Holy Fork It's Hot... How's the weather where you're at?

Temperatures are up there, it’s hot in Topeka.

I’m a hot toe-picker!

From the Death Valley morning report:

Ah, that’s nothing…still 11 degrees under the record.

Dallas, again.

We just finished the second wettest June on record, with over 11" of rain. It was the 11th wettest month on record as well. Of our thirty area lakes, all of which were below normal levels as of May, only two remain below normal levels, and that by -1 and -2 feet, and that’s only because water was purposefully drained from them to prevent upstream flooding. The remaining 28 lakes, two are at normal levels, and the rest range from a few feet above to thirty feet above normal.

It’s wet. It’s damn wet. Everybody’s lawn is overgrown, because we haven’t had any dry days to mow the darn things yet. I actually have both the time and money necessary to do a little gardening. I can’t. Hell, at least I don’t have kids out for the summer.

It’s 30 C (86 F) as of 11:00 am, and still rising. It’s the damn humidity, though, which kills. Today isn’t bad, but we start getting into the mid 90s with the high humidity then it’s bad.

All else being equal, I’ll take the rainy, relatively cool summer over the usual hot, dry oven style summers that we usually get.

My garden’s actually growing, the yard is green, and it’s not ungodly hot. What else could we ask for in July?

Just north of Tucson and 111 this afternoon according to my garden thermometer. Would someone tell the monsoons to hurry it the f*ck up? There’s thunder and lightning, gusts of hot wind that smell like electricity, but no rain yet. Thank Og for air conditioning and iced tea.

Someone told me today that in Death Valley or somewhere it was 128. My mind literally boggled. How is that even possible?

Yep, 'bout 107 today, but relief is in sight. The monsoons are coming! As long as I don’t have to drive in them, I’m glad to see them every year. Last summer I had to drive to work in terrible storms three times, which was weird because usually it only rains in the afternoons during the monsoon season. Hopefully the storms will only come this year late in the day after I’m safely at home.

It was 112 today - or at least it was in town. Out here in the sticks it’s usually a little warmer in the summer. Right now it’s a cool 99. And I have to bake a cake later - blargh.

52C? I have no concept of how hot that would be outside. Like opening the door and walking into your oven, I guess. I understand cold (square tires and avoiding moisture like the plague outside), but I have no concept of that kind of heat. We’re dying here at 30C (86F), which is extreme heat for us. We only get a couple of days a year that are over 30C. At least we normally have low humidity.

Tyeh! Bahrain checking in - we’re averaging daily highs in the mid-40’s (around 113F) with overnight lows around 30C (about 85F). Air-conditioned everything - at least it’s not too humid!

Worst I ever felt was 53C (127F) in Abu Dhabi once - yech!

You should move to the chilly climes of Doha - it’s only 111°F here

It’s overcast and cool here. It’s been raining more or less constantly (and heavily) for a month or more - wettest June since detailed records began, apparently.

In Vancouver it was nice today. About 24°C. They expect this to last the week.

Pissing down, windy and cold.

No change from all of June :frowning:

Chowder I so envy you! (I like windy and cold…)

Hot and muggy here, but not unusually so for July.

Fifteen effing C!

Whomever sent Spring at the wrong time, we want our summer back. Or at least I do, I haven’t been polling my neighbors.

Yup, same here. I mean, a glorious April is all well and good, but June and July so far have been downright miserable. Looking on the bright side , although up here in Scotland we’ve pretty much always got an excess of water, it may be helping counter the shortages people down south get.

Chilly and breezy here today, not a hint of sun and not even a patch of blue sky. I wonder what the Dutchmen do for trousers on days like this?

Typical central Virginia summer - hazy, hot, and humid. I’m loving life.

94 today, 96 tomorrow, 94 Sunday. Air is thick and sticky. I’m loving life.

Get up early tomorrow and cut some grass. I’ll be done by 10:00 a.m. or so. Grab a towel, cold drink, and lay by the pool.

I went out for a walk last night - at least intended to - when I realized it was 105 degrees at friggin 11pm.

And deserts are supposed to cool fast, aren’t they? Nothing that retains the heat very well. Since living here is not entirely dissimilar to living on the moon (I discovered a little park the other night with grass and trees and it was like I was back on planet earth briefly), you’d think the “dark side” would cool off a bit.
