Holy Fork It's Hot... How's the weather where you're at?

Weather is godawful here - was something like 109 yesterday…I kept running home from work to check on our kitty.

Supposed to get thunderstorms today, and I’m hoping and praying that we actually will…sky looks promising…

Southwestern Utah here - about 1 1/2 hours north of Vegas.

July 4th - 118F - a new record for the state of Utah! Broke the old record of 117F, set on July 5, 1985. I was here on that day, as well.

Yesterday - 115F

Today - forecast for 115F again.

Hot. So hot. I miss Montreal so damn much right now. Yeah, we hit 33C once in a while, but it’s not for weeks at a time. With crushing humidity.

Why do people live here? And how???

I should have posted:

118F = 48C

115F = 46C

Holy Snerkin’ Fitts!

We will?

The ten-day forecast I saw shows more of the same next week.

Our upcoming trip to Cedar City, UT, is looking less and less like a potential break from the heat…

Yesterday we had a shower that lasted all of five minutes, and it was hazy and humid and damp for the rest of the day. sigh, wrings out clothes

Today? 28 degrees (feels like 32), partly cloudy and clearing towards the evening. It should get up to 33 degrees by Sunday, and then cool down a bit…

FTR, the forecast was showing temps of ~106 yesterday afternoon for next week (106 is cooler than what it is now  ). Now it’s showing ~110 a few days. Oh well, it changes daily anyways. I use weather underground for my weather needs as I can’t stand the weather people on the news here.

Antigen, I hate to tell you, but that’s not that hot. Humidity does make that feel horrible, but try mid- to high- 90s F with anywhere from 70%-90+% humidity. Death just might be preferable!

I’m still waiting for summer to arrive. It’s supposed to be around 90 F for the next few days, and it was really humid for the last few days but that’s gone away for the moment. Having mostly lived in places where it gets punishingly hot and humid for months at a time, I’ve been in shock ever since summer has seemingly failed to arrive. I’m told that this is normal weather. I don’t think I buy it. I was wearing jeans earlier, running errands, and was perfectly comfortable. It’s the end of the world, I tell you!

I haaaaaaaate heat, it’s just that I expect it in July, and it ain’t here!

Only 94 down by the port. Probably a few degrees higher inland. It was supposed to be hotter today, but the port graph looks like it’s topping off.

Hot and shitty, with a chance of really pissy. It’s only in the low 90s, but there’s tons of humidity, so just standing outside for a few moments will have you drenched in sweat. Additionally, there’s never any wind, so the air just sits there and bakes you.

Yes, LVgeogeek, it is a tad warm, but would still rather put up with this than 85 degrees in Illinois with 75% humidity, mosquitoes, poison ivy and tornado warning sirens wailing in the distance.

Just go to the movies and watch Pirates of the Caribbean and Spiderman III - that oughta kill 7 hours of the day and you will be freezing by the time you come out of the theater and will enjoy the heat.

Calcutta, under 1 1/2 feet of water and it’s still coming down in buckets, but at least its hot and muggy too.

And the monsoon started today! Yay! And I didn’t have to drive in it! Ah, the sublime scent of creosote in the air, the dramatic cooling of the almost unbearable heat, the moisture that’s been so sorely lacking!

Happy dances all around!

I live in Vegas, too. I wanted to do some work outside today, but it was still baking at like 7:30.

No change from post 34.

Still raining/windy/cold just as it has been for all of this month and 90% of last. It’s getting on my tit :frowning:

Oh to be in England…

 …Well, at least you’ve got that going for you… :frowning:

Does the creosote there smell like cat pee when it rains? It does here.

It seemed that the humidity started to “crank up” here today. Right now at 1050 PM it is still 100 degrees and 12% humidity. yuck.

Today we had big poofy clouds forming. It’s the beginning of the “Why wont it just rain and quit taunting me” season.

Definitely not weather for walking around outside. We went down to this First Friday deal they do in the “arts district” tonight (a friend was having a gallery show). We walked around a bit to see the different stuff going on and I was sweating my face off. yuck.

I ended up rescheduling field work for today for sometime next week… No way I was going to be out hiking and mapping when it’s already 100F by 830 A.M.

Amen to that. [insert Nebraska for Illinois]

I don’t think it smells like cat pee, but tomorrow when it rains I will check.

Just eased up where I am–L.A. just over the border from Santa Monica.

We’re not using the AC for the first time in several nights.

I know all about your IL weather…getting off a plane at O’Hare it hits you like a fist as you walk through the jetway; then you reach the terminal and have some welcome relief for a few minutes till you hit the street.

I hate you… um, I mean I am so jealous  My sis lives in San Pedro and compains of the heat… I say it’s 70 degrees even w/ humidity that’s fantastic.

This describes getting off a plane at the airport in Houston, Texas in August.
