Thanks. I think.
He’s auditioning for a cabinet position when one becomes available.
Yes he can.
All Trump speeches are universally awful. “Best speech ever” is a low bar, especially “one of”. I think it’s very possible someone could make a case that many of Trump’s speeches are even worse than this one.
I’ve always thought he sounds more uninterested than disinterested.
Jesus Christ. Do you have a cite?
There’s a video of the leaders of Albania and Azerbaijan making fun of Trump for claiming he ended a war between them (he probably confused Armenia and Albania).
Best comment: “great, Trump will probably bomb Alabama in response to this.”
Mr. Trump has long expressed interest in the most notorious dictator of the past century, Adolf Hitler, whose Nazis also used that phrase. In a 1990 interview, Mr. Trump said he had a copy of Hitler’s “Mein Kampf,” although his first wife Ivana Trump and the friend who gave him the book said it was actually “My New Order,” a collection of Hitler speeches.

Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitler’s speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.
“Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?” I asked Trump.
Trump hesitated. “Who told you that?”
“I don’t remember,” I said.
“Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he’s a Jew.” (“I did give him a book about Hitler,” Marty Davis said. “But it was My New Order, Hitler’s speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I’m not Jewish.”)
You are correct! “Disinterested” means “impartial,” however it is a common mistake
He is the living embodiment of The Dunning-Kruger Effect. His picture should be next to its entry in the dictionary.
When I hear him rambling incoherently, it occurs to me that he thinks he is performing standup comedy.
Trump’s charisma is of the sort you might see in a good wrestling heel. He’s not a good orator by any means. But he is a good performer. He knows how to talk trash, how to push people’s buttons. The guy may be full of shit, but he knows his audience and he knows how to work them into a lather.
I get the reference, but sadly there have been way more than one, across Latin America, Asia and Africa, not just Europe.
It has never, even once, worked out well.
Trump seems to have read the playbook of an African dictator, and to have all the charisma of the same.
I was born in a country, Zimbabwe, where bullshitting had become truth, and reported in the (government) media, for all my life. But Robert Mugabe, an inveterate bullshitter had nothing on this man.
We were just sold lies about crop yields and the Gukuruhundi massacres, in standard Orwellian style.
Trump cannot be even be arsed to pretend he is not lying. When your country is run by a dictator - no, a bad, unprofessional dictator - you guys in the States might want to have a look at African and South American history.
I hope it does not come to that - hopefully your next Senate elections will make him a lame duck..
(it is somewhat good that Trump is a pathetic unprofessional wanna-be, but his arms and legs are strongly (bigly?) tied to his puppet masters)
Right on. Come now, people, he’s got some sort of twisted gift, otherwise we wouldn’t be where we are.
Thank you for the correction.
Back when Trevor Noah took over TDS, he did a spot on riff on this exact topic.
I find his humor a little facile. He was funnier mocking South African culture while in South Africa.
But I am happy he is mocking US culture while within the USA. Every little bit helps.
