ya want it.

Biscuits are in the oven and gravy is made… apples shall be fried up next & I’ll do the eggs last…

PS Feel better soonest, Big Kitty!

Howdy Y’all! Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. 'Twas a good service as usual and I emitted no farts so all is good.
